Worst FF Couple?

Either because their personalities don't actually line up, they didn't really seem like they needed to be involved romantically, or they just are straight up not right for each other: Which couple was the worst paired couple, in your opinion, out of the entire FF series?

Agreed, Wakka and Lulu are seriously bad. Squall and Rinoa is another; it's weird, lacks any sort of connection and horribly try-hard. Squall has absolutely zero to offer anyone and Rinoa's singular personality trait is being a pick-me girl. Fair enough, it might seem that such boring characters are meant to be since they both have the emotional range of a teaspoon, but honestly their relationship seemed to make them even more 2D than the PS1 graphics.

Noctis and Lunafreya being betrothed despite not seeing each other since they were children (and, let us not forget, that they communicated during their teens and early adult lives by passing a notebook back and forth via their time-travelling dogs).

That was peculiar, but I guess it could be said that there was a point made about political marriages. Add to that the fact that they did seem to actually care about each other (or at least the 'idea' of each other), I can definitely understand Noctis feeling a bit weird about it all.

But they are not my 'worst'.

I honestly can't find a couple that I hate. But for the reasons people have stated above, I might have to jump aboard the Wakka and Lulu train. Don't get me wrong, Wakka and Lulu had been through a lot together and had a sort of understanding, and a shared loss/losses, but it seemed a bit forced. Like they wanted to show that the characters had changes in their lives for the sequel, and what better way to include Wakka and Lulu without using them in the plot itself but to throw them together and have them produce a baby which resembles a Christmas elf swaddled in giant flower petals?



P.S. I love how nobody is saying Quina and Vivi here.

Lucrecia Crescent and Vincent. Both are some of the worst relationships I had seen. His devotion to her after Dirge of Cerberus was terrible.

It's good that Squall and Rinoa have a terrible relationship. They'll break up, and Rinoa... Rinoa will be mine. Hehehehehe... Hehe.

I think about this from time to time actually! I definitely agree with you that they make a bad couple. I think Aerith is simply in love with the idea of Cloud since his telling story is, for obvious reasons to anyone that's played the game, parallel. I wonder if Cloud was actually in love with Aerith though, or if he subconsciously made that connection that Aerith was the girl from Zack's past stories. Or maybe a part of him was drawing to Aerith because of her connection to the planet. I'm not sure It's definitely more sad if he, as himself, was truly in love with Aerith though - it makes the story that more tragic in my opinion! But I do think Cloud & Tifa make a better pairing in the long run.

Agree. Looks life Aerith can't forget Zack. Tifa is the only girl for Cloud. Cloud and Aerith couple doesn't have any chemistry imo.

I think Cloud and Aerith never had the chance to fully embrace their feelings for each other. I think the point of their relationship was having things be unresolved and ended before they could take off.

if there's one couple I hate, it's Cloud and Tifa....the relationship just is nowhere near equal. and most ff7 pairings are this way.

I thought this was about worst chemistry not bad choices...

For chemistry I'd say Wakka/Lulu. I never got it...Maybe if I replay it I will? It is kind of unusual though so I'll give it that. I haven't seen such a mismatched couple in another game ( I think ).

As a hardcore CloTi supporter, after playing some of the remake it's incredible how much chemistry Aerith and Cloud have with each other and banter. When escorting her through the Slums I could not deny it. Tifa's decision to support Cloud's delusions have sometimes bothered me to be completely honest, but maybe she was confused herself.

I also like Rinoa and Squall together. I'm quite basic I guess.

For Vincent & Lucrecia, I haven't played through Dirge so I have very little insight but yeah their relationship wasn't developed much. We didn't quite get the why of why they liked each other.

Hojo and Lucrcia are the real yuck for me. Both the chemistry is bad and its connotations.
