I wanted to make a legitimate thread on this so we could discuss the whole thing properly, though I have a feeling it might be better suited in the spam forum.

With the exception of one or two people, most people found it absolutely hilarious and I think that more jokes like this should persist. It raised discussion, we had a bitch about who we thought could've done this and we even pointed the fingers at our own staffers. It was minor but I still felt a bit more tuned in than usual. :wacky:
 
The only annoying part is when people started questioning their own popularity because of the number they had. Really, ABC order. XDD

The joke was also too short. It should have lasted years. :pikamon:
 
Amusing for sure, but it does bring up a small caveat;

If the forum really *does* get hacked in future, is anyone going to listen to the admins when they say so? and will they not bother doing things like changing passwords?

Just something to ponder ^.^
 
Decado has a good point. The joke had me wondering if the forum was hacked. Now people will laugh. The forum has been attacked several times now. The admins were saying it was a hack and they could not fix the issue.

It is like Peter and the Wolf. When the admins do this kind of stuff enough. When the forum really gets hacked, nobody will believe them.

Also, I found not having my unique name annoying.

It was funny! I laughed my ass off when I saw that it was a joke. I didn't think it was a serious hack (a serious hacker would have done a lot more), but they did get me thinking somebody was hacking the forums pointlessly. It was all in good fun; no harm done. Just accept it's a joke, laugh a little, and move on ;)
 
I am obviously not going to dwell on this. I just did not find it very funny.

But I have to admit that I kinda fueled this idea. Because I did say to somebody that it would be funny having the staff be all Smiths. :neomon:
 
Well, you can't blame him for being a tad upset. =/.

I mean, his name WAS changed without his premission. Not all are the same and will take it as a joke. It's just like really getting hacked, and they changed YOUR name. Pretty sure you wouldn't like it either, eh?

Although in the end he found out it was a joke, still, I think it should be considered who will take it offense and whatnot. =/.

Not saying that Koloth didn't take it a bit outta context. So, meh.

Heh, very amusing. It actually took me quite awhile to log in earlier. I was typing "Mitsuki", then my password...and when it wouldn't let me log in, I thought "Oh great, we were hacked." So I tried again. And again. And again. Now, I stopped at my 4th attempt because after my 5th attempt, it would require me to wait 15 minutes before I can try again.

So I finally spoke to Saix and Mandi about it. Saix told me my username is "Smith #12". I entered it as "Smith#12" (without space.) There goes my 5th failed attempt. Had to wait 15 minutes, but I guess I was so anxious to log in that I guess I didn't wait long enough. I couldn't login for like an hour...so finally Mandi changed my password lol. I had to wait 15 minutes again...and yay, I finally got on!

All that trouble...tsk tsk. Shame on you, guys! ;)

I'd honestly see the funny side and go along with it all. It's a user name, and that's all.

At the end of the day, it's a fucking username. NO ONE liked having the other name but no one stomped around like they were three and acted as though it was the priority of the internet.
