There is something that bothered me since I last play FF8 and that I believe that FF is losing its manga style humor that enjoy so much. I had yet to play FF12 (or finished FFX) but I feel tht somehow along its transition to 3d that its humor is beginning to wane a little bit to the point where it is becoming bland. Is the series really losing its humor or is it just me?

Could be on to something.
I think the series has lost a lot the further it gets from its origins though.

Although are you a Fan of FFIX ?
Because that was fantastic, with good humor, beautiful CG and backgrounds, good story, many characters all tying into the story.

The newest games are different, but therse still a lot of humor!!!! Agree about FFIX, though!!! that's my favorite game;) I actually think that XII where a lot funnier, than VIII

When I think about it, the games are often more serious, with minor comical moments. That hasnt really changed tbh. Earlier games maybe, like, V/VI, are more comical then most.

Really?
I can't remember anything in FFXII being funny, whereas FFVIII definitely had humour.
FFX also didn't have much humour in it as far as I can remember.

What's Wrong With CHange...?

We Coming To Final Fantasy XIII, I Don't Think There Will Be A Final Fantasy XXI

Try New Ideas.. Some Things Don't Call For Humor...

The Planets Usually Under Siege...

hehe, yeah, like try having a game without some Blond Surfer looking dude in it :P

The humor in the older games wasn't that frequent really, it was just more memorable. I'd say that it was probably the colorful sprites and 2D graphics which made the earlier games seem more innocent and humorous, also due to the sprites, the humor and the characters reactions seemed more over the top.
I personally think that hands down, the most comical FF was FFIX. FFX and to a lesser extent FFXII still have a sense of humor, the funny moments just aren't as memorable though.

Exactly my thoughts SaSham. It isn't that modern Final Fantasy games have lost their humor but that the classic FF's expressed themselves in ways modern games cannot. Take this scene from FFVI. Back then the overly animated style didn't appear cartoony, it was just all they had. If they attempted the same style of humor today it would look very childish.

Ironically, BustaMo's sister also named hers Humpty and Dumpty.

i like the fact that the series is evolving. almost like it's trying to appeal to a more adult audience. FFIX, the funniest of the lot was my least favorite FF. and i do agree, the earlier ff's made it a lot easier to have funny moments. the fact that graphics weren't so realistic and conversations weren't full all out voice and what not; just snippets of text.

FFXII was hardly funny at all, and it's one of my favorites. change isn't bad. it's whether or not you change with it.

I've never really played FF for the "humour" - I've stuck with the series because I appreciate the work done by the creators to give us an awe-worthy strean of games, with lovable characters, memorable music and stories that are always one-upping the last.

If I have to say whether I think the series will become less funny in certain areas as time progresses, then I'll agree, but that's probably because it's taking a more serious and mature stance on issues.

I don't think humor is such a big deal.
Anyway, what was humorous was FF IV's Tellah's line... "You spoony bard!"
-Haha!

FFX and FFXII had a fair bit of humour - the difference was that due to the generally darker plot compared to earlier games in the series, it was a lot more subtle. Wakka and Balthier spring to mind, for I felt they brought a lot of brilliant subtle humour to their respective games.

I never really played the FF games for their perceived humour, though - I always liked them for the storyline, gameplay and immersion.

Final Fantasy VII and VIII were quite serious to me, but that didn't stop me from loving it! :D

FFIX was funny imo. In a very childish way. Still, calling the chick behind the door at the beginning a bitch was a nice surprise.
