Since I couldn't find a thread knocking about, I decided to start one up.

For those who don't know, this show was about a warrior princess named Xena and her companion, Gabrielle. They would travel across the lands and have crazy adventures. Xena would save people and do good deeds to make up for her dark past, whilst Gabrielle travelled for the thrills on a journey.

Does anyone watch this?

I bought the complete collection back in February off ebay for £70 and it's been a good buy so far. At the moment, I'm almost halfway through the second season. I really can't pin down a favourite episode whatsoever because they're all pretty good.

And just because they're travelling together, Xena/Gabrielle is canon in my eyes. xD

Not to go off topic here but I know about Xena warrior Princess. I have never seen the show but I did play the one on playstation and I believe the one on Nintendo 64 also. I used to like it or I think it was just a random game in my time as a kid tbh xD. I played it really long ago. Is the tv show like any of the games? I cant remember what it was about xD

This one

I wouldn't know if the show was like the game, I only discovered the show at the beginning of the year. But it's made me interested to actually find and play the game, just for the sake of a comparison really.

I used to watch Xena, along with The Legend of William Tell. Whatever happened to these heroic fantasy TV shows? Didn't they have a score of them during the 90s?

I haven't watched any series all the way through, but I have watched key episodes.

I had to watch quite a few episodes last year as one module of my course was studying how the ancient world is portrayed, used and continuously adapted in media, and one of the assignments was to do with Xena (so I downloaded a few episodes or watched them online - I couldn't afford to buy them).

Out of the episodes that I saw I think my favourite would be 'The Xena Scrolls' (at least I think that is what they called the episode). It's different from the format of the rest of the show, and instead focuses on the descendants of Xena and Gabrielle uncovering the secrets of Xena at an archaeological dig. It's a clever way to summarise to the viewer what has happened through Xena to that point, while also providing humour through parodying 1920s horror and Indiana Jones.

Oh man, I used to watch this back when I was kid. I still remember-every Wednesday at 9 p.m.

Ahhh...good times. I was too young to appreciate the lesbian subtext at times *wistful*

And I was a sucker for the Aries/Xena relationship, despite how screwed up it ended up being at times :lew:

I think I missed a couple of the beginning episodes, but I think I saw the rest of it 'til the end when Xena
has to stay dead to appease those dead souls or something
.

I was just watching The Xena Scrolls tonight, actually. Thought it was a great episode and it's now probably my favourite of the second season so far.

Fusionist, I didn't notice the lesbianisms straight away. I didn't really notice them until the bond between Xena and Gabrielle grew stronger in the first season. Ares seems mental for his attempts to lure Xena back to the dark side, but I love him nonetheless. xD

I have all the dvds for all seasons of Xena. I really like the first 3 seasons the best, where it's more greek mythology. After that though it crosses into other nations and it just gets kind of repeating.

I either like the really serious episodes that continue on in later episodes, or the really funny ones. I especially love the episodes where Hercules the Legendary Journey crosses over, because I was a huge Hercules fan and I remember Xena appearing in the first season

Have you ever seen the Adventures of Hurcles where Xena was guest star and she actually fought the big fella(Kevin Sorbo) It was during this story she got her spinoff because she played the dark queen of something and was released by hurcules

I think?:hmmm:

That's right. Xena is a spin-off show. She was a villain in Hercules and was a warlord / lady with a dark past, but showed that she wanted to change. She was very popular in Hercules, and they decided to give her her own show.

It has done fantastically in its own right down to it starring a female heroine and other non-conventional characters and relationships which have appealed to minorities. It was quite new for its time.

I bought all 6 seasons last year and I've still not got through it. XD

I got into Sabrina and The O.C., True Blood etc and put it off. >.<

But it is such an awesome series!

I used to always watch it as a kid and I remember mum not letting me watch when Gabrielle and Xena kissed sometimes. XD

Odd relationship they had.

They'd be off with guys and then come back and share a kiss now and again.

Calysto was one of my favourite characters. Such a psycho chick!

And Julie Cooper from the O.C. actually played an Amizon in the second season I think too!

Awesome T.V. show!

Shoul'nt you be on MSN Argor?:lew:

Its not like late 90's were the dark ages:lew: but the world was on the verge of changing in a profound, and Xena held a considerable amount of female viewers who raved about it being time a Chick/woman/female was the lead in an adventure series I spent many a Saturday night on the couch watching Xena battle Callisto?

And the scene where Xena and Gabrielle were in the Spa/Pool thing:kinky:(F!@#$%^& pervert:lew:)

Made in New Zealand you know?
seems to be the place where all good and 1 epic truly epic Movie trilogy are/were made.

You mean an Amazon, Kandy? Right? :lew:

Xena was the inspiration for female action heroes, believe it or not. Those may include Buffy, Max from Dark Angel and so on. I'm glad I've got back into watching this once again. I just watched the pageant episode and seeing Xena in a blonde wig got me giggling a lot!
