Hey fellors, tell me what your favorite rpgs are on the ps1? I havent played much of the japanese rpg type games and am looking to try some more of them.
Already have these ones, Final Fantasy 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, Koudelka. Only played an beat FF 1-6 and Koudelka oh also Chrono Trigger so far tho. Im playing the FF stuff in order, and starting FF 7 now.

Here's my list of too buy ps1 rpgs:
Xenogears - i'll probably get this one next as i hear some fellors telling me its a nice game.
Suikoden 1 n 2 - probably get these after i play xenogears altho they are expensive as all hell.
Chrono Cross - i played chrono trigger already. just about 2 years ago and it was my first jrpg i tried. Too bad the i cant remember what that frogs name was in CT glen or somebody. Too bad he's not in chrono cross, as i think he was the best character in chrono trigger.
Parasite Eve 1 n 2: Im really into horror games also so i'll get these guys for sure.

And thats all i have on my too buy next psx rpg stuff, ive heard of these but im not sure about them. I'll probably watch some reviews of them on utube later on.
Legend of Dragoon, Vagrant Story, Wild Arms, Valkerie Profile.

Well fellors, tell me what your favorites are on ps1 an maybe i'll be able to try some of them someday.

Parasite Eve
FF 7
FF 8
Legend of Dragoon (this one is great I highly recommend it)

Haha that's all that I've played and actually enjoyed!

The name of the frog in Chrono Trigger was ...well, Frog. :)
You're right though, his name is Glenn when he was human.

I guess you could try Breath of Fire-series? At least part III was for psx. I didn't personally enjoy it as much as I did the FF games and the Chrono series, but some people really like it so I guess it's a good jrpg by popular opinion.

My favourite RPGs on the PS1 were FFVII & IX as well as the IV, V and VI ports, Tales of Phantasia and Legend of Mana. Though I also had Chrono Cross and Grandia, I haven't played nearly as much as I should have on them, but the general opinion is that they're both extremely well designed, though perhaps somewhat overlooked RPGs. From the little I've played, I'd definitely agree with that. Breath of Fire III & IV are also usually held with some esteem by fans, if not so much critics, so they may be worth a look, though I cannot comment personally on them.

Well staying away from Final Fantasy RPGS...

I'd say the best ones are

Suikoden II- Amazing story, amazing character, amazing game play, game is just amazing

Breath of Fire III- A classical feel to a great RPG

Xenogears- Amazing game, with great game play, graphics a bit blocky, but it is still amazing.

Vanguard bandits- Another great one, its a tactical rpg, but still amazing

I thought the Arc the Lad games were pretty good. Haven't finished the 3rd game yet since I let my friend borrow it almost 10 years ago and I just got it back a few months ago. -_- But I enjoyed the games.

Another one is Lunar 2: Eternal Blue. This is a classic!! I fell in love with all the characters and has such a thoroughly engrossing story. Awesome soundtrack too. I started Lunar: Silver Star Story last year. Excellent game as well, though I haven't finished it. I have the PSP version though; the original is way too expensive now.

Grandia is also quite the masterpiece. Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger...they're simply the best.

Of course, can't fail to mention the FF games. :D

If you are willing to spend over a hundred hours and a hundred dollars, Dragon Warriror VII is a great traditional RPG. It is very hard and the graphics are pretty bad (the characters are 2D sprites, even though the game was released in 2001). You can't go wrong with any game in the Dragon Quest series.

Chrono Cross has a ton of replay value by RPG standards. There are around forty characters in the game that you can acquire (I think you have to play it at least three times) to get them all, and there are over a dozen different endings (I think), so if you're a completionist looking for a game to spend A LOT of time with, you should definitely consider Chrono Cross.

One game that I've seen recommended here is Legend of Dragoon, though I'd stay away from that game. The translation and story in that game are both absolutely terrible, and the gameplay is extremely watered down by any standards. The most fun you can get from playing it is successfully completing the annoying "Additions" (combos). I played through most of the game (3rd Disc) a month ago, but I just hated it too much to complete it. The game does have really commendable production values, though, so I might give it a look if you've already played the "canon" PSone RPGs.

Suikoden II - really great game, one of my all time favourite RPG's ever. Too bad my disk failed me and I never got to finish it ;_;
FFIX - amazing RPG if you're into final fantasy (which you should be if you're on this forum) best characters in any RPG
FFVII- Not as good as IX to me but still great.

FFVII - Of course this is on my top PS1 RPG's, loved everything about it (even the gigantic hands)

FFIX
Legend of Dragoon
Legend of Mana - I know not many people like this game, but it's one of my favorites in the PS1 Era

Chrono Cross
