Terra has green hair in the video game yet in the fmvs and dissidia she is blonde.. Its kind of a disappointment, personally I prefer her green haired sprite. Anyone knows why they changed?

I've wondered this as well....even in the PS FMVs she turns blonde. I don't really understand why they would want to change her hair color like that. I rather prefer her with the green hair like her sprite has. I prefer a green haired Terra. It kinda goes well with the whole
she's half esper, half human. Green could represent her more 'animal' or 'wild' side aka her Esper heritage

Just my two cents

When the artist Amano designed the character, Terra had blonde hair rather than green.

When they put Terra into the game in sprite form, they changed her hair to green. They felt that the green hair was more exotic and reflected her status as
half Esper
. It also helped to keep her separate from other blonde haired characters in the game, such as Celes.

Amano often designed his characters to be blonde, and his designs were often altered in their sprite forms. Faris from FFV was designed to be blonde too, yet in FFV her sprite had her as purple. Reina / Lenna was also blonde, I believe.

Their use of a blonde Terra merely reflects her original concept design, and not her sprite.

Ah, thank you for that tidbit of info Gingerbread Man. I remember Amano's design having Terra's hair blonde but I really didn't think of that. And I didn't know about the FFV characters also having blonde hair in their original designs. I still prefer the green hair on Terra. Every FF girl being blonde or brunette gets old. Green hair, purple hair, etc are awesome :D

Isn't her hair both colors in dissidia? :hmm:

Well .. Im enlightened about this now. Yet.. I think they should have kept her with green hair full time. It sucks that sometimes she's blonde(Dont interpret this sentence wrong its ONLY about Terra having green hair not hating on blonde people :P)

I think also another reason why they made her hair green in the SNES version is because they didn't want people to confuse her with Celes. Though during the PlayStation AMV's her hair is her official blonde. Locke is meant to be blonde as well. They didn't want to show his face during the PS one AMV because they didn't want new players to confuse him with Cloud who is a popular blonde. However Locke has straight flat hair and Cloud is manga spiky soo don't really see the reason for that one.

Mostly everybody in FF6 is blonde so I prefer Terra with her SNES green like shade. It makes her more unique and a change of colour is nice between Sabin, Edgar, Kefka, Celes, Locke, Leo and Relm all being blondes.
:hmmm:

Actually Amano, who designed Terra, makes nearly all his character's blonde in his art -- He makes Rinoa blonde, Garnet and even other characters who are clearly not intended (Tifa, Selphie, Squall) to be blonde, I think its just something Amano does, y'know, his own artistic touch.

Terra's hair is definitely intended to originally be green; I think that's one of those things Dissidia messed up, personally.

I always noticed the discrepancy, but never questioned it that much. Thanks for the info! I prefer seeing her with green hair since that's the way I first saw her.

I don't know but I wish I had hair that changed color.
Terra Branford,

help us! you're the terra fangirl! :ahmed:

I remember reading that Amano made his characters blond in his art because brown and green messed up his lines (I don't remember the official term for them, sorry artists. xD). That's why Squall has blond hair in his artwork, but he's actually supposed to have brown. But then again, he later went on to be able to color their hair differently, so maybe the interview was mistranslated or something.

I personally believe her hair is supposed to be green, to signify she is part Esper. I also think it has something to do with her parents hair color as well--a mix of blond and Maduin's tealish-green hair?

I think that too. Very big mistake. Well, that and they didn't give her a sword to fight with. :C
Wanderluster

I have directed this before in the last thread about her hair. Unfortunately, there isn't much I can bring to answer why they switched it around. :(

But I can say that making her hair green in those CGI movies would have looked really, really terrible with what they had.

I find it hard to believe why that was hard to figure out. Never played the game fully. Its like asking why gilgamesh in dissidia looks nothing like gilgamesh in dissidia.

Alot of these are based on yoshitaka amano's artwork first, sprites later. You can also look at warrior of light, firion, cecil and bartz.

LOL I was wondering about this as I was playing. I just thought maybe I was going crazy because it was late at night. I do like the green hair look better than blonde though. It makes her more unique and gives her an identity that's her own in the game. She's not just blonde girl #3 .
