So I am Currently Playing Tales Of Vesperia and am really enjoying it so far and thought I would make a thread on the Tales games.

So what are your top 3 Tales Games ever and why?

I haven't played 3 yet, I've only played Tales of Symphonia and have started ToV but would love to hear what you have to say about the other games. Give me an idea on which ones to play after this and Abyss <3

kgo! :jess:

1. Tales of Symphonia - Likeable and memorable characters, good story, the EX system was very nice, I really enjoyed trying to find different combinations with them as well as the awesome Personal EX Skills as well. Downsides include the lack of free run despite AI being able to do it and Overlimits showing up at random times

2. Tales of Vesperia - An awesome cast, (especially Yuri, Repede, and Raven) a nice new Overlimit system, the story is good as well. The only major downside I have to this game is that some of the main gameplay features that were present in the older Tales of games you have to unlock by making items. An interesting twist on the final boss.

3. Tales of the Abyss - Another game with a likeable cast. (Jade kicks butt) I like Luke. Though he may be an ass, I really liked him like that. I wish he would have stayed that way the whole game personally. A better skill system than ToV, and FoFs while slightly random made battles more interesting. Overlimits can be used at anytime now which is great and Free Run skills. <3 Downsides include the story starting off slow and the fact that the 2nd battle music, The Edge of a Decision, stops playing during the end of part 2 until the end of the game. I really enjoyed that theme...

HM go out to Tales of Eternia and Tales of Phantasia as well though.

1. Tales of Legendia: That awesome Jazz bgm.
2. Tales of Innocence: I liked the Far Eastern mythology vibe going on.
3. Tales of Phantasia: The classics are always the best.

I do not really have a top three so.. Ill just list ones I really loved. First Tales of Vesperia was absolutely amazing. I love this entry in the Tales series so much. It was a 360 exclusive. The main Theme "Ring A Bell" is just so beautiful. I really love that song and listen to it constantly. I really liked Judith. She was a cool character to play as. Her fighting style is mixed with kicks and her staff so that was awesome. Loved her story as well. Tales of Vesperia is definitely one of my favorites. Yuri was a great lead character and for once the main character is a grown man and not some teenage kid. Raven was without a doubt interesting and so were all the other characters.

Tales of the Abyss which I played really long ago. I did multiple playthroughs and yes I beat Unknown mode.. because I loved the game. Tear and Natalia were some of my favorites in this one. I really also found Sync the Tempest to be my favorite God General as well. The Six god generals all have interesting stories and that is what interested me mostly. Jade was one of the characters I really enjoyed as well. Not just to play as, but his story mostly. Oh and Tear's seven fonic Hymns are absolutely beautiful. Call me crazy, but I actually sing them every once in a while. There is so much beautiful music as well. Meaning of birth is one of the songs from the OST I absolutely loved. Even the lyrical version in the anime.

Tales of Symphonia is probably the first one I played in the Tales series. This one is so good. If someone did not play it yet.. I absolutely feel bad for them... but EU never got most of the Tales games so then again... that sucks. In Symphonia I really enjoyed Colette. Even if she was such a Klutz and always clumsy at first. You eventually fin out why she is like that. Sheena is probably my 2nd favorite. She is the summoner of the group and is a beautiful assassin. It is so epic when you meet her because you have to fight her like twice before you get her. Mithos and Martel have such a great storyline and that is most of Tales of Symphonia. The Cruxis Angels etc.

I have much more favorites. I wouldnt say these are my top three as I love most of them equally.

Well seeing how Ive only played three tales games (wait I forgot radiant mythology still counts -_-)

Tales of The Abyss Is my favorite one mainly because the hardest boss in the game Nebilim goes in my book for the heardest boss that took me the longest to defeat. Heres the thing, I could actually beat in under 2 minutes without breaking a sweat, but I was trying to get the tactical leader title for Luke which is a costume title and for the japanese players they just gotta win, but for us americans we have to beat he ron very hard or unknown and thats why it took me FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to win, I got my brother to help and control one of my partner members still died ALOT!!! So I finally won simply because i died so much I remembered exactly what she was gonna do before she even hit me, I could tell who she was aiming for even they where half way across the screen, I knew all her chants and grunts before a spell or an attack, so i know exactly what spell to look out for. The thing is i had to use the switch characters during battle method, so whenever she cast a spell on somebdoy i switch and magic guard or just side step out the way, and since luke and guy where my attackers i noticed whenever (im luke) i go for combos guy would frequently join me and we tag team her so while im doing a combo i would switch while guy is still doing his and keep adding moves to it and luke would start up again, I switch and repeat and we got alot of hits off. Thanks to that i finally beat her, just avoiding her overlimits was the hard part xD But tales of the abyss is one of the ebst games ive ever played.

Tales of Legendia is the first game Ive played and it was so good and I enjoyed how the game has skits and stuff really got me into the series ^ ^

Tales of Vesperia was my first game on 360 and was well worth it

In order of favoritism, as I've only gotten into three but played about 4 or 5 :gasp:

Tales of the Abyss: Haven't beaten it yet, but already I love the OST, characters, and story much more than Symphonia. Luke is a great protagonist, and even though he's terribly rude in the beginning, when he started to change I literally almost got teary eyed when he referred to Mieu by name instead of "Thing". I love Mieu. I don't care how high pitched his voice is, he's just too damn cute. I guess I've got a soft spot for cute things like Tear :gasp: I like Tear as well. Draco Malfoy must play this. Second mention for this game today

Tales of Symphonia: I beat this after owning it for two years a few weeks back. I really liked the game, and it was the first I completed and got me into the battle system. Also gave me my favorite combo of moves (tempest + variations and tiger blade + variations). I liked Lloyd as a main character, but I do have to say some of the voice acting just didn't fit the game. Sheena was a good character, but oh my God her voice killed it so bad. She was Asian and sounded whiter than I do. Other than that, the game was good. Reminded me of Final Fantasy X at the beginning with the whole pilgrimage type of thing, and how Collette had to make a sacrifice at the end of it. Great plot twists, and when the story came together it was quite good.

Tales of Innocence: Thank God for English translation patches. I absolutely love the story and idea of this game. The whole avatar thing just appeals to me. It makes me think a lot about it, wondering how Asura himself would feel to be in Luca's wimpy place. The characters are loveable, and unlike Emil, Luca is the good sort of weakling that progressively gets stronger. Iria's jealousy is quite funny as well. Only problem I have is the boss difficulty spiked up later on and I had some real troubles beating two of them. I did almost no damage and I used so many life bottles and jels. Stopped playing to play Tales of the Abyss and because I got bored of level grinding to hopefully be ready for the next bosses.

Hoping to play Vesperia soon, get Tales of Graces F when I get a PS3, and hope that Tales of Xillia gets an English localization in the future. It looks quite great so far. I may play the GBA port of Tales of Phantasia. I know I started it a while back and have gotten past one or two towns, but it's been a while. And I might import Tales of Eternia for the PSP because Al has said it is great.

I've only played Tales of Eternia and Tales of Symphonia, but both are great so far! The latter is on my list of games I should really complete quite soon...

I'd love to get Vesperia for the 360! It looks excellent, but it's so expensive. >_<
