I hate Grammar Nazis

He did take out a few money-stealers. Good enough for me.

I wouldn't say I'm a grammar Nazi, but if I'm RPing (the section here isn't brilliant) and people change tenses, get the wrong person, or just spell something incredibly wrongly (meddisin = medicine) I get pissed off. The same happens if they use "LOL" halfway through a sentence.

What really gets me, is when people use the phrase "...try and compelte FFXII"

So you're going to "try to do something", "and finish FFXII"?
Try is used like this as a modal verb, which means you need an infinitive: "to verb".

- grammatically correct -

You do sound a bit like a grammer nazi. if you know what they mean does it really matter so much if they spelt it wrong?

If I've been writing better Engish than adults since I was seven, then that says something for their mental capabilities.

- Tetchy -

People might note me as a grammar Nazi, but when I was the Role Playing mod here, I just encouraged people to try use the best grammar that they could.

Never told anyone off. But if I would actually see someone with terrible grammar, I'd tell them off, unfortunately.

With all honesty I don't really mind if anyone gives me an advice on how my usage of "English" could be improved. English is not my first language, which means that sometimes I feel that my vocabulary is quite limited in comparison to my extensive vocabulary in Spanish. I do not hate grammar nazis, I do find to be quite a nuisance those who fully dedicate their lives to correct others as if they were the only ones who write correctly.

Grammar rules were made to be followed as well to be broken. It is up to each individual if they follow those rules or not. Though I admit, nOObish language like "U no cool, u suck....I ma hero...." and the abbreviations of some words that could limit the complete understanding of a sentence leading to misunderstanding, are quite an annoyance.

Then again, I consider that I dedicated to much effort to a post located in a place for spam when it could be a fair debate. Aye :monster:

I was wondering who bumped this thread. It turned out to be Riku. :monster:

By the way, I still hate Grammar Nazis. :wacky:

I remember you waaaaaaaaaaaay back when you joined the forums, STL ;) I'll say that, right here and now, your grammar has improved exponentially, which is particularly plausible due to English being a second language. Anyone who grasp a second language so tightly deserves to be praised.

I am honored by your comment. I actually learn by reading the debate section as well as paying attention to the posts from members with good grammar here. In fact, sometimes reading good debates with great participants is better than reading school books about English. I have always thought that the way we express ourselves can tell people who we are and in what we believe.

Time for me to express how I am not crazy about Grammar Nazis again. :read:
