Is how the fuck can people not have respect for Hitler? He's probably the single greatest leader of the 20th Century. One of the greatest ever. So fuck if he was a bit twisted in the head? HE WAS GERMAN.

i liked him because he killed jews :neomon:

hahaha omg, that new guy had to set you off

oh how i just lol'd

Hitler was a politician. Who likes those? Me, I never knew the guy.

I could go on for ages about how he's actually a great historical character, but it's almost midnight.

and you need to work on getting me falling back at your feet :monster:

I know this is spam but I'll try and make a half-decent post anyway.:neomon:

I gather the reason that the majority of people see Hitler as someone who should burn in hell is because we only ever hear the bad things about him. Like at school you learn that he killed 6million jews and that he was a complete wacko, but that's it. A teacher wouldn't dare tell a class of 10 year olds 'Oh, actually Hitler was a top class bloke!' (or something along those lines, you know what I mean) because of this prejudiced view, and more often than not the teacher won't know that much about him either. Saying that, I don't know much about him, which is exactly why I don't form much of an opinion on him. Yeah, killing all of those Jews was wrong but apart from that I don't know anything about the situation. Although I must admit that this is making me want to learn...

That's exactly the problem. Everyone only looks at the fact that he killed millions of Jews because they betrayed him. But if, after killing all of them, he'd picked one random dentist and had him killed, Hitler would suddenly be a much more interesting person. Why did he pick that dentist?
I'll have to come up with a better way to impress ze ladies. =[

Didn't Hitler used to be an artist? I think he did a few paintings....

:ffs:

he went to art school in vienna, and dropped out then was homeless untill he joined the army.

The reason why Hitler will probably never be seen as 'great' is because his image is that of a maniac who hated jews, gypsies, gays, JWs, communists and that list goes on.

Hitler did some good things for germany, but what peopl dont understand is that stresman did a lot better job than Hitler.

Hitlers solution to unemployment was to conscript everyone.
not very original, plus germany isnt a hard country to make great, as its easily the best in europe, was and still is (im talking economically)
plus Hitler made some absolutely terrible decisions as head of the german army, if it had been someone reasonably sane, germany could have easily taken over the world.

sure he invented the VW and built the autobahn, but other than that he just speeded up some things that would have happened anyway.

He was great in the sense that he brought about alot of change and turned Germany into a superpower for a short period, and had great charisma. What people hate him for is the oppression and mass murder of Jews, political opponents, kids just having fun(e.g rebellious kids listening to jazz), oppression of occupied nations. If he was alot more tolerant and less hateful, he might have actually been a perfect leader. Those Germans who voted for the NSDAP wanted salvation, and they got it, but also fear, hate and oppression as the price for that salvation.

We are brought up to believe that dictatorial characters in history, those who oppose the allied nations of today, etc, are all evil. I think people need to see what else they did other than kill people they hated and silence free speech. That said, Hitler was a successful leader, but not a "good" leader. I'd certainly not want great prosperity at such a terrible price. But I don't know how I'd react if I was a German back then.

I think people like Augusto Pinochet should be more reviled in history. We focus too much on one object of hate. But this man, killed many people in the name of capitalism. He tells us that both capitalist and communist systems are subject to oppressive leaders. The bias tells us that all communism is bad, and all capitalism is good.
