Doctor Who

I had hoped that Davros was going to reveal the Doctor's true name at the end, but at least that's going to be an interesting one for the future.
The Doctor's real name will never be revealed (or at least I hope not!) because it'll just utterly destroy the whole Doctor ''Who'' thing that they've had going since the very first episode with 'ol William H. I don't think ANY producer will dare touch it beyond what RTD has already taken it with that in mind.

...or it'll turn out to be John Smith afterall :P

If it were actually John Smith I would honestly piss myself laughing but we all know that it's not that. I mean, it'd be stupid seeing as whenever anyone asks his name he refuses to tell them

I'd prefer it stays secret too, but if it's ever going to be revealed then it'll be soon, since the tenth Doctor told it to River Song at some time in her earlier life.
I've also been wondering if we're now technically in the period of the eleventh Doctor? I missed the first 20 minutes of the episode so I'm not sure on the regeneration specifics of it.

Basicly his allowed his body to heal his life-force but then transferd the energy into his hand before the process changed his appearence (because Tennants Doctor apparently loves himself). So we are still on the Tenth Doctor as it wouldn't count as a new 'life' I reckon.

wELL, i thought it was a fantastic episode, and I like totally bawled my eyes out (as usual) I loved Doctor Donna, she made me laugh, t was so sad when he took her memories though and now he's all alone again

It was pretty nifty having two doctors aswel, I still would like to see Christopher Ec cleston come back :gasp:

I guess that's it for Rose now, at least she got her Doctor...sort of :gasp:

I was disappointed with the finale. It was average, boring and cliched. The basic storyline of "the world is facing oblivion, the Doctor is the antagonist's prisoner, then manages to save the world while losing a companion in the process" has been used for the last three series' now. It's lost its appeal.
Also two problems with the "regeneration": firstly,
if the Doctor believed that his little stunt with the hand would destroy the TARDIS, how is that the greater alternative to merely regenerating?
And secondly,
the new Doctor who was created and stayed with Rose would technically be a human Time Lord, no? So how is it that he could survive that existence, whereas Donna can't?
Also,
the "Doctor Donna" thing was a shit plot device and should be forgotten about entirely. And I'll bet anything that she'll be back in a couple of years, find out about her forgotten past, but it won't kill her because she's even more super special than anyone realised.

In response to your second point:
Donna was a mere human who had been stricken with a Time Lord's mind cluttering her own... while the second tenth Doctor was still physically 1/4 Time Lord (since they said he was half the Doctor and half Donna, and the Doctor is already half human, as was revealed in the 1996 TV movie with Paul McGann as the eighth Doctor), which presumably indicates his mind has a much larger capacity, that can obviously handle have Donna's added to his own.

I have a mixed view of the finale.

I was happy that
that the Doctor didn't regenerate after all. I knew his hand would come in somewhere.
He wasn't leaving at all! I'm happy that no one technically died,
although Donna's memories "died" because the Doctor had to save her from burning up.

And yes, I wasn't happy about
the way Donna left the show.
But I don't think that Catherine Tate would have stayed for a long time, though. Then we have Rose and
the human Doctor!
I didn't know where to put my finger here. I was happy because
he'll live and die a human life
, but it just doesn't feel right at the same time.

Roll on the Christmas special! Only five months to wait!

German-speaking Daleks! Highlight of the episode

Has anyone heard a rumour that Donna will regain her memories, be really pissed off at the Doctor and wind up assisting an enemy of the Doctor. It's probably complete rubbish but it's an interesting idea I guess. Maybe it was someone just saying what they'd like to happen, not what they've heard will happen XD

That would be pretty nifty, I'd just like her to get her memory back and bloody KEEP them, I felt well sorry for her at the end, and I know what you mean Faith, although it was nice she got to be with the Doctor in the end, it just didnt feel right. I still don't see why she had to go back to that dimention seeing as she wasn't from there in the first place. Oh well :gasp:

And my daughter loves Doctor Who, just thought I'd add that, she just saw Takks sig and was like DOCTOR WHO!!!111!11!

Well in :monster:

I'm glad Russell T. Davies isn't writing for Doctor Who anymore. He's awful.

This season is the one I've enjoyed the most from New Who. It was consistently good, right up until the last two episodes. I was a bit dubious about Tate at first, but she actually turned out to be a decent actress and make Donna quite good.

About the finale: I hated the massive gathering of old characters, Doctor Donna, the second Doctor (though he did bring out some good stuff from the main Doctor (Get in the TARDIS!)), towing the earth back to its proper place and the overbearing music, Captain Jack's "3 Doctors? You do not want to know what I'm thinking right now" comment.

However, I liked Davros, Bernard Cribbins (I had a little lump in my throat when he said he'd keep an eye out for the Doctor), the genocide of the Daleks and the proper Doctor's reaction to that, the Doctor getting angry because that's when he's at his best.

I'm quite looking forward to the special and roll on 2010.

I'm just waiting to see how the "one Dalek survived and rebuilt the race" for the next series. That story is just getting old and boring, hopefully that actually is the end of them now. Bring on some new enemies.

I well get the feeling that Davros got out of that alive

I watched it again earlier and it still had me crying hahah, I think I cried more actually. I well need to get someone to buy me all the DVD's so I have something to watch next year when it's not on :gasp:

It's gunna be a long wait til 2010, Im gunna miss Donna I really liked her aswel, although I get the feeling Im in a minority on that -_-

The next season may not be until 2010, but we're going to have 4 Doctor Who specials between now and then (the Christmas special and then 3 double length episodes in 2009), plus the third season of Torchwood (which will have Martha and Mickey in it), and the second season of the Sarah Jane Advetnures (which I honestly couldn't care less about, but still)... so it won't be too hard of a wait... and certainly not very long, all things considered.

I saw something in the paper the other day with odds for the next Doctor. Robert Carlyle and James MacAvoy are joint favourites at 2/1. John Simm was even in there too. oO

It'd be difficult to put John Simm in there, considering he was the Master and all. Unless they decided to change his appearance a little.

Also, yeah! I loved that vid. I randomly came across it and at the end, I just thought to myself. 'Teh Doctor got Rick Rolled!' Loved Gwen's reaction, too. And Donna's like, 'Wtf?'

There are a lot of videos going around in the wake of the finale on YouTube. But this one caught my eye here.
