Alright this are the few Monks back in the classic series, I suppose this might be a fun one and a good one for community to decide on your favourite. Feel free to choose via the Character's Story, Gameplay, Moveset, Personality, Overdrive skills or "badas$try" Your choice!

My apologises if I missed out on some!

Yang Fang Leiden (FFIV)

Sabin Rene Figaro (FFVI)

Tifa Lockhart (FFVII)

Zell Dincht (FFVIII)

Amarant Coral (FFIX)

Others: Snow Willers (FFXIII) Or (Please Specify) ____

P.S. My apologises, I accidentally left out Snow during the polling..So..I'll include him here but he'll fall under 'Others' in the mean while unless there's a way to reverse poll..However no worries he is not forgotten.

Hmm this is kind of a tough one, but I ended up voting for Sabin. I don't remember particularly favoring him as a character, but I definitely recall how excited I was to discover the capabilities of his moveset. Pulling off those D-pad combos was hard, but sooo rewarding.

This is quite tough. Since this is the monk (etc) class, it is quite fitting to be a 'tough' decision to make.

I guess I have two in that I love Sabin and Tifa in different ways.

Tifa I like more for her personality, etc. She would otherwise be a bit of an odd character for a monk in that she doesn't really have super-strength (unlike Sabin), and yet she is still very strong but without developing exaggerated muscles typically associated with masculinity. She's no Adel, etc. Tifa has a womanly figure, and is probably the strongest character with her fists in the FFVII party. It is quite a break away for the monk class in that respect.

Sabin, however, I adore for his Herculean aspects. He's probably the strongest of all of the monks. He supplexes a goddamn train! Sabin really is Final Fantasy's Hercules. He also has his fair share of comic relief moments, and also a good background story with his brother Edgar. Pressing the Blitz buttons was also challenging and quite rewarding at times, although it wasn't the easiest thing to do I sometimes found.

The other monks I've enjoyed in some way or another, but they didn't stand out to me like Tifa and Sabin did.

My apologizes for the late vote since I started the thread.
Yup..personally this was a 'tough' pick since many of them excells in one way or another

Nevertheless, I ended up giving my vote to Sabin. I just felt his moveset button pressing was very rewarding and his character and story does blend very well with a blackbelt vibe.

Tifa and Zell was on my mind for the top picks. However, I didn't feel Tifa as a completely strong independant figure in terms of personality and character with the moveset. Zell on the other hand was also a tough rivalry for Sabin's pick but I suppose during the era, the mechanics just had better rendering and graphics etc.
Apart from that though Zell still kicks out, He didn't stands out so much to me as that role character compared to Sabin for me.

All in all I still feel everyone above meets up to their classes, just that one gives a different touch more than another in different aspects whatsoever. Which is also a beautiful reason for FF RPG.

-Added Snow Villiers (FFXIII) to the poll-

Zell Dincht. He's an eejit to be sure but very charming. I love the rapport her has with his Ma!

Sabin is my favorite character in FFVI so I definitely went with him out of the contestants for this poll. I love how he gives up his right to the throne and instead decides to forge his own path to greatness by finding out just who he really is and starting from scratch.

Amarant was a close 2nd for me as I love how simple his backstory is in FFIX, but it's a pretty interesting one of how he goes from outcast to hero by the end of the story.

how is tifa loosing!?

(Yes hello hi. I am new to the forums and this is my first post. Glad to meet you all!)

Hmmm, for me I gotta say Eight from Final Fantasy Type-0. I know he doesnt have much in the way of character development (as much of Class Zero lacks) but his personality is nonetheless enjoyable for me, as well as his design. His gameplay is where he really shines though. You can do so much with his character since in the game all his Stance skills depend on your directional input, so each is like 3-4 attacks in one. I loved using him!

For second place, Sabin, Tifa, and Zell are all tied. I adore them all and really can't choose.

3rd place would be Ursula and Amaranth tied as well (though I haven't finished IX so I'm only basing Amarant on what I've seen of him, which is good so far.)

Yang is a solid 4th. Good character, but not particularly outstanding to me.

I absolutely despise Snow. I just can't bring myself to like him. I tried, I really did. But I hate self-righteous people who constantly disregard other people's feelings and/or the situation, so Snow really can't even make the list for me.
