Never noticed this until now, but I'm in the Barheim Passage doing the Bloodwing Hunt, and just noticed, the Deadbone's spears from what I can see look exactly like the Zodiac Spear.

Is this meant to lead us to believe that they have the very same weapon? Or is it just a coincidence/laziness in weapon design by the developers?

It's probably just a coincidence. Or, there will be one very very subtle difference between the two >_>

If you have opened one of those three chests your gonna have to steal it off that boss... I forgot what it's called, it has like a 2% steal rate...

Thats news to me. There are only two possibility to get it and thats from Necrohol if you didn't open any of the chests and then theres one in the mines where there is like a stupid rate of apperance. It doesn't come from any monster :\

Moonchild is right- if you opened up one of the chests which takes away the Spear, you'll have to rely on a chest in the Henne Mines. The chest has a 10% chance of appearing and a 1% chance of it containing a Zodiac Spear. So there is a .1% chance of a chest appearing there containing a Zodiac Spear. I never tried to get it- my treasure luck is "iffy" as some would put it. For example, the best thing I've gotten on the Steppe is a quiver of Icecloud Arrows and a quiver of Artemis Arrows- and I've gotten nothing in the Great Crystal except a Stoneblade.
And another example of the "spear and skeleton" easter egg is that the Skull Defenders all appear to be bearing Javelins.

I already have it.

Plus, you can't steal it, you either get it from Nabudis if you never opened the four chests, or in the Henne Mines, but the one in the Henne Mines has an extremely low chance of being there.

All I was saying is, in the Barheim Passage, the Deadbones foes have Spears that look basically the same as the Zodiac Spear. Noticed the difference earlier, the whole spear is basically the same, but the bottom end is slightly different, the Zodiac Spear has more of a tip at the bottom than the deadbones' spears. Had a closer look with L2 when targetting one of them.

Still, they look quite alike.

I'm guessing it's jsut a pear that looks somewhat like Zodiac, but has nothing similar in terms of shere power. I mean, a spear can only appear in a few forms, so some of them will look familar. The Zodiac spear doesn't look very intriguing as it is anyway. Sort of bland for one of the most powerful weapons in the game.

Hmm thats interesting.

Well yeah normally you can only get the zodiac spear using two methord but after reading I found out there is a third way if you are lucky. Aprantly after a while they realeased a second version of the game with almost no difference from the first apart from the fact that the Zodiac spear can be obtained a thrid way, from a boss by stealing. My mate showed me this and after half an hour of constant stealing he stole a Zodiac spear from the king Behemoth so either its a glitch or they really have realeased a second version.

Strange.....

Looking in the official guide now, there's only the two listed, Henne Mines and Nabudis. Never heard of being able to steal it. The only things listed to steal from the Behemoth King are Ring Wyrm Scale, Behemoth Steak and an Elixir. So I don't know.....will read up about this.

The Zodiac Spear can't be stolen from anything in any shape or form. I've never heard of a 'second version' of the English FFXII; yes, FFXII Zodiac Job System is new, but that's different. I've even typed it up on Google, but have had no results relevant to the subject.

As for the so-called counterpart, I doubt its the Zodiac Spear; after all, its probably the only spear that looks real.

I think being able to steal it is a glitch although my mate who I'd seen do it has shown me a second time as he saved before the fight. I've seen him do it twice and I think it is a glitch in the game as I can't do it on mine and after looking closely we have the same version.

No, the chest does have a 10% chance of the chest appearing, but a 10% chance that the spear is in it, and 90% its a elixer, if your wearing the diamond armlet otherwise the chance is astronomical with out it...so ita a 1/100 chance of getting it, but people have been know to go 2000+ runs and not got it, so good luck on that

That's right.

Without the Diamond Armlet, you have no chance what so ever of getting the Spear, the official guide makes me laugh, it says "10% Elixir, 90% Elixir" lol, why not just say "100% Elixir."

Actually its a 1/1000 chance: 1/10 chance of appearing. 1/10 chance of the treasure being an item. 1/10 chance of the item being the Zodiac Spear....though you can reduce it to 1/100 if you know how. The Zodiac Spear cannot be obtained without the Diamond Armlet, so there's no astronomical value without it.

It can be, but i cant personally say i have done it... and its not 1/1000... its 1/100 chance, its 10% chance the chest is there... so 1 in 10 chance... and then 90% elixir, 10% spear, and if you wear the armlet you always get those items and those odds... leaving you with 1/100 chance, 1/1000 is more like the chance with out the armlet

Fuck up i guess, tho what idiot mistakes "elixir" with "Zodiac spear"

It's on the without Diamond Armlet equipped list.

90% Elixir, 10% Elixir.

The with the DA it says:

90% Elixir, 10% Zodiac Spear.

You can't get it without the DA equipped, Gabranth is right. That's what I was saying about the guide making me laugh, without the Diamond Armlet, you'll only ever get an Elixir if the chest is there, so why didn't it just say "100% Elixir" rathar than "10% Elixir 90% Elixir" lol.

So in all actuality you could have more than 2 Zodiac Spears because if you hit up that one in Nabrudis (sp?) several times. Of course this is all based on luck, so it could take SOOO many hours, that it's probably not worth it. But am I right that you could get several Spears from that coffer?

The one in Nabudis is a one time chest, not sure about the one in the Henne Mines though.
