Who is the strongest Hero in the series?

Strength as in character wise id say Zidane

I dont even need to explain why, if youve played the game you know.

he refused to give up, no matter what, and wasnt afraid to die. He realized that he still needed to make a stand even if it was futile because it needed to happen and that his action of defiance was bigger than him or any one person

that's why I think he's the strongest hero.

~If you mean strongest in strength then id say Cloud just b/c mako injections and whatnot lol.
~But character wise would be Zidane b/c monkey boy dont quit :x3:
~And emotionally strong is definatly Vivi i mean someone that young does not need to go through that much pain, but he does and he pulls through.......sorta.
~Now if by strongest you mean hotness then i'd say leo-oops i mean squall lol.

Squall and Cloud are the same if you ask me and I think Omnislash and Lionheart both have 20 hits and both can inflict 9999hp dmg per hit, gameplay wise Tidus is the strongest because only in FFX characters can exceed 9999dmg and go up to 99999dmg and Tidus's Blitz beats both Lionheart and Omnislash... Tidus is not the coolest but he's the strongest so far.

In terms of who they have defeated and what they have over come I have to give this one to Cloud, I mean talk about over kill at the end of Final Fantasy VII, and then in ACC he completely owned. Cloud Strife takes the cake.

Squall would be nothing without his friends, Cloud is a loner and does things his way.

Idk about hero, but as far as the strongest character i will go with Auron the ultimate badass. He is physically strong, demanding, determined and mature. No other character in the series rivals him.

Strongest. In physical terms, I'd say Cloud because he can carry that sword that's almost as big as himself.

In damage capacity I'd say anyone from FFX.

As for emotionally strong, I'd say (like quite a few of you) Vivi. The kid was so young, and tried to find out who he was. When did, he didn't like it. The things he had to witness in his journey were just devastating. Plus, he also learned that
his lifespan was limited
, and later on he just learned to accept it.

My vote on the strongest overall is Vivi. He can also destroy foes with his black magic, and grant Steiner some help if both were in the party during battle.

Squall would be nothing without his friends? I think it's the other way around, especialy in Advent Children the ones who cheered Cloud up was his friends he was ready to give up remember? Squall is the one who wants to do things alone because he doesn't want anyone else to get hurt, if you play dissidia you'll know what I mean... and why is Cloud so great anyway? he hasn't kissed a girl yet, Squall already kissed Rinoa in the end of FFVIII! and I bet Cloud is still a virgin! Cloud has never been in space! Squall on the other hand not only he's been in space but he rescued Rinoa out of the deep darkness! and then cleared a whole spaceship infested with aliens just to be alone with her! the only time Cloud gets spaced is with Sephiroth's super nova! ...and about Cloud's sword, it's big so what, Squall can make it even bigger with his Blasting Zone! have you seen that limit break? he can almost cut the whole Earth in half! ...like an apple! and not only that! in the final battle Squall defies gravity and fights Ultimecia in space! how cool is that?! the only thing about Cloud that defies gravity is his hair...
Squall... only... :busta:

I'm gonna have to go with Edward from FFIV. The fact that he comes with an ability called "Hide" just proves that he is the strongest character. It doesnt get much more useful than him.

But seriously, I am going to have to go with Squall for damage/strength.

Wait what? How does Cloud not having kissed a girl, (even though he totally hooked up with Tifa) possibly being a virgin, and "not having gone into space" (which he did in Cid's Rocket) have ANYTHING to do with him being strong?

Lol sorry to stray off topic but in AC Cloud and Tifa were living together. Do with that what you will.

well I gotta go off topic too and say that if we make assumptions about things we haven't seen then Squall could have gotten Rinoa pregnant that night and then married her

edit: @Cactuar1000 Cid's Rocket was a failure! like Apollo 13 failure... and space is all about power! even Sephiroth wanted to get rid of earth and travel to space... like Jenova!

Strongest in the series... I'm not going with Cloud. In order to be classified as strong one needs the physical and mental strength. I've always believed Cloud to be a whiny emo cunt, so I'm not going with him. :mokken:

I'm going to go with Zidane. He definitely has the mental strength, (although back on his home planet he kind of went all apathetic on everyone, but he pulled through), he's very fast, and you have to have some upper arm strength to use that duel bladed weapon thing he has.

So yeah, Zidane gets my vote. If not him, then Vivi, easily. :hmmm:

Zack Fair, obviously. He defeats Angeal, Genesis, and Sephiroth, and it takes an entire army of Shinra soldiers to bring him down. Cloud struggles just to beat Sephiroth, and in Advent Children Complete, Cloud needs a pep talk from Zack to finish Sephiroth.

Besides him, I'd say Cloud, then Zidane.

I actually posted something short in here a while back in favor of Auron, but this topic is interesting and after giving it some more thought, I wanted to add something that deals more with the actual "lead" heroes rather than just any possible PC you can have.

Considering I haven't played every game in the series, I can only go by the leads from the games I know--Cecil, Terra, Cloud, Squall, Zidane, Tidus, and Vaan. Out of those choices...

Physical strength:
Cloud or Squall. If I had all of the above characters in one party together and had to go through an area full of magic-immune monsters, these are the two characters I'd most likely spam physical attacks with. In terms of sheer force they seem to be tops; Zidane's hits (though decent) are not as great as Steiner's, and despite the fact that Cecil's forte is also the use of weapons, his capabilities are comparable to Kain's, and sometimes the damage he does to enemies of his own alignment (paladin :: holy; dark knight :: darkness) seems to be a bit average or lacking. I've normally found that Terra, Tidus, and Vaan also have somewhat average physical attack power compared to some of the other party members.

Magical strength: Terra or Zidane. Though I've rarely been able to use Terra's Morph function to any advantage (it only seems to last for a split second for me), in terms of the story overall I think her ability to transform into a half-Esper indicates that she is in possession of a great deal of magical power. The classic story of her "frying 50 magitek soldiers in 3 minutes" also shows that she has an unnatural amount of talent with it. And though Zidane's Trances may not qualify literally as "magic", they're close enough for me to put into this category I think :hmmm: His ability to draw up such forces as Solution 9 and Grand Lethal is quite impressive, and his Thievery skill is not bad either :D

Emotional strength: Even though I'll admit he's not my most favorite lead character, I actually chose Tidus for this one. Not only did he find out that
he was a mere dream conjured up by a bunch of ancient dead people
(which I thought he handled fairly graciously in the face of their audacity), but he
fell for a woman who was destined to die, and then lost her as a result of a dimensional technicality
. Furthermore, (and I thought this was the biggest toughie) his own father, who'd bullied him and whose limelight he'd lived under as a child,
became a monster that killed tons of people and attempted to destroy an entire world, which resulted in Tidus having to put an end to him--AFTER having learned from Auron and several Jecht spheres that his father did actually love him all along after all
:sad2: As far as emotional shit to deal with, I think any one of those things is pretty heavy, but to put them all together...wow. O_O All of the leads in FF have some sort of baggage of course, but I think that takes the cake. Cecil, Vaan, and Zidane's brother issues were pretty heavy as well, so those would probably tie for second place in my book :hmmm: But Tidus is definitely number one in that category.

Specificity of criteria is needed to properly answer the question.

As many have mentioned, Wakka of X would be top dog if we're going by pure gameplay mechanics and damage output. 99999 x 12; don't think another hero has topped that. In fact, by these standards, Cloud isn't even the strongest of VII, because Cid's Highwind has the potential for more damage than Cloud's Omnislash.

If, instead, we're going by what's established in the respective stories, I think Cloud (physical), Vivi (magical), Cecil (physical), and Terra (magical) are supposed to be stand-outs? Zidane, it's hard to say. He is supposed to be the
Angel of Death
, but I'm not really sure what to classify his type of power as - and the series suggests him more to be an overwhelming speedster than any sort of physical presence or magical beast.

Dissidia seems to be intended as an equalizer between the respective installments. In that, of the heroes, I think Cloud is depicted as the one with the best raw, physical strength. Meanwhile, I think Terra holds such a position in the magician's category. It'd be interesting to see how they fair if and when other characters are added though.
