Once again we're treated with a bullshit all CGi trailer that tells us jack shit.
Well, for what it's worth, enjoy.

Fucking ninja'd. :hmph:

Anyway, although the trailer tells us JACK FUCKING SHIT, I do love the voice on Laura. Seriously, DAT VOICE was amazing. :ryan:

Plus, I like water... a lot... so I enjoyed the trailer visually. I just wish it actually told us what the fuck was going on. -__-

Is this a game or a movie? :wacky:
but glad to see that I have no idea whats going on, or what the story is going be about, or if I well even bother getting it... Something tells me not to get it, because it well be a game with pretty graphics *cough Final Fantasy XIII cough*

And from the ending "A survivor is born" I'm guessing this game is suppose to take place before the first one.

If you guys payed attention to SE news long ago. Lara gets shipwrecked on an island. That is what was going on. :hmph:!. Anyway, I enjoyed the trailer. It was very well done visually. Younger Lara looks great and her voice is quite good. Now When she gets shipwrecked, she will need to survive on food and other things. It is basically survival horror in my opinion. This is pretty bad for Lara. May be the bloodiest Tomb Raider ever.

We can all see that Lara is shipwrecked Adri, but what they mean is, that we don't know anything else plotwise - where Lara was heading to and what she was after when she sought out an "adventure".

It's not really survival horror because there's no actual psychological horror involved, it's just survival. Like Fallout New Vegas's Hardcore mode or the Lost in Blue games integrated with the conventional tomb raiding of the earlier games I'll imagine. To be honest, I'm not a fan of super-realistic things in games, especially survivals where you have to make sure you're not starving to death for example. Surviving is not actually that fun to me.

This, really.

We all knew ages ago that she got shipwrecked. Now we see it happening. But I want to know where she was going? Who was that dude? What's on the island? We just see her bandage herself up and that's about it. Nothing on the island to be worried about thus far. Nothing horror about it... Unless you hate water. :gasp:

Or islands.

Or bandages.

Or smexy women with hot English accents.

But that last one is impossible. :mokken:

Well, okay she had a map and all. Maybe we do not know how she plotted her adventure. I think this is more or less just a visual on what they hinted previously. "A survivor is born" So they were just making that phrase into some sort of visual. No gameplay was shown, pretty disappointing. I can see why though. Well the reason I said survival horror here is because they previously hinted at Lara being stabbed violently, boulders crushing her etc.
Now that may be just survival.. yes but just remember that this is supposed to be horrifying. Lara will have to survive on a horrifying island. I think that is how I basically got survival horror out of it. Basically she will have to survive on a horrible island, most likely looking for something as usual. It clearly shows she is in pain towards the end of it. We just have to wait and see. It could be just survival but then again there are some hints that it is horror. Horror is not necessarily just ghosts, zombies etc. Just compare the other TR games to this little introduction. I certainly think this one has the upper hand in being the most "scary". She is going to face terrible fears and we will just have to wait and see.

I doubt they're going to give anything away when E3 is right around the corner. I mean... that's what E3 is for.

It looks pretty interesting. I never really played the Tomb Raider games when I was younger because I was stupid and couldn't figure anything out, :-)rage:) so buying this game is on the cards. No guarantees that I'll do any better though. :sad3:

We had an old one too when I was younger, but you got attacked by tigers and I was too scared to move on =[

Surely the entire point of the trailer is to get people excited without giving anything away, to get a buzz going before E3 etc. It looked pretty cool and young Lara is looking well, though I was disappointed at her voice

I'll give you that, because you certainly have a point there. I suppose survival horrors are largely based on the scenario that your character is very vulnerable and alone in a deserted environment where enemies can hide in the surroundings and attack you without warning and where the emphasis on combat is scaled back in favour of the occasional puzzle-solving. The fact is, the survival horror genre has undergone extensive blending with action games lately so the one major defining characteristic of them intact is the idea of enemies based on horror fictions such as ghosts and bloody murderers. A quick Wikipedia scan says that this game will have a heavy emphasis on combat as well, which gives me the impression that this could be more of an action-adventure/survival mix.

If Tomb Raider does decide to have Lara be attacked by creatures of contemporary horror, then I suppose we could call it a survival horror/action-adventure hybrid. But if it's just a pack of hungry wolves and other feral predators for much of the game, then it's more on the lines of survivor, with the emphasis on combat making it an action game at the same time. It depends on what your definition of survival horror is, but for me so far, this game sits closer to the side of survival/adventure than actual designated survival horror.

I take it you didn't read the Game Informer preview for Tomb Raider, then?

Correct.
Because it talks all about the psychological horror she will have to endure.
Does it go into anymore detail? I don't doubt that Lara will be enduring psychological horror as well as immense physical torture - as you would if you were a young, vulnerable woman shipwrecked on a deserted island, presumably as an only survivor so far with a daunting task of surviving to do, I've just read nothing yet to indicate that outside of the survival/action-adventure nature of the game that the player will be faced with psychological horror akin to something you may find in games that are designated as being survival horrors such as Silent Hill. Of course, as I haven't read Game Informer's preview, I could be missing something important of note.

It's not exactly "survival horror" like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, but Lara will be kidnapped and chained/tortured against her will. And she will have to use that pickaxe you see in the trailer to stab and kill people.

That's a very traumatic experience, especially for how young she is in this game.

Ohmygosh! Finally! :x3:

This game looks absolutely amazing. The graphics, they are so godly...And Lora! Oh snap, so awesome. I will sell my kidney for the game, if I have to. Must play. And thank goodness she doesn't...ug, look like Angelia. Thank goodness! I can't wait! I can't wait!

Does anyone know how to watch E3 online? I don't think I'll be able to watch on TV... :(
