On Twitter late-night news, Square Enix President and CEO Yoichi Wada has commented on the 2010 release date for Final Fantasy XIV, saying only “God knows” when this year the game will release. He’s also confirmed that he is, in fact, not a God.

“Someday in 2010,” he said in regard’s to Final Fantasy XIV’s release date. “God knows. I’m not a god. RT @i_Cxplorer When Final Fantasy XIV will be release”

Well, at least nobody’s saying the game’s been delayed to 2011, right?

I don't think he is suggesting that it will take a long time, just simply saying its hard to tell when it will be released. That's almost always the case with video games, especially MMO's :busta:

Yeah, it's an MMO. I can imagine that foreseeing when they can be launched is a much bigger headache than when it comes to regular offline games. Still, at least 2010 at the moment still looks rather plausible. The beta and alpha tests shouldn't be long now.

I wouldn't mind too much if SE does delay it a bit. Sure, it will annoy people as ever and there will be the few abuses hurled at SE, but seeing as I will probably never play FFXIV, I'm in no hurry to see it. xD

"God knows" :D.

I think that's brilliant.

Though saying it will be someday in 2010, despite not saying when, is still good news. I'd expected that there would be a delay into 2011, so hearing this is great.

Yes because god knows the answer to everything :mokken:

They should at least give us an estimate as to when in 2010 :hmmm: even if they don't exactly know so that we people can prepare (well those getting it)

Hopefully it comes out before 2011 though.

I can see it no earlier than 2011 to be honest, having followed the alpha reports quite vigorously it seems far, far from a finished project. Then you've got closed beta's followed by a possible open beta then anything that needs changing on top of that. Overall there's still a hell of a lot to do, translating (which seems to take SE forever) etc. If, if, it were to come out in 2010 I would see it no earlier than December.
