I was just wondering if anyone unlocked Vincent without a guide or someone telling you because I don't think it's possible to guess the code!!!
Is there some clue that I missed out?

I used a guide, It was pretty difficult I have to admit, but someone had to do it in the first place to of made a guide.

Isnt the code somewhere in the mansion. I definately got him first time around, and never used a guide.

yeah the code is in the mansion but you need a starting point otherwise you wont know where to go or how to do it.

I never even unlocked Vincent. >___<;; I'm a bad FF player. haha. I didn't have a guide and I just gave up on it.

i figured out how to get him pretty quick i think. but i was real new at the time so i couldn't kill the boss for the key. i'm pretty sure i only found vincent on my second run through as well.

There are clues in a letter located in the first room on the left when you enter the mansion as to where to find the combination, but I used a guide the first time and the numbers stuck with me after that.

i did it without a guide, the only clue i hated was the box with the most oxygen, i kept thinking of the piano, which i hated

yeah, after searching all the big crates/boxes i could see

afterwards i had the wonderful time of beating the boss which was a pain in the neck and i can only beat him when he is red, on purple he is incredibly difficult

It's pretty easy to find Vincent without the guide. Once you run into the first code, you realize that there are more. It just takes a long time to figure out where each one is. It took me a PRETTY long time to find all the codes.

As for realizing that Vincent is even a hidden character...when I first played...first first played when I was a little kid, I had no clue he even existed. He's a pretty well hidden character. XD

Yuffie was pretty obvious since she kept running in to me in battles.

Dont read below f you dont want the spoiler

In ther room on ur left or right I can remember as you just entre the mansion there is a peice of paper, there it gives u clues on how to find the combination to the safe. I cant remember what the clues are, too much alcohol recently. Bummer. lol

When you first walk into the mansion, walk left...it's the very first room you enter...there's a little subsection. The paper gives you clues, but they're really not helpful. lol.

depends on how good you are with misleading clues
the most annoying one after the piano one is the steps near the basement, i kept counting the running steps til i thought "wait a sec! why not walk! (genius)"

after that i found it no problem still had to write down the codes though

I didnt find him on my first run through until someone told me about him, but then i just followed the clues in the letter, the only one that stumped me was the piano one

I had to use a guide for both finding vincent and to beat the boss, It took me a few attempts to kill the boss, I only got him on my second play through though.

im pretty good with puzzles and stuff like that cause i play a lot of rpg's...but back when i first played this game around 9 or 10 years ago, yeah i had to use a guide. though beating the boss ended up being more challenging.

No, I didn't use a guide, but I first heard about Vincent from a friend, because I had no idea he existed before then, believe it or not. :P
I was wondering though why the screen showed a room on the top portion on the pathway to the underground library.

But yeah, like some people have already said, there is the code book when you first enter the mansion, it's a bit complex but it's relatively easy to understand once you get going. Recommendation: level up enough so that you're able to beat the monsters in a single round or single hit. Walking around the place will exhaust 'ya gotta admit. :P

I miss hidden character like Vincent in FF games, I dont think any have appeared in FF games since seven, oh and tactics had some as well.

During my first run-through, I failed to get him until much later on. I read about the codes from somewhere, and decided to investigate without a guide. Took me about an hour to get them all, and I could help but feel disappointed with the fact I didn't get him sooner.

I just wrote down the codes after that. No need to look up the locations. :monster:
