Am I just a bastard or does anyone else NEVER post in an intro topic. I think the only time I've ever welcomed someone to this site was about my first week here when I thought it was a post count forum. I welcomed about half a dozen people until I realized my post count didn't go up, said "fuck that!", and erased my posts. Don't get me wrong, I think they're a good thing... I just don't ever have any interest in greeting people. Is that wrong?

You're obviously a wanker (I jk, honest xD) , I welcome most people, because I'm nicer than you it would seem ;)

I just think there would be more chance of people actually sticking around and posting if they are welcomed by afew people, makes us look abit more friendly anyway :wacky:

It just seems compulsory to me, even though we don't have to, it gives new members reassurance that staff are there for them if they need them. :P

I occasionally do but I don't make a point of going out of my way to do so. I try to consider how annoying it is when I join a new forum and get ignored by the senior members, so if I see a newbie post then I'll just pop in and see what they're like.

I'll definitely welcome a friend of mine if I see they've joined the site and made an intro topic. Also, if I'm just browsing the forums and bored and see a person has only a few replies in their intro topic, I'll throw in my welcome as well.

Going to the trouble of erasing your posts just because they didn't contribute to your post count seems a bit odd. Might as well leave them up and make some people feel welcome.

But no, it isn't wrong to have no interest in greeting people. It's just a website, after all. Personally, I socialize differently on the web than I do off of it. I won't ignore people I meet in person the way I might ignore a post or thread. Still, I'll occasionally welcome members.

Well, it's your choice, but it helps the morale of people who start out; I know I would've been bummed out if no one greeted me =(

Taking a chance and introducing yourself to a community can make you a little nervous, and I think that holds true to online as well, so a little greeting is nice *shrugs*

I sometimes do it, although not all the time. A good intro title really piques my interests though and I'll typically post my welcome then. Same as BustaMo, if I see an intro that has close to none replies, I'll go ahead and welcome that member. Generally, I welcome members so that naturally, they'll know that yes, we are aware that they've signed up and that we're just glad to have another member aboard.

I can't remember the last time I welcomed someone or if I've even done it at all. So if that makes me a wanker then well yeah....I never actually made an intro thread myself, not because I was too shy, but because I was so stupid with navigating the site, it took me like month to get out of the Final Fantasy Discussion Forum. So I havn't experienced the morale boost an such.

But I guess if no one is greeting a particular member I might welcome them.

That actually made me lol :monster:

I mostly post in intro threads when I somehow get fooled into thinking it's a Costa Del Sol topic. Hey, if it got me looking, I might as well post in it.

P.S. I really really dislike standard noob intros with all caps screaming something about Final Fantasy. Gah it's so annoying. >.>
No offense little noobs.

I usually welcome everyone, however when they enter in the threads something like : "Hi I'm new here, Im a Final Fantasy fan." I usually just say Welcome to the Foruns. Unless there is something interesting on their threads I usually stick with the simple "Welcome to the Foruns".

I do it out of boredom and also to make the newbies feel more welcomed/confortable.

Exactly what you said. I'm pretty none of us would like to go to a new Forum and everyone would ignore us.

I tend to welcome most people. It seems to me that ignoring threads can be a little bit rude, but whatever.
