what did you think was the hardest game on your old consoles mine i thought was either aladdin or lion king i know it sound like im a crap gamer but thier hard

I'd say that from the third level Mario was quite hard and annoying. So was the old Prince of Persia. Sorry, I have never played Zelda ^_^

my hardest game has to be the old Ace combat games coz the planes dont turn no matter what you do and it takes ages to re-arm their missles

I think that Super Star Wars for the snes is pretty hard. A lot of the older RPGs because they don't tell you what to do pretty much like todays games. And its harder to level up on them. Like Final Fantasy for nes.

One that springs to mind, although it may not yet count as "classic" due to it being on the Gamecube, but Ikaruga was a pain in the rectum to complete. It would've been hard enough without the colour changing system, but when you add that into the mix, it made me want to throw my controller at someone.

I'd say Mortal Kombat games if you lost you'd have to start all over again, you can't pause the damn game so when your mom calls you you have no choice than to let your lil' bro to play and hope the he can stay a way from Goro long enough for you to make it back and stand a fighting chance. Good Times.

Dinosaur was quite hard, although I finished it in the end... I'm not too sure about the hardest. >_< Erm, what else did I struggle with on my PS1?... The final level on Spyro 1 was hard. I never did hit Gnasty Gnork the 2nd time. I was 1 hit away and couldn't glide far enough in time!! T_T

As for GBC games... Well, I dunno if I found many difficult on my GBA. I finished most of my games back then.

Let's see...
-Home Alone Two
-Super Star Wars
-The Lion King
There were some others but I can't think of them at the moment.

I actually found the old Mario Bros series kinda hard, but of course, that was because I was only a kid when I first played. I'm sure by now I wouldn't have the same thoughts. I did play The Lion King too (I believe for Sega Genesis), but I could not get past the stampede part and entirely gave up.

Mario. I can't beat it. Tired of hearing about the Princess being in another castle.

Pac-Man....same situation, but the ghosts get way to fast...

Super Star Wars. Normally, I like platformers. But this one, sheesh, to many instant death falls..

Wing Commander (3DO). One of the best flight sims EVER. Only problem: You can not pause the game. I get stuck on the skipper missles (Imagine a teleporting Nuke. You have to shoot it down before it hits your fleet)

Ikaruga is disgustingly hard and most shoot 'em ups for the SNES were pretty difficult. Some that come to mind are Gradius III and Super R-Type. The former has no mercy, if you play on easy, you will still lose. Badly I might add.

Final Fantasy II for SNES was pretty damn hard. Anyone ever beat the Ancient Cave challange in Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals for SNES? It's said to be one of the hardest feats in gaming history...

I agree... FFII was the hardest freaking game EVER! Even the PSone remake was rather unforgiving... I feel like I have to save after every random battle I go through... -__-;

I always shudder at the mere mention of 00 Agent Control Center on Goldeneye 007 (N64). I got arse-raped by the sentry drones on many occasions in this area all thanks to their ultra acute sensors and rapid fire. But if that was just for warm ups, then the real nitty-gritty lies in protecting Natalya from wave upon wave of guards whilst she's taking her sweet time fiddling with the computers in the control room. It's practically no room for error from here on in, and if there is any, you're basically screwed.

This alongside other levels like the 2nd Bunker and the Aztec made Goldeneye one of the hardest games I've played in my teenage years.

Kid Icarus for the NES is a very hard game. Even to this day I can only get passed the first level and no further.

It sucks because the only store I have ever gotten to was waaaaaaaay to expensive for me <.<

i think that the hardest game for me on the old consoles was The Legend Of Zelda: ocarina of time, it was really difficult when i needed to get the sword of time because i got lost inside that huge monster that i had to get into, but i got through it in the end and the challenge made the game well worth it, that it made zelda one of my favourite games for the nintendo 64 as well as mario 64 which was also a good game and if i remember rightly, i havent finished it yet

the lion king was hard the hakuna matata level kept getting me think I only completed it twice. For me atomic runner was the hardest game I have played

Earthworm jim. Not the first level, seconds level, last level or most any level
but that one level with the little submarine with limited air was a bitch.the source of much frustration for my childhood.
