As for the XIII series, I don't really understand why there's such a big gap between how people who hate it and people who love it. It's true that the first game was linear and not much freedom as preferred why westerners, but the story was something that doesn't revolve around the same theme as the previous ones. The battle system is designed that way because the pace is fast and time is important in the battle system. There's no way you command all party members using the same ATB system as the one's in the past. If XIII was so bad, then SE wouldn't have made a sequel. It'd be "dull" and "lifeless" if everyone just kept playing the same theme over and over again. (I'm not saying that's what I think for Versus).

Lots of people were torn over VIII as well, I guess it just split a lot of views, as did XIII. I didn't like XIII for a lot of the reasons that other people liked it, people have preferences. I like good story, I like slower battle, I like having choice when it comes to leveling my characters and strengthening their weapons. I like to have a world to explore and I like to have characters that develop. I didn't get any of this from XIII and that's why I dislike it.

SE made a sequel because XIII sold extremely well. Why did it sell well? Because people didn't know how awful it would be before they had played it.

I am lookin forward to Versus. I wouldn't say I love it, because I haven't played it yet, but I think it looks good and I think it looks like it will have a lot of elements that I like in a game.

What little we've seen of Versus has got me personally excited just because it looks darker and more serious (I'm deeply boring -_-) I like the look of the city environments and it has the potential to be great. Having said that I haven't played a FF game I loved since X. :(
 
Well from the Trailers and all, it looks like it's gonna be sick and also, many people would most likely love it because it's being created by the Kingdom Hearts team and that game was such a huge succes. And some people can't handle turn-based -.-

??? We haven't had turn-based since FFX. I miss turn-based but it looks like we'll just have to deal.
 
I for one am not in the least bit excited for this new FF title. I watched the trailer and from the looks of it, it has the least amount of classic Final Fantasy elements of any game so far. It's also so soon after FFXIII-2 that they obviously are being hasty in making it. I think I can safely assume this is going to be another terribad game masked with breath-taking visuals. and you will all love it because you're a bunch of easily amused puppets.

I am pretty sure Versus has been in the making for like... over 6 years haha AND they don't even have the release date for it yet, or have even given any clues as to when it might be released, it could still take another 2 years for all we know. So I don't think they're being hasty in making this at all.

That being said, I still don't care much for it and am not really excited.

give me a break, 6 years in the making? I highly doubt it. release date or not, it's safe to say versus will drop around x-mas or early next year.
 
It has been in the making since 2006, that is when the first information came out about it and what they've told everyone. Calm down, mate.
 
However full production development for Versus only started in 2011. They mainly focused on FFXIII, FXIII-2 and Type-0 first, so saying that SE started 6 years ago is inaccurate. They just teased the shit out of this game.

It might be the best FF ever or be the worst shit ever pooped out by SE or just mediocre hehe.
 
Ah ok that clears things up, I just did a quick google search and that was the info I found.
Makes more sense now. Though still doubt it'll be out by early next year.
 
My thougts:

1. SE has been dissapointing me as of late so i bet Versus will be dissaponting too.

2. Too Human and Duke Nukem took, well forever to come and at the end wasnt worth the wait, the same will be for Versus as well, you may said "But they arent SE", thats exactly why i not have hope for Versus.
 
With this new C coming out soon in 2012, this makes me think that SE are too busy working on other projects than focusing on Versus.

Theater- rhythm, KH 3D, FF XIII-2 and now this new C. Also knowing SE these days, I bet they have more spin offs and other projects hidden away from the public eye at the moment.

They keep on juggling all these games and Versus gets further and further away from being completed. They're being really silly.

Also I've seen pictures of a another KH game with Sora standing next to Aqua and a mysterious person. So that's another few months of Versus being pushed aside.

If I was really hyped up and really wanted this game, I would be so angry. :argh:

 
Personally im waiting for this game because i buy all the FF games, but MOSTLY because of what happened at the end of XIII-2 and what they show in the trailer of Versus, did any1 else see any similarities in the end of XIII-2 and the trailer for Versus?

If they ever decide to link FFversus and XIII-2, just imagine the versus fans rage over how versus is tainted with the FFXIII story. Not saying the FFXIII series is bad. I quite like the story. As much as I don't mind some kind of link between the two, I don't think it's a wise decision for SE to do so.

It isn't a wise thing to do. I didn't buy XIII-2 because I disliked XIII so much, if it turns out Versus is part of a continuation and linked heavily with XIII I'll think twice about buying it as well. I don't want to waste my money on something I'll hate and I can't be the only one.
