Maybe the best Bond film...EVER? Before this movie my favorite Bond movie was Goldeneye, but after seeing this I'm not so sure.

Anyone else agree?

I haven't seen it yet...but I've only heard good things!

I wasn't quite sure I was going to like a new Bond and everything, but after seeing the previews a zillion times, I actually like the new Bond a lot...

Worst Bond Film ever. I don't know WHAT people see in it at all. I hated James, I hated the plot, I hated the mediocre mini-film at the beginning, I hated the opening, I hated the 10 hour long poker scenes and I was actually happy with the Bond girl drowned at the end. By the way, if you haven't seen the movie, don't read the previous sentence *izmaddox*.

In fact I was waiting for Sean Connery to come around the cornor and kick that man in the teeth for doing such a horrible job.

Honestly, I tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Sure, he was blonde. Sure he looked like a palooka. I'm nice enough to at least see if he was as good as a Bond as Pierce or Sean. Apparentally I was proved wrong.

You wanna see a good Bond film? Go back to the Sean Connery films and pick up "From Russia with Love", "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball". Casino Royale was (to my despair) a HUGE disappointment.

Cheers for giving away the ending :argh:

Not really but it would have been nice for people who havent watched the film to have some suprises.
Also it was one of the first bond books to be released say maybe people new to the series didnt know.
And finally Not every bond girl dies in the end (natalya from goldeneye some other chick from the world is not enough)
*sigh*
Rant over.

I'm yet to see the film. Honestly, I was put off at first because everyone thought it was going to be crap, that he would make a rubbish James Bond. I love it when critics are proved wrong. Because a lot of people have come back saying it's a brilliant film, and now it's being tipped for being one of the best Bond films ever. I'll probably go and see it tomorrow, my friends and I are planning to take a trip to the movies anyway.

I was one of the first in my town to see it. Working in a Cinema really does give you advantages when it comes to staff screenings =D

I found it awesome. Though I wasn't to keen on the actor that played James Bond, it was a good plot. I was never a Bond fan, but this certainly interested me...it was more action packed and thrilling than the rest of the films, so I was happy.

But I won't go into detail on it XP

Nope. I don't.

Casino Royale is a good movie and a welcome addition to the James Bond collection, but it's far from being the best. I prefer all the Brosnan films and most of the Connery films to Casino Royale.

I still loved Casino Royale, though. Craig makes a decent James Bond, surprisingly.

i liked this installment of the bond films but one of the main downsides was the fact that the new bond was in fact a blonde it just wasn't right in my eyes

Ugh, Brosnan was one of the worst Bonds. There's probably only Dalton who was worse, I think. It's a shame because he was cast in some of the best roles, and aesthetically he fits the part better than anyone else.

I do actually think Casino Royale was the best of the 21, despite two major let downs; no Q and no proper car chase scene. I know there was one, but it was far too brief especially for such a beautiful car. ;_;
Given a few more roles, I'd say Daniel Craig will probably be widely recognised as the best Bond to date.

Casino Royale is one of my top 3 Bond films easily, Daniel Craig is fantastic as the new grittier Bond (I was one of the initial haters as well). It was a film and new direction that was seriously needed after those last few awful Brosnan ones (I liked his Bond but the films were generally shit).

Hopefully QoS will continue the great work started here.

Exactly he is a grittier new bond, therfore comparisons to the previous bonds are a little unfair. With the exception of about two movies, the one where his wife is killed, and the one after when he seeks revenge, bond never was really serious.
Pierce Brosnan played bond wonderfully, he was cool, sauve and sophisticated. He delivered the one liners perfectly.
I rather like the brosnan movies, though in the world is not enough, I keep think of Robert Carlyle as Begby, but meh. However, he reason they weren't as good was because they weren't based on Ian Flemings novels.

The problem I had with the Brosnan ones is that I felt that they went overboard in terms of the gadgets etc and didn't have any substance to them. Since they didn't have any material to work from probably was a factor but I just wished they took the films more seriously in general.

You can't be Remington Steele AND James Bond and expect them both to be good all the time...Whereas Goldeneye was a great start to a series of mostly forgettable downs...I get the feeling from Casino Royale that it's more of a great start that will probably stick.

I'd say that applies especially to Die Another Day. Definitely the weakest Brosnan movie. That one got a little out of hand. Altering appearances and identies and giant mirrors in the sky that prolong summer seasons. Oh yeah. They can also fire killer death beams down to Earth.

...that scene where Brosnan uses a parachute and a piece of debris to wind surf on those waves was laughable.

Never mind the car chases and the shooting, my jaw was dropping at the sight of Daniel Craig coming out of the sea ...

Yes, it was a good film. About 99.9% of the people here have already said so. Whoever thinks this is a ridiculous film should go and take a good damn hard look in the mirror. Craig's the best Bond I've ever seen. Those scenes are really intense, especially at the beginning.

Don't forget the invisible car. Seeing some of those things made my eyes bleed. Actually I think it was so terrible at times that I actually had a stroke.
