i was sure that there was already a thread for this, but apparently not :hmmm:

the new trailer was released online earlier today, and it looks pretty epic

i think henry cavill looks like a wonderful clark kent, and having kevin costner and russell crowe play his two fathers looks like it'll pay off. also, amy adams. :ohoho: i'm very excited for this, i think it may now be my most anticipated film of the year. i've never hated a zack snyder film yet, and i think this might be his best yet, even without his usual technical team that he worked with on 300, watchmen and sucker punch
 
I'm buzzing. Henry Cavill is such a babe.

There's only so much you can do with a Superman movie (sent to Earth, grows up, fancies Lois, gets stabbed my kryptonite, love interest helps him, he kills the villain) but I trust Nolan to make it a decent film.
 
there's no kryptonite at all in man of steel. i suppose it will pop in the future, since it's almost guaranteed to get a sequel or two.

i've never been a huge superman fan really. as a superhero, i find him a bit dull since he can do anything and go anywhere and is virtually indestructible, but it looks like he'll have a bit more of a human side here. i don't like that they're slapping chris nolan's name all over it though. i get that they're proud of having such a big name behind it, but shouting that WE HAVE THE DIRECTOR OF THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY doesn't really mean a great deal when he's produced the film.
 
I'm really looking forward to this movie. ^_^ I've yet to outright hate a Zack Snyder film as well. I never was a Superman fan until the show Smallville premiered. I really like how the trailers for this seem gritty and dark, which is not a tone I'd associate with Superman at all. I can't wait to see what they do with the story. It looks like the main enemy will be some sort of alien. :ohoho:
 
I haven't been much of a fan of Superman at all. At least, not the films anyway. I'm more a Batman fan, but the comics where he's paired with Superman are pretty awesome. But, having seen this trailer, I am actually pretty hyped for this film. Back when I first heard that Snyder was taking this one, I had a feeling it would be pretty awesome, but I still had my reservations. It's great to see this more realistic take on Superman.

Has anyone seen the General Zod teaser yet? That sent shivers down my spine. :D
 
Superman is interesting when you view him as a living god come to Earth. He can do what he likes and has limitless power, the only thing stopping him is how he was raised. It's also interesting to see how people would react to something like that.
 
This also makes me wish they would slow down with the upcoming Justice Leage movie. I think 2015 is a bit too soon. If they take their time, they can concentrate more on establishing the core characters in a similar fashion to the build up to The Avengers. Right now it only feels like they're pushing for a 2015 release just for the sake of competing with The Avengers. I mean, the Green Lantern was shit, so they would have to re-invent that. And then you have The Flash and Wonder Woman who haven't been on film in a very long time. If they tie Man of Steel in with the Dark Knight Trilogy, then I guess they're already half way there, but... I've been hearing rumours that even Man of Steel isn't going to lead in to Justice League in any way. :hmmm:
 
apparently scripting the justice league film has been an absolute nightmare. all the rumours point to that coming before any of the charaters' individual films - i.e. man of steel will be a standalone film and then there will be a reboot for superman and batman post-justice league. i can see why they want to rush it out though. if they took the marvel approach and tried to do several build up films then that would take 5 years or so. by the end of the decade, the superhero phase could easily have passed and dc would have missed out entirely. by doing a justice league film now, they can at leasdt try and ensure interest for the future in those characters

Seriously they are going to reboot Batman and Superman? :( bummer man.

Im not familiar with the comics but draw my conclusions from the animated movies and series. I love them to death. The Justice League animated series is superb imo. I really want DC to deliver with this live action movie adaptation of The Justice League and totally overkill Avengers boxoffice sales!!!

I have this Wonder Woman animated movie that is superb as well. So far Christopher Nolan did a wonderful job with batman now other directors need to pursuit with other DC icons hehe.

Oh well....

I'd like to think they can accomplish something great with that. It's just kinda hard to imagine it happening at the moment. :lew: Though, I don't get why they just don't keep the ball rolling from the Dark Knight and Man of Steel. I mean, I always saw Batman and Superman being the most important characters in that. Nolan left his Dark Knight trilogy very open-ended, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to have some new Batman that isn't Bruce Wayne and then just tie Man of Steel in with that.

Looking past Reynold's acting, and the cheesy special effects, it would have been a more enjoyable film. :monster:
 
even though chris nolan and joseph gordon-levitt have categorically denied it, there are still a lot of fan rumours that john blake will have a cameo appearance in man of steel and will help set up a justice league film. i can't see it being true, because if it were then that would almost certainly mean that chris nolan was on board as some sort of creative director for the future of dc's cinematic property, but he's got interstellar due for release in 2014 so i can't see him having the time to commit to something as big as the justice league. i think leaving the dark knight rises open like that was just chris nolan being chris nolan. look at inception - that was one of the most ambiguous endings to a film ever just to throw the audience off from the conclusion they think they've just drawn.

i think this would be a good move, especially if man of steel delivers. it will probably pay massive dividends for marvel (hiring joss whedon as they have) and he's certainly a talented director with experience in this genre. i can't see man of steel being a flop, so in a few months time we'll probably get an official justice league announcement
 
Now that would be interesting. I hope Ruben Fleischer ends up directing a stand-alone film for The Flash or something seeing as he's not on board for Justice League.
 
i'd like to see him do a superhero film as well, i quite like mr fleischer. i think the most important thing is to get a director who's a fan of the comics. its worked for spiderman hiring marc webb, and worked for the iron man films with jon favreau, and for marvel in general with joss whedon and the avengers.
 
I completely agree. Though saying that, Sam Raimi had supposedly been a big Spider-Man fan growing up but I didn't much like his trilogy. But then, I never much cared for any of his films other than Evil Dead. :hmmm:
 
i recently rewatched the first two spiderman films and they're better than i remember. the cgi hasn't held up well at all, but the filnms are entertaining.

I never was a huge Superman fan but I will most likely see it. It's interesting to say the least... Though many movies LOOK good doesn't mean they will be. We will see though.
 
I don't think that will be the case with Man of Steel. Since Iron Man, trailers for Superhero films have been fantastic, yet still never failed to disappoint when it came to watching he film itself. At least for me, anyway.
