I've been doing this fight for hours, I seem to be whacking thin air. I might as well be, I'd defeat him just as quickly.

He has 14 million HP left (so I've taken off 36 million). I'm not in need of battle strategies, merely advice on the following:

My MP tends to deplete rather quickly and he uses the time when I use charge as a means of either using White Breath (randomly inflicting Stop). In a bid to reduce my MP expenditure, would you recommend turning off my healing gambits and just leaving the one for "Ally: Any -> Arise"?

The way I'm seeing it is that curing only prolongs my inevitable death, so I'll need to revive anyway, and the more healing I do the less attacking I do, therefore the longer the battle will take.

The only downside that I can see is me having to revive more often but, surely, I'll expend less MP this way, in the long run, no?

Have you got Sage's rings equiped, it is a great way to dull down MP consumption as it halves MP cost for all spells

You got the Yagyu Darkblade? That can help seeing as he's "Holy" element and weak to Dark. That paired with the Genji Gloves could set you.

If not, use the Masamune simply for the combo rate. If you have both of them, happy days. If not, then one person Masamune, other 2 with dark element weapons.

The decoy/reverse combo can help if you'd rathar just keep digging in without healing. Suppose it'll take one of your party out of the fight to keep casting it though.

As for healing, try setting the % for HP lower on the gambit, so it's longer before they heal eachother. Something like " Ally > HP10% - Curaja"

My top Gambit on all characters for this battle and most of the game were:

Characters HP < 40% then use Curaja.

It still gives you time to take a few hits if you're in the heat of the battle, but not enough that you will waste MP on just a small amount of HP recovery.

Also, make sure that when you are hitting or attacking Yiazmat, that you are gaining MP back for every hit. I'm not sure how it works since I haven't had a go at Yiazmat in quite a long time, but everytime I hit Yiazmat or any other enemy in the game, I will automatically recovery about 10-12 MP each time I strike the enemy. It basically recovers my MP back to full since I hit a few times, cure, hit, cure, etc...

But yeah, I prioritize my Arise gambit to dead members, and then Curaja gambit #1 and #2 on the list, even over attacking the enemy at-hand. Keeping my characters alive is far more important than punching a fiend in the nose, so keep that in mind.

With the Curaja gambits, you'll use more mp than gambits for Arise, so using Arise is more important in this gambit set.
However, the advantage of Curaja gambits is you keep the buffs you obtain; Protect, Shell, Beserk, Regen, etc. I'd simply ask you to choose which is more important to you; buffs, or mp.
Also, if you choose to go with the Arise gambits, set up a gambit to Beserk your strongest melee fighter, and another to cast Bravery on him/her.It will make the fight go faster. As for the problem of Stop, set up a gambit for Remedies/Chronos Tears.
