Anime Toonami Returned as a April Fools Joke

Yup, Toonami did return for one night as a April Fools joke from Adult Swim the promo can be found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc9A5UeW1mg

In their playlist they chose classic shows to play from Dragon Ball Z,Gundam Wing,Tenchi Muyo to other favorites that people grew up with.

Even if it was a one night thing it brought back alot of fond memories for me.

And now I'll be slightly bummed that its gone again ToT

i love gundam wing.. i wish they would bring back toonami. but i was reading up on stuff and learned why adult swim got away form it. it comes down to them getting the rights to play episodes and it was getting more and more expensive to do so. they saw it cheaper to just syndicate whats already here and cash in on that (i.e. family guy, american dad, king of the hill) rather than take a risk at bring over an unknown show to risk ratings.. it sucks.. i wish toonami would become a regular thing again.

Ohoho. So this is why they did it. I spoke with my younger brother today and he told me they returned many of these shows to Adult Swim. I was amazed but knew I wouldn't watch them again.

Ahh the fondness of the good old times. Gundam Wing and Tenchi especially, were some of my favorites. Managed to get Gundam Wing all on dvd now actually so I can watch it anytime I want now. Only if I could do the same for some of the Tenchi series.

i heard about it also from a friend, which is where i then read about it... i tried to hulu it.. but i got nothing but due to toonami not being around i found crunchyroll.com. its the next best thingin my opinion. all sorts of anime that was on or should have been on toonami.

I got lucky and recorded the whole line up last night, I'll probably rewatch it this week, but I can understand their reasoning for dropping it but they'd be making more money selling the DVD's/Gunplas((Gundam Models))/etc. like they are with their adult swim shop now >.>;

but meh least I got to see Tom and that big ol ship one more time~ XD

Apparently Cartoon Network/Adult Swim is asking if people would be interested in Toonami coming back.

I think it would be good for the anime industry if they did, but only if they put it on at a decent time and tried to get new viewers into anime. Most people who already like anime either buy the dvds, download it, or stream the simulcasts from places such as Crunchyroll.
