Right, this is my first post ever. I am a huge fan of the FF games i've played (Vii to Xiii) and as you can guess i, like many out there, am encaptured by the twisting and turning storylines within them.

Well, FFVii has incredible potential even 14 years after the fact, i personally think it needs re-doing on a new format (xbox/ps3) maybe in the style of the advent children movie, very polished, very defined- it would blow us all away.

But i'm not here to talk about FFVii. i'm not here to talk about how i beat numerous blasted Long Gui's on FFXiii to farm Trapezehedron.. I am here to offer my views on one of the most exciting storylines i've ever known and i've read alot of books.
Child soldiers, sent on misssions all over the world, under contract to follow orders and nothing more. That's all Squall is, a 17 year old boy, fresh out of graduation and immediately sent to Timber to aid a Rebel faction. Unbeknowest to him, his unrequited love Rinoa is a part of this faction.

You've played the game, you're thinkin', "yeah Steve we know the story".. well.. imagine this story but graphically polished and the audio updated. The charaters always looked more human (in game) so i really do think it would make a great manga style series.

It would also give you a better insight into the psyche of Squall, his relationship with the bubbly Rinoa AND also give the opportunity for secondary characters to shine. The loud and rauchious Zell would be a highlight EVERY episode. The grounding and humble influence of Quistis would keep the show classy, she'd make a great narrator!!

Finally my favourite chemistrys (other than Squall and Rinoa of course), Selphie and Irvine (pure comic relief). Not forgetting that nasty piece of work Seifer and his cronies Rajin and Fujin. Square could encorporate moments in the series that wern't even in the game!!

I'd love to see it, simple as that, i don't know about anyone else out there but yeah.. as Squall would say... ... ... Whatever...

I like the story of FFVIII too. It would have been a dream came true if it was officially made into any form of media, like anime, manga, game remake, etc. Your descriptions on it only make me want it more

But we have to face the truth. Square is leaving FFVIII (and pretty much every game except VII and probably the fabula nova crystallis) alone. They apparently don't listen to us fans :(

anyways, pessimism aside, It could be a 50+ episodes anime series. For soundtrack, I wish they let Nobuo re-compose every single FFVIII track to make them sound anime-ish and add more.

Since I am bored, I will do a possible episode 1 prologue (SPOILER ALERT):

It was a rainy day. Screen focuses on a lighthouse near the coasts. Then we are zoomed in to a torn down, old orphanage. A man in his 50s looks frightened as he watches his wife dressed in plain black clothing emanating a scary dark aura.

"Edea! What's happening? Don't tell me... NO! Your sorceress powers...!"

She looks like she was possessed. She screamed eerily and soon enough, her eyes turn unfocused. Her black dress transformed slowly and magical dark accessories slowly and mysteriously cover her face and back. She is no longer the person she was. She smiled cruelly and struck the man with a wave of magic and then disappeared into the darkness. The man helplessly looked in fear and horror while clenching his magically wounded arm.

Screen turns black. Anime opening plays, then...

then we see the fight between seifer and squall as seen in the original. Then Seifer struck Squall with his gunblade. Then Squall did the same. Then both fell unconscious. Then Squall woke up in the infirmary. The rest is self-explanatory.

The prologue I made, I thought is an excellent beginning for the anime, if there ever was one. It depicts Edea when she was finally being fully possessed by Ultimecia.

Probably episode 1 can end when Ifrit popped up from his lair. The part with Selphie can be expanded too.

l like this idea:hmmm:.......but lm more disturbed by the fact you referred to yourself in the 3rd person8(, You can just imagine the fracturing of the stories and what would be good climax points.

Anime/manga is an excellent option for depicting these characters:D

Love FFVIII, love anime - the prospect of an anime version of FFVIII - mouthwatering.

As mentioned above though, as much as we might want it, never going to happen. If it ain't VII, then Square don't really wanna know.

any final fantasy game into an anime would be epic... very epic :) VIII would be an good game to make into an anime........ cuz it has the right characters

Sadly, the one time they did do anime Final Fantasy it wasn't based on any of the games, and was a bit rubbish! :D

and don't forget last order :) the short anime on some events happening in crisis core.

FF unlimited was not a decent FF product, but it can be considered a good anime IMO.

For fantasy-based anime, I prefer El-Hazard to be honest. I just couldn't really get into FFU at all.

Didn't help that when I watched it, it hadn't been long since I'd watched Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop, which I consider to be outstanding anime. :D

What do you mean by "one"?

They've made a few anime FF OAV's.

I know there's Legend of the Cyrstals (set in the FFV world)
FF Unlimited
There's also Last Order which is an VII spin off.

There's probably more.

I hate FFVII. :rage: Crisis Core was better.

Now with that slightly off topic to your post out of the way, I would love to see FFVIII turned into an Anime. It doesn't get nearly enough attention, and it deserves so much. And it's not like it sold too poorly, or anything.

The story and the characters would work pretty well, and battles could be epic with the whole GF thing. It'd be pretty god damn neat if you ask me.

Which you did. :awesome:

I'd have to say no. I'm not really a fan of anime and I've not really liked the fact they often seem to sacrifice plot and depth for the sake of over the top action. I enjoyed FFVIII, but I'd prefer not to see another FF classic butchered for the sake of milking more cash for the company.

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no

So on and so forth.

FF8 wasn't particularly my favourite FF, but I still play it occasionally. And the thought of an Anime version of Squall makes me want to slit my wrists FOR him.

Seriously, it'd be like Edward Cullen's "I sparkle".
