Tidus: Too loud

I loved Tidus myself and i liked him being loud. He was an interesting character. Wouldnt you be whiny if your dad treated you like that? I can see his point of view and i felt bad for him. I know he doesnt have it as hard as alot of people do but it was pretty bad and
to see his dad finally thinking that hed never see him again at the end
made me cry ;)

Tidus annoyed me the whole game through... And the point people keep trying to make is 'he was like a normal person'... HELL. NO. HE. WASN'T.

You all bring up the point of 'he couldn't lift the sword at the beginning'. Think... Tidus was like a freaking star athlete (supposedly). He should have been able to pick it up with a fair amount of ease if he can lift anything above 30 pounds...

Also, yeah... he couldn't pick it up for less than one damn second, and boom, battle mode, he picks it up like it's nothing... And in the cinematics, he'd be a whiny little b****, the next, he'd be everybody's gay cheerleader...

If anything he's a sucky, bipolar main character who's a jock with a cheerleader complex, who fell in love with any girl with legs somewhat visible... The only time I was ever happy with Tidus was at the very end of the game... And the only reason I even finished the game was Auron and Yuna.

Edit: Oh... and if I were stuck in a future like that, I wouldn't be wanting to go back home any-fricking-ways... Think about it... Even if he went back to right when he disappeared, Zanarkand would just be in ruins. What good is a home like that? I mean, see him wanting to go back home, where his fans are just slightly less annoying than he is, but, they're all freaking dead.

First of all, the "he was like a normal person" arguement is way old and a character can be like a normal person with out acting like Tidus. Not to metion that we are playing video games after all.

Despite that, I liked Tidus but I think he got screwed when it came to choosing an American VA for him.

Half of his lines are delivered horribly. The laugh scene was horrible and often he said things way too fast. (Remember I think it was Bevelle when they kill Seymore, Tidus goes "Itsnotourfault!Seymoreattackedusfirst!"

The voice just sounded too old and the actor just couldn't act well.

I felt the same way about Yuna's voice actor but not to the same degree. She made Yuna sound like she was going to pass out everytime she talked.

Tidus was okay character. Only thing I disgusted in him was his way to whine about everything which didn´t go to the way he wanted. If something didn´t go as he want it to go he couldn´t accept that and that gave me impression he is spoiled brat.

I didn't think he was hyper, really... But I didn't think he was a great main character.... Yeah, I think maybe I prefer the loner type main characters...

I don't think he was loud. He was just annoying in other ways. The wankese was just so painfully irrelevant and unneeded sometimes; it was hardly ever very poignant.

I don't think he was loud, but I do think he talked way too much, and sometimes he didn't know when to keep his mouth shut. I liked him, but I was also just waiting for someone to tell him to shut up.

I personally don't like Tidus, I got fed up of him bitch and whine throughout the friggin game like a loser. Also I don't like his VA either, its horrible imo.

Also keeping in mind FFX was the first ever Final Fantasy game to have voice overs, so considering how much talking was going on in the game, of course it's not going to be perfect.

I don't recall Tidus bitching and whining throughout the whole entire game and I don't see how he is a loser either, considering what happened in the end. I liked that Tidus wasn't some powerfully strong, perfect hero with absolutely no imperfections. Tidus was real and human. He expressed emotion. If he was happy he'd laugh or be cheerful, if he was angry he'd yell, if he was sad he'd cry. He was just a normal human being like any of the rest of us. Damn, now I wanna go replay FFX. xD Baks your post is just...impertinent and irrelevant.

Tidus wasn´t loser but whiny bitch he was. "I want to go home, Spira sucks" and he didn´have any respect for Spiras culture. He was constantly breaking rules because he didn´t like those rules.

He also think he is king of the world. Like on ship before Kilika he harasses unknown man who is at the binoculars. He just crabbed binoculars and because he was so annoying impatient brat.

I don't ever recall him saying Spira sucked either, but you just need to stop and think about this for just a moment. If YOU one day were just tossed into this other world, ripped from your own own, stuck with all of these people you don't even know. Wouldn't you want to go home as well? He thought those things to himself but he didn't just outright say "I WANNA GO HOME!" like some whiny little kid. All of that was in the narrative part of the game. Also, it was a good thing he broke the rules that he did because he was determined to help. Tidus has a good heart. If he felt something was wrong, he did what he could to stop it. Plus he was not a native of Spira. He didn't know any of the laws and such. You can't pin that one on him.

He also think he is king of the world. Like on ship before Kilika he harasses unknown man who is at the binoculars. He just crabbed binoculars and because he was so annoying impatient brat.
Tidus thought he was the king of the world? Since when? He knew who that unknown man was. It was one of the crusaders (can't recall which one at the moment) otherwise he wouldn't have just walked up to a complete stranger and took the binoculars. Plus, that was meant as a moment of comedy in the game. He was not an impatient brat either. He was just very determined to help save Yuna and before that, he was confused and scared and wanted to go home. You need to stop, think and put yourself in Tidus's shoes. If something like that were to happen to you, just how in the hell do you think you'd react. Knowing any normal human they'd probably be scared out of their mind and cry a whole lot, curl up in a little ball and cry for their mommy, daddy and friends. Tidus didn't do that. He pressed forward.

If I may, I think Tidus' personality actually helped move the story forward. One of the main themes of FFX is not losing hope even in the most dire of situations. Tidus struck me as outspoken in contrast to Yuna, who was shy and reserved. Tidus was the one who pushed everyone to find another way to beat Sin without the Final Aeon to save Spira and, of course, so Yuna wouldn't need to sacrifice herself. Whoever said Tidus' thought Spira sucked needs to play the game again. At first he was apprehensive because, like Lady Aerith mentioned, it was entirely new to him. But the game gave me the impression that he grew fond of it through the friendships he forged with the others.
As for the VA, some of it was awful (laughing scene in Luca that everybody mentions) but some of it was good (when he narrates the story). In short, I actually think Tidus is a good character.

When I played this game, I really paid attention to Tidus' dialogue and came to the conclusion that it was the V/O line delivery that sucked. I honestly have some V/O experience and I could've done a way better job. The wrong words were being inflected like the actor was rushing to deliver his lines and leave. But when I read the subtitles and muted the audio, it worked.

True Tidus was a crybaby but I mean he was sent into a different world. His emotion was raw especially after the destruction of Home.

I liked Tidus, sometimes his voice did get annoying though, it really did sound like the VA was rushing some of the lines, but I did like Tidus' personality, despite the whole Oedipus complex thing (but I guess it did fuel the story). I liked his optimism, it kinda made the story more enjoyable for me, I also really enjoyed his narration, it was definitely one of the things that drew me to the story.

TIDUS SUCKS GET RID OF HIM
no one likes him kill him and kill him good
i hate him damn
his as bad as maria from shadow i hate
him god damn him

:| i think killing him is a bit harsh lol. i didnt like the way he was a bit selfish n stuff. but he was a genuinlly nice guy i thought. and really brought yuna of of herself and lightened the mood. i mean imagine if it was just yuna, wakka, lulu, kimahri and auron. it would be pure like ahhhhh!

Meh. Tidus was quite a character. He was loud and obnoxious for the most part. By the middle I guess I had gotten use to him and didn't realize it was much. *shrugs*

That laughing scene with Yuna put me over the edge though. -___-;;

As a character, I found Tidus to be more-so realistic than any previous hero. If I was some sports star that suddenly got spirited away to another time and place where everyone fought 'Sin,' I'd be pretty freaked out, too!

His reactions were realistic at times. But his downfall?

His voice actor.

Tidus just had the most irritating voice, ever, and it made him really hard to deal with as a character. The Japanese voice actor had such a more pleasant voice.

I think if Tidus had a better voice actor, the dislike for him wouldn't have been so high.

You have a point, there. If I was sucked up by sin into an alternate world that wasn't familiar then, I would be freaked out and stuff too. So, yeah. Sometimes, I still say he can be abit over dramatic. >_<;;
