I have completed 7 and 9 so far.

I got onto the third disc of 8 the other week when my memory card re-formatted itself and I lost my save data (will go and replay again one day as I really enjoyed it but really cba going drawing all that magic again)

My options are: 6, 10, 10-2, 12 or 13.

Which should I play next and why?

Andrew

I would say 6 first (I never played it before)
Play 10! (My favourite)
Then 12 (Awesome battlesystem imo and pretty large game)
Then 10-2.

Skip 13 :) Enjoy.

My favorite of the series is 10. Definitely play that one sometime soon. 10-2 isn't really a priority, it just continues the story and the battle system in this one is different. It kinda reminds me of like a pre-evolution to 13's.

FF12 is well... different. XD I really like the story and the characters, and the battle system feels a lot like an MMORPG to me.

FF13 is very linear, and a lot of people are bothered by that. I really am not, I like it when I can go from point A to point B in a game and actually accomplish something. I like all the characters in their own ways, and the battle system is awesome.

I've never played 6 (I know, blasphemy) so can't really give an opinion on that, but I really love 4 if you ever get a shot to pick that one up. Most people say 6 is the best in the series.

My order is 6, 10, 13, 12, 10-2 (can play this after 10 if you really like the story, but it's paced a little different).

Lots of people say 6 is good but I've never played it.

X is amazing, I'm actually replaying that now aiming to complete all the optional extras there are (and there are many). The story is pretty deep with lots of surprises and character growth, it has themes of family, love, betrayal, politics, death and religion - there's a lot going on there. X-2 I also liked, but it's a lot more laid back, it's set up in a mission-style system with chapters. Don't play X-2 if you haven't played X obviously because it's a sequel so it wouldn't make much sense in terms of the story and nothing else in it is as good.

XII is a pretty decent game as well. It's a pretty big game, the world of Ivalice is just enormous and there's a lot to do, sometimes so much that you lose the story while you're off doing side quests. The story in XII is very political, and focuses on the world more than the characters, but it tells a story from both the villains perspective as well as the heroes, which makes it seem more realistic in a lot of ways. The gameplay in this one is awesome, different but equally as good as X.

Leave XIII till last and expect it to be bad, because expecting anything else is setting yourself up for disappointment.

I suggest watching the trailers on youtube and going for whatever one you think looks best, because everyone likes different things. Have fun :)

I would definitely say X out of the ones you mentioned. FF 7-10 are the best FF's imo I'm not to crazy about any of their other products. Tried 5 and the story seemed really cliche to me. Tried 6 and I just couldn't get over the fact that I was playing as a girl so I only played that one for like 5 minutes...
X-2...tried it...played it for 10 minutes then gave up...I guess if you like playing dress-up this game is for you.
12- Horrible battle system...and story...
13- I'd rate this game at 5/10

I'd agree on playing X first, then afterwards you should play VI. I'm not too sure about XII (I haven't played it), but X-2 is ehh for me.

Play the most controversial games first (XII, then XIII), and then move on to the other games. Rethink them once you've played everything and judge for yourself their quality. Don't let other people tell you which games are good or aren't. You're the only one who can decide that for yourself.

I guess I'd go with X first. It's one of the golden age FF games. It's also not too hard on the eyes either as far as graphics go. I'm sure the story will be fantastic as well.
