Probably not a big revelation for others, but just something I was thinking about.

I first thought FFXIII coming out on the XBOX 360 was just a one time gimmick, but when I think about it, there's nothing really stopping Square-Enix from releasing future "main" FF games on the XBOX 360 along with the PS3, right?

...Yeah, that's all I got >_>

Personally, I don't think so. Yes, you've got FFXIII going out for the Xbox 360. However, FFXIV is only for the PlayStation 3 and Windows. Versus is going to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive.

I think that Square Enix is going to see how well the Xbox 360 sales go for FFXIII, and then they'll continue from there. However, from what I've seen, people may be disappointed with the 360 version, and Square Enix is bound to hear people's complaints about it.

If all goes well with FFXIII's 360 sales, or if they are better than predicted, you can bet that they will at least consider making future FF titles for the 360.

If I were to predict it, I would think that they would publish other titles, like Star Ocean or other new, original titles on the Xbox 360. That's coming from the Star Ocean IV release, and The Last Remnant.

However, going by how long it takes to produce an FF on an HD console, you could also predict an entirely new console before they start work on FFXV or FFXVI.

It'll depend on the sales of Final Fantasy XIII, if it sells well then maybe, if not then probably not. Star Ocean: The Last Hope, The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery all had horrible sales for the 360 so I think there may be a reluctance.

I'd expect to see Final Fantasy XIV hit the 360 when Square Enix and Micro$oft manage to solve the Xbox Live Policy issues they had, but that'll probably do well simply because every man and his dog knows how strong Xbox Live is.

This is more or less the answer. It will depend on sales. I don't think SE will bother considering releasing future FF games on Microsoft's console if FFXIII's sales on the Xbox 360 sales are atrociously bad. SE knew that having an Xbox 360 version of FFXIII wouldn't do that well (because of the lack of Xbox 360 popularity in Japan) so they kept it as a PS3 exclusive there.

However, that hasn't stopped Tri-Ace. Their last couple of games Infinite Undiscovery and Star Ocean: The Last Hope were met with sub-lukewarm applause and sales in both Japan and the west were not terrific at all. However that didn't stop them from making Resonance Of Fate multiplatform as well. If SE is like Tri-Ace, I guess there is a chance of FF being multiplatform in the future regardless.

Seeing as they're so keen to appeal to the west, I can see them doing that....

I'm getting a lot of anti Xbox 360 feelings from various Japanese game designers, so I'd say FFXIII may be a one-off. Although it doesn't require a great deal of effort to port something to the 360 if you made it for the PS3, I'd guess. Or vice versa. I suppose it does indeed depend on the sales.

I think that if they really want their games to sell, they should get off their collective backsides and work on bringing them to the Wii. The Wii sells. It may have the Crystal Chronicles series, but...well, really. A mainstream FF game on the Wii would sell like crazy, even if they didn't bother with motion controls.

Well, I agree on seeing how FFXIII 360 sells here. If it does good, who knows?
Besides, they've done ads for the game using the 360 logo lately, so it does say they're at least TRYING to get it to sell on it.
