Under rated bands?

We have over rated, here's under rated.

Firstly, The Feeling. They haven't released a song in about a year now, but they never really got any due recognition I think. Their album was amazing.

Foals. They're pretty unheard of, which is a big part of it but they're not totally unknown. They have an album out in a few months, and they were the band that played live at the Skins Secret Party, so they've had decent publicity.

I would say the cure because i love em and only one of my friends has ever heard of them, but even then she has only heard the lovecats. A lot of people have probably heard their songs though without realising who they are.. Friday I'm In Love is amaaazing =D

Super Furry Animals spring to mind. They've been one of the most consistent bands in the UK for the last 10-15 years with a string of strong albums, but have never really had much wide attention.

Terry Hall? My dad was talking about him earlier today and said that considering all of the music he has been involved in, including writing a lot of songs which other bands have covered (e.g. The Lightning Seeds - Pure) he does not get enough recognition as the musical wonder that he is.

The Zutons. They are classic. But what annoys me is that people go on about Amy Winehouses Valerie (sp). The Zutons did a better version, but when you mention them, they havent a clue.

Never been a big fan of the zutons tbh, always thought they were more over-rated than under..
BUT I know what you mean with the cover version thing. It's like when cascada covered Savage Garden's Truly Madly Deeply, and everyone was like 'OMG ITS THE BEST SONG EVURRRRRRRR' but they had never even heard of savage garden, who did it sooooo much better >=(

Matthew Good/Matthew Good Band. Typically unheard of for the most part, outside of Canada... And the only reason i heard of them was an anime music video my sister showed me that was set to 'Weapon' with Naruto as the anime. (This also introduced to the Naruto series... the music video made it look so kick-a**!)

Neon Blonde, they half of the blood brothers, but they are better.

I totally agree about The Feeling. My best friend really loves em.

As for me? I think that Keane could be under-rated sometimes. They do a lot of charity work and Tom just has the voice of a god!

That last remark was quoted by Peter Kay at the War Child gig at the Manchester Apollo, which I went to.

Another one; The Academy Is...
I know they're pretty big in the US, but they get little recognition in the UK. Both of their albums are great, and yet too few people have heard of them. =/

I'm vaguely surprised this hasn't devolved into the typical "I'm more indie than you, I know more obscure bands than anybody" conversation. That's quite nice.

Hmm... I used to love them and they're really amazing performers when you see them live. But I really think that they changed too much when they recorded their second album. Their innovation and original style seems to have faded away; they're starting to turn into just another failed attempt at progressive "indie" (i.e. not really indie, but mainstream in disguise) rock.

The Answer have sprung up quite well. My ex downloaded their album last year and we found it to be great for a first album. Then heard nothing and suddnely people are hearing about them.
