This is the version I have on my iPod because I love Dead Can Dance but many, many people (including people who are actually Irish) have created their own versions.
Very sad lyrics, as a lot of these Irish ballads tend to be.
We're all human, we're just like you man
We're sentient or something or other
I can't remember, whatever
We shouldn't have people afloat
If it was safer on the ground, we wouldn't be on a boat
Charlatan telepathy, exploiting insecurity, and preying on the purity
Of grief and its simplicity but I know that maybe I'm too sceptical
Even Guy Debord needed spectacles, you see
I'm the Greek economy of cashing intellectual cheques
And I'm trying to progress, but instead of selling sex...
And I think I should be... loving someone
Whilst the slower Gary Jules cover might be more popular, the original Tears for Fears version is also great and I love the beat (particularly the bit at 2:25). It's got a completely different feel to it, but the theme of a 'mad world' is still very strong.
Excuse me - We need to talk! I thought this was going to be a completely different song you posted - And since Wednesday I've had both your song and my song running through my head. Back to back!
I'm not usually into sad love ballads, but I love Susan’s voice and it builds up wonderfully here.
Like most here, I know Susan mainly through her FFXIV songs (and interviewing her for this forum was a rather wonderful experience for me), but I've enjoyed the tracks of her original material too (which includes upbeat rocky tracks as well). She's a great songwriter.
