The worst thing about being unemployed, is other unemployed people, I was waiting to see Jo today about my job hunting shit, and in walks someone I used to work with

'Thought you had a job' I ask

'ehhh, I quit, Im living with the missus, rent paid and that, easy life, im only here because my mate told me you get 200 quid for getting back into work'

(Ive struggled because Im a single parent and I hit abit of a wall on the job hunting front)

So Im assuming, hes gunna get a job, get this 200 quid, then quit :hmph:

Im like, we get 200 quid for getting a job? I dont remember being told this, I just wanted a job...hes like yeah, i just want the money.....

Why are folk getting PAID to get a job...talk about bribery, and I can just imagine a lot of folk doing what he's gunna do, get a job and fuck it off once hes had this money

Apparently it's a charity, but I can't see it running much longer if people end up back in the dole queue after getting this money.... they should just scrap it, its a bad idea....problem is that money would be really helpful to people that are genuinely looking for work and have been out of work for a while, just to give them a boost to get started off.... or at least, check the emplyment history to see if they have form for walking in and out of job like that. Im amazed he qualified to sign up to the scheme considering he quit his job. Actually, today was his starting up appointment, with any luck the guy had the sense not to take him on :hmph:

Like, they shouldnt even bother, Im not arsed about GETTING that 200 quid, Im just grateful for the help Ive had with getting my CV wriiten up *(I failed bad on my own, ive never had to do one because I was always employed til i left my last job for various reasons) and the whole load of places that i was made aware of for job searches and shit

Why make it so easy for people like him to get money like that =/

Id rather not get it and stop people like him screwing the system over. He HAD a job and just fucked it off for the 'easy money' :ffs:

Imnot opne for TSF so if folk think its better over there, feel free to move it. I just fancied a rant :8F:

edit* thats all come out abit mishmashed as i wasnt really thinking about it, i was ranting :mokken:

Just a way to manipulate the system.

Here at the community college in town. People would sign up, get money for books and all that shit, then drop out. It's pretty much the same thing and it probably won't go anywhere.

I don't blame him though. Got plenty of money and go fill out some paper work for some money? That's easy cash right there.

yep, just taking advantage of a situation.

I don't really think what he's doing is right by just quitting his new job straight away because he's got the money, but I've taken advantage of financial opportunities too; like getting paid for market research, when I had no opinion whatsoever of what that company was making.

this is how the system works kelly. people capable of working get benefits for not working, and they milk the state for everything and the people who are genuinely out of work and want a job dont get any help unless they somehow manage to come across an obscure government advert that says "WE CAN HELP YOU".

most people arent THAT stupid so why set something up like that when you know it'll do more harm than good...well not harm...it'll just leave you with less money and fuck all to show for it.

its just the way of things though :sad3:

My uncle has been on dole for almost 6 months now and his wife has 2 jobs to keep them going. Its ridic as they try and send him to Blackburn and Stoke-On-Trent for work when he lives in Manchester and cant freaking drive!!! He wants a job so badly, hes fed up and hates seeing his wife nearly ill for working so hard. And they have 3 kids. Hes not a lazy man and lost his job with loads of others cause hes manual labour.

My friends friend has just been sacked from her job for being off for 3 weeks without a sick note and claims shes going to sue the company, get health benefits, get on the housing list and live it up a bit! Im paying for her to sit on her arse and do fuck all! I hate people like this.

I hate people who milk off the system. Hopefully, that'll all change with a new government.

Now I do sympathise with people like Kelly, who have another mouth to feed and get on in this world. However, I absolutely despise people who get money for looking for a job. It's pathetic and really silly. It's no wonder the economy's in debt after all.

It annoys me as well, there are very few jobs going around Manchester now and its so bad I'm actually moving to Belfast to find work. I've been unemployed since I was working in a hotel about a year ago and there was no hours going around at all for anyone. I was a student, so I had the loans coming in but its still very little money to work with when you take rent into consideration.

I'm not completely unemployed and no longer a student, had a wee look around the job centre the other day, buttons going on. The funny thing is I did find a job, a security job, which you now need a licence for, which costs £250 or something, and I cant afford it and the job centre in Manchester pretty much told me to fook off. Luckily the one in Belfast said theyll give me it.

Sad state of affairs when you need to pay to work.

'Thought you had a job' I ask

'ehhh, I quit, Im living with the missus, rent paid and that, easy life, im only here because my mate told me you get 200 quid for getting back into work'

0_o Where does he get the idea that he doesn't have to help pay for shit?

I can't stand people like that. Anyone who doesn't have kids to look after or who don't have a physical disability are just lazy.

I don't get it when I hear of some unemployed girls who live with their boyfriends and spend all the hard earned money they earn on their nails, clothes etc.

Annoys me. <_<

Anyway, why the hell are they rewarding people for getting a job? It's not something you should get a big shiny gold star for, it's just something you have to do if you want to get by in the world. 0_o

Why is that lazy people like this get hand outs, while people like me who have always done the right thing and had a full time job get nothing?

I get no freebies because I don't have a kid and because I'm already employed.

Makes me sick seeing people like this get shit handed to them. <_<

That's messed up. You have someone who is honestly looking for a job getting bumped by some screwball like that. People who try to play the system like that need to get at least blackballed, or blacklisted. Anyways I hate people like that, i know a few personally that i would just like to :rage:

I mean they should at least check references right?

Tee-bee-aych, in this sad state of economy, perhaps it is time to start rewarding people for getting a job, but moreso for keeping hold of one. Perhaps slightly bigger pay raises every few months by 25 cents or so would encourage people to hang onto what they have now, rather than just up and handing someone 200 quid.

Currently I'm unemployed and it sucks. I have to rely on EI to help me out but when I have my boyfriend's Work Permit to pay off as well as his plane ticket within two months, EI's just not going to cut it. At best I may get 300 a bi-weekly for it. =/

I have a job now but i have gone through periods of unemployment and even got paid for looking for work by my state. Your sad cuz you dont have a job but once you get one your sad still cuz you miss your free time you used to have lol. its kinda a love hate thing when it comes to jobs.
