So... this is a thread for users to list albums they have thought were absolute balls at first when listening to them, but got stuck in your head later and grew on you.

Personally... It's been that way with all the music ive listened to besides some nirvana :wacky:

But recently, the thought of creating this thread sparked with the release of Muse's newest album after I had listened to a few of the tracks.

I have to admit it really annoyed the living hell out of me at first, but I feel like it's starting to grow on me and not feel so bad. I've not really gotten into most of the album yet, but most of it's really gotten on my nerves at first because... Well, it's not muse's typical 'rock the fuck out' kind of album, for which they are renowned.

It's just an entirely different feel compared to the rest of their albums.

but still

exogenesis makes my ears hurt

i will never withdraw that statement :monster:

I'm usually the same, when I first listen to an album I'm generally underwhelmed or I don't like it much, In utero is probably the best example of this, and unlike other albums it doesn't really have any singles from it released, especially contrasted to Nevermind.

Frost and Fire by Cirith Ungol. I had heard so much about how this band was absolutely fantastic, but the second Tim Baker's vocals kicked in, I was massively underwhelmed. Needless to say, Tim Baker has a very distinctive voice, and at first I actually thought that he was taking the piss. The music was great though, so eventually I grew to love the vocals as well.

Here's the opening track for anyone who's interested:

Rofl Derek, I saw the thread title and your name and though, little shit...:wacky:

Still hungry for some onions?

U2's album had this effect on me, nothing stood out, like at all, it all just seemed really mediocre - it has admitedly grown on me, well most of it, some of the tracks still stink, but yeah, when I first whapped it in my C.D player I thought...Ive got to go see these live in afew months and I paid 60 quid for the ticket...I wasnt best pleased. But meh, most of it grew on me, luckily :gonk:

Yeah I'm usually that way too. Hence why when I get a new album I listen to it over and over when I walk to and from Uni for about a week. That way I will know by the end of the week whether I like it or not. :monster:

Anyway, two albums which immediately spring to mind are:

Street Sweeper Social Club and Placebo (both self-titled). As well as pretty much every Muse song (with the exception of Starlight and Hysteria)

The most recent M83 album last year was one I found very disappointing at first, but I gradually warmed to it and though I still prefer earlier albums of theirs I do quite enjoy it now. The whole 80s nostalgia feel to it actually works after a while.
