Hey. I looked at the FFXIII trailers and possible spoilers (I'm a spoiler-wh*re). Now, the graphics looked great, but I didn't really get the STORY (until I looked it up on Wikipedia).
There were too many emotions, so I didn't really feel attached to the story itself.
What do you think?

I would have thought that additional emotion in the story would be a good thing...surely it would stop it from being bland and just generally lifeless? After all, if the emotion isn't conveyed, what is the point of having a story or voice acting at all? Although from the sound of FFXIII's english voice cast, that might not be such a bad idea...
I'd say its a bit too early to be getting attached to the game anyway...I think you need to play it from the beginning and immerse yourself in the scenario before you can get a proper feel for it. Trailers don't tell you much, other than what the graphics, battle system and characters are going to look like. Just first impressions. Give it time~

Yes, but I don't think you understood what I meant.
I mean that there's TOO MUCH of emtions, and TOO LITTLE of the story.

Well I think that when you play through the game and see the scenes i context it will be much different of an experience for you. I think it will most likely fit together better and the story be more complete then watching a few scenes and reading a plot summary. The game could suck though. That is a real possibility but I hope you enjoy it.

Too little of a story? I think not.

From what I've seen, there's a lot of background on the characters, what happens to them, and even lots about the fal'cie and Cocoon, even much about Gran Pulse. I really don't understand what you're trying to get across but what I've seen so far has given me reason to believe that there's lots of story in this game.

You haven't seen the whole picture of the story yet. Let SE release the game first, then go through the story as you're playing through. Once you see what is happening and the contexts of the situation as Amarant has said- maybe the reason why the characters act like they do in terms of emotion will make sense. I honestly disagree with your point that there is too little story. You can't make a rational judgement of that until you have seen it all. I am sure that there will be a large, coherent story.

Indeed. You havent played the game yet. Youre basing you judgements on images and info. You may change your mind once youve played the game.

No, I don't understand that, because (to me, at least) the emotions going on are part of the story; at least, they show how the characters react to the events. If there wasn't any story, there wouldn't be any emotion. So if there is a lot of emotion, there is a lot going on. Thats just my perspective anyway.

I'm not quite sure I understand. How can you compare emotion, a feeling, with storyline? The emotions of the characters and their mental growth is what makes up the storyline, isn't it?

In fairness, I don't see how the game is too emotional. The bits that were shown on the trailer were only snippets from a few cutscenes so you won't get the whole picture based on that, the Hope-Snow scene for example, when you read the story into that it's only natural the way they act. As for the story, it's natural to not "get it" when you haven't played the game :p

Yeah, like everyone else said, there can't any emotions if there isn't that much of a plot. There has to be something to make the characters have those sort of emotions. If there isn't that much of a plot(Which there probably is), then I'm going to be pissed off.

But from the trailers, the storyline looks pretty damn long, and the emotions would just make the game better, because you can see everyone's opinions on what would currently be going on throughout the game.

Well, I think in a way, it's a good thing. I dunno 'bout you but I much rather have the characters be a lil too emotional then have
the characters not show their emotions and have sticks up their arse all the
damn time an' sound/act robotish. I mean, everyone has feelings and sometimes
would like to voice their feelin's and whatnot I mean it's gotta be realistic.
It's hard to tell, I mean you could be correct buuuutt, We won't know fer sure
till it come out :monster: An' as far as the whole trailers an' how you didn't
get the story... I mean yer not suppose ta. It's just suppose ta get you
intrested so that you spend yer hard earned cash on the game XD.
