Played it a bit and thought it was okay. Demo definitely too short though. I like the throwback to Dresspheres but thought a lot of the costumes were lame. Why would you have fabulous hair like that and wear a fking hat? That's a rhetorical question, don't answer it.

But I guess the upside to living in a house full of dudes that love Final Fantasy is that I won't have to buy this game even if I end up liking it and will get all of the pre-order stuff :monster:

i kinda like it so far, but like i said the demo was very brief. it's literally less than 10 minutes long. :|

I am downloading it right now, 40%. Will be back to let ya know what I think!

I haven't been on the board in a while, I am not much of a frequenter to message boards in general anyway, but I came on to see what people were saying about it while I waited for the download. Guess, it is still too early.

Edit:
Okay I checked it out. It is kinda short, but I didn't expect much from a demo that is before the release date.

I get what you mean about the hats lol. I guess that is the choice to keep some connection to traditional FF characteristics, like the hat for Red Mage and Black Mage. I personally like when they keep similarities like that so it doesn't bother me if it looks a little goofy. The hat on the Dark Muse outfit definitely looks bad though.

I liked it, but I am also a fan of the XIII series, so I wasn't expecting to find disappointment. I am even more excited for my special edition pre order from SE!

Did you happen to get a notification about unlocking the Siegfried outfit? I read an article that says if you submit your battle score from the final battle against Zaltys, you'll unlock the Siegfried outfit when the game arrives, Xbox or PS3. I submitted my score and didn't get any notification of unlocking anything. Anyone know what's up with the outfit? Already stinks I am on Xbox 360 and don't get the free Utsusemi Garb DLC.

Also, I noticed when I played through a second time it had me choose a new nickname, although it says you can't change it after you register it.

Easily amused and entertained writes...

I loved it! I've no idea if the opening video will be the fight between the two characters, but it's the best looking of the three XIII games.
Much easier system than the Paradigms. Even more "user friendly" than XIII-2.

So predictably, colour me in excited for February! :king.midas:

Just tried out the demo. I hate to say it, but it's got me kinda intrigued. xD; It was very short, but I think it gave us a good enough glimpse at the storyline and now I have a better idea on how the battle system works.

It's actually kinda fun switching between different jobs and spamming attacks/abilities in a Kingdom Hearts fashion. I suspect that you can earn new abilities for each job, too? Or at least level them, which gives the player something to work towards.

I may preorder this, but I won't be able to play it much on release week since I'll be away. :sad3:

The whole battle system reminds me of X-2. like... 99% of it. Only you choose from 3 costumes in battle instead of how ever many the garnet grid gave you.

Overall, I am very... interested by it to say the least. Now if Square would of just said they were doing this with all those costumes, then maybe they wouldn't of had so much of a backlash at the start of it. :mokken:

Really though... I don't know about the Cloud costume yet... still seems to far out there... wonder how the other FF costumes will play out... and did anyone try posting the pic from the outer world? Mine didn't seem to work...

I love the demo, the cutscene at the beginning of the demo is great, it definiatly keeps me intrigued as to how the game will be. The combat system is way different then what i thought itd be, and having the atb gauge replenish as time goes on and on different schematic is so cool. and the fact that you can hold down the button of the move you wanna use either rapid fires it, or charges for a bigger stronger attack.

overall im very excited about everything for the game & how the plot and story will be, also i believe i will try & collect all the outfits and all the accessories :D.

In the same fashion of my play through the XIII-2 demo, I'm looking forward to it actually explaining what's going on. I quit after the game kept throwing the same boss at me every five seconds and I couldn't even walk out of a room without it, and the battle system still has me confused a little bit.

I found the demo too short, the graphics have taken a knock and its obvious in the town environments in the end video. But all that doesnt bother me one bit so thats fine. Gameplay wise easily my fav battle system of the trilogy, the constant switching and spamming the damage was cool in my opinion so yer I am looking forward to picking it up :)

It's better than I thought it would be; although a far bit shorter.
The gameplay I really liked, although I agree with the above poster about the graphics and things.

I have pre-ordered the game and it should be here Friday... fingers crossed I enjoy it!

Didn't download it and don't plan on buying it. Happy it's out though since we can finally move on to XV. I have a lot of hope for this game.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm 15 again and heading off on another adventure with my best friends. Punch that lever, Cid!
