Username Changes in User CP

The username change system is now automated.

To change your username, go to User CP->Edit Email, Password & Username (you must re-enter your password to change your username). Members will be allowed to change their usernames once every 30 days. Once you change your username, the option will disappear until the 30 days is up.

Staff, Veteran Members, and Senior Members may change their name as often as they wish.

I did not close the original change request thread, I suppose you can do a request. Or just post here and I'll change it for you (only applies to this case).

I had neglected to edit permissions for Member and Full Member usergroups. It should work now.

Just for the record, they won't be able to change their names everyday. Once they change their name, they have to wait a period of 30 days before changing it again.

Won't confuse anyone smart enough to click on someone's profile and see who they used to be. If they can't figure out how to do that, I say they deserve to be confused

I love the fact that this is back. It was possible for a very brief time quite a while ago. It just emphasises that the person in question really was incompetant in these matters. He claimed it was too difficult to restore.

I don't know about smart enough. If you have no idea the profile name feature exists, you'd only find out by happenstance. Most people have never changed their names, so most profiles won't indicate the history feature exists.

Hahah, I probably shouldn't have mentioned anything. I distinctly remember Darkblade telling me how he couldn't keep it running. We lost a fair few features on the site after he attempted to merge two forums together ... and failed.
