Zac Efron To Star In...

Okaaay? I heard about this before and thought it was a joke. Apperantly it wasn't.

To bad though, I am almos 100% sure that this will ruin PotC for me.
 
Oh dear. Hopefully he'll only have a minor role, or will get killed off. I haven't actually watched any of the High School Musical films, but judging from trailers he's in the same class as Angelina Jolie and Jared Leto as actors.

Also, I thought Keira Knightley wasn't going to be in any of the sequels?
 
I'm more annoyed by the prospect of a PotC IV - the third one was blatantly just a way to spend all of this extra money they had on scenes that did nothing for the film (Jack and that desert, anyone?)

Anyway, it's inevitable that Disney will continue to give him roles in their productions, given that they know how popular he is amongst the public. It's probably a smart move - taking a very successful series and adding in a character who'll bring a bigger fanbase.

I thought PoTC 2 was also a way to spend lots of money. They turn Bill Nighy into squidman, and then nothing happens for the whole movie, but then, at the end, abother squid, but bigger comes and eats Jack.
I agree with you entirely, they have Mr popular singing and dancing Zac and millions of people will flock in paying too much money to see some rubbish. Though if it were turned into a musical, I'd watch it because it would be so very incredibly terrible.

But I do like Russel Brand, however the article cheered me up until, " Jack searches for the fountain of youth" which screams out OMG we've run out of terrible boring stupid ideas for movies eg PoTC2&3, we'll just stick to cliches now. Now all they'd have to do would be throw in some Nazis and Harrison Ford and we could have Indiana Jones.
 
Disney is doing the same thing with Zac Efron that they did with Shia Labeouff: Taking a talentless and annoying guy from their productions and putting him in big-time movies. It's tragic.
 
I knew they'd screw this series up, that sleezball... I'm really disappointed.
 
Zac Efron? Ewww. Ewww. Ewww... Just ewww. No talent whatsoever. Also looks creepy. I'm also glad I'm not alone in hating Shia LaBeouf. Both of them need to stop acting.

I also think that Disney has milked the PotC cow for what it's worth. The first film was spectacular, but after that, it just went downhill.
 
...What are they thinking? >.> I mean it's not like I dislike the guy, but for a movie like Pirates of the Caribbean...he just doesn't fit in. I actually like all three PoTC, although the first one is indeed the best one. So yeah, I'm disappointed to know that Zac would be starring in the 4th one. I know I'll be afraid to watch it when it does come out. I'll still watch it though, just to see how it'll be.

I thought the third one wrapped up quite nicely.

Is Johnny Depp going to be in it? I know Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly said they were done after the third one.

Sometime in 2012 I believe. The article said that Depp and Knightly would return, but it didn't say anything about Bloom..

I really can't believe that Zack Efron is going to be in it. All I can picture him doing is standing on the black pearl singing a remix of a pirates life for me or something :gasp: Next thing we're going to be hearing is that they decided to put Hannah Montanna in it too >_>

And Russel Brand?! He was a complete jack-ass at the 2008 MTV movie awards, so I'm not too excited to hear he's going to be in it either. I didn't think it was possible, but POTC 4 sounds like it's going to be even worse than 3 was.

Am I the only person that likes Shia? I mean yea he's not the best actor in the world, but at least he's trying to break away from his disney days by taking on some serious roles. He looked like he did a really great job in Eagle Eye at least...

I do like him actually. He annoyed me in Even Stevens though, but I thought he did a great job in Transformers. Haven't seen Eagle Eye yet, but I'd like to see it just to see how he performed. I know he's taken some more serious roles and he's really the only "Disney kid" I'm taking seriously at the moment.

Anyway, I agree with Rydia. The 3rd one was wrapped up pretty nicely and for there to be a 4th one is just another lame excuse to come up with a storyline and plot real quick. And I just know they'll have Zac singing a line or two or three just so they can show off his singing voice. >.< Not that he has a terrible voice, but come on, PoTC? It's bad enough that High School Musical 3 is coming out soon.
 
In all honesty...I'm not really bothered. He's no great actor by any means but he has large fan base as does PoTC, therefore, more money gained. Plus nowadays there are lots of actors who get film contracts who shouldn't, but that's the way film industries work. Sooo meh, I don't think he'll ruin it tbqh.

It's about Jack's search for the Fountain Of Youth, or so the end of the third film would suggest.
And Depp has said he'll do all six.
 
Ugh, Zac Efron bugs me, just that whole squeaky-clean Disney pretty boy thing he has going on. I bet he's really hideous underneath all that make-up. And Russel Brand annoys me even more. >_> I just don't find him funny at all.

I'm not a huuuuge fan of PotC, I think I've seen the first one once and half of the second one, but it just doesn't seem like Efron's thing at all. At least Brand somewhat looks like he could be Jack Sparrow's younger brother or whatever it is. I probably won't watch it anyway though. <_<
