What are your thoughts on the end of the game?

I loved it. I thought they did a good job of showing how everyone turned out. But I thought it was kinda lame that Zidane was gone so long.

I can see a couple months maybe. How long was he supposed to be gone? And what the hell was he doing the whole time?

I never really thought that he was gone for so long, maybe a couple of weeks i guess. He was probably trying to get out of the mess that the Iifa tree created for a short while, and after that he had to travel back to Alexandria, on foot. Which if i remember rightly was quite a distance.

I don't think it was only a couple of weeks, seeing how long Garnet's hair had grown.
Hair usually grows about 1 cm a month if I remember correctly. But ofcourse this game isn't called Final Fantasy for nothing, so that may mean nothing here.

Based on the length of Garnet's hair at the end of the game, I'm guessing it's quite a while later. The way Zidane came back to her was, indeed, epic but, at the same time ... he needs to sort out his priorities.

Oh yeah, i forgot about her hair length, it's been a while since i saw that ending. In that case I don't have a clue what else he was doing. But i have read about theories that Kuja survived?!, maybe Zidane was with him.

I think the aim of the ending - we don't know where he was or what he did all that time. It kinda gives that poignant and bittersweet feeling because you really want to know what the main character's been doing all that time, and for it to be clouded in mystery just really made the ending special in its own way. I'm betting that he was gone for about 3 or 4 years though.

I always wondered that, first thing I thought was how long Garnets hair was, and unless she's super human to get it to that length from what it was would take afew years at least...mines only just gone past the shoulders and it was only about a year ago that I had it cut to chin length......although you could probably add an extra 3 inches from what the idiot hairdresser took off....anyway...yeah *cough*

He can't have just been camping out in the Iifa tree......i dunno, it's quite annoying really, because it just doesnt make sense....he has to have been somewhere doing something.....:gasp:

Didn't the game say "one year later"

And lol, I had a vague fanfic idea floating around my head about this xD

I always thought that Zidane was trapped within those vines with Kuja for a while after we see him covering his body when the vines came down on them. Like, he was with him until he finally died, and then tried to get out of the constricting situation, which should have took a while.

I'd assume he's be really weak and tired by the time he gets out, and makes his way to the closest town around. Or maybe Tantalus group found him wondering or passed out or something.

From then, he's probably needs some extensive recovery time. Not just physically, but emotionally as well. But with the thought of seeing his beloved Garnet again, he can do it :3

And awesome guy he is, he wants to shock her with his return during play :monster:

I just think when Kuja died he went to Linblum and had fun there in bars. Drinked and slept with womans :D Then one day when he woke up and didn't remember not even one thing about last month. Then he wanted to get some girls... but he found out that no-one wanted him anymore, so he went to work in Tantalus again. Then he memorized that Garnet was beautiful, so he went to Alexandria and made a good show ;)
(That's how I think it was :D )

My guess:

Escaped the Iifa Tree with Kuja's body probably gave him a burial out of respect. Heavily weakened from doin' all this he spent some time recovering before finally setting out for home to Garnet. Eventually turning up in Lindblum he meets up with his buds, Tantalus, and they inform him of the play they're goin' to be doin' in Alexandria.....

I am really glad you asked this question. I always assumed he was recovering from his escape but I'm honestly not sure now that I think about it. It is odd that he inexplicably disappears for an indisputably "long" time at the end of the game without any explanation given. Maybe he spent a year in Prague teaching English. You know, slacking off a bit but really getting to know himself. Stewie Griffin.

I've always wondered this myself. I imagine escaping the Lifa tree did take quite awhile though, and he was most likely mentally and physically exausted after he accomplished the said feat. My best guess is that he rested up at a nearby town for awhile, and then set out for home. He probably knew that everyone thought he was dead though, so he couldn't just very well show up on Garnet's doorstep and say "Suprise, I'm alive!". So he somehow meets back up with his theater buddies, and comes up with the perfect way to reveal himself to Garnet ^^

Garland once mentioned that Zidane was created to be the next 'Angel of Death' after Kuja yes?

So, i assumed that the moment Kuja died, his powers heightened. Furthermore, it would seem from his expression then that perhaps emotions in him were increased somewhat. Which, perhaps, lead to a Trance mode, thus saving him.....

That was what i thought happened.

lol That's not the question though. Besides, you never know if Kuja died or not. The question is: From the time he saved Kuja from the Iifa Tree to the time he showed up in Alexandria, where was he?

Even if he was recovering and had to travel across country, he could have sent ahead. And for the theories that he ran across Tanatlus, that may be true but how did they move their ship without Mist? The whole thing seems very odd.

How long would it take to get from the lifa tree to alexandria without an airship/cargo ship etc etc?

Hope that answers your question.

I'm gonna agree with some things, and wonder on other things. Maybe he did get out? It was a distance. Not only that, but he'd need to find away to get back to the other continent. Fighting monsters, and stuff. Otherwise, who knows? It's something that remains to be seen. Curse you, Square-Enix for getting off so easily... *shakes fist*

That sounds good enough actually. That's what I think aswell. I mean, he didnt really have an airship to get back with right? So he had to walk al the way back from the iifa tree. Which may have taken a year or two.

Was it really that long of a time between scenes though? Well, ok, I guess it was since Vivi's reproduced about 500 times before we see Zidane again.

My guess is that he took time to sort out his life. Maybe abandon his life of thievery and deception, and was trying to set up a life for himself where he could support a girl/summoner like Garnet. I find it awesome that Garnet is willing to give up everything at the drop of a necklace to be with the one she feels the strongest for.

So really, I think Zidane just needed time to sort his life out and plan on how he was going to live from now on.
