I'l admit to only checking the first page for duplicate threads so my bad if ive made one :wacky:

Anyway, just playing Mario 3, happy as a pig in shit, get to world 3 and Im like...underwater levels :hmph:

Every game I have ever played I have hated anything to do with having to be underwater. Sonic is probably the worst for it. I die a little inside everytime I have to do the Labrynth Zones. I always die. Everytime without fail. Absolutely piss me the chuff off. They are just too slow, and summat always goes tits up. I feel like Im getting my arse kicked in slow motion

And staying on the topic of Sonic, the bastard need for the air bubbles. I find my self screaming at the screen, especially when im on top of an airbuble and the timer is going. To this day it still winds me the fuck up

less underwater levels please, they make me angry

edit* Ive just given myself wankers cramp mashing the jump button because i missed my little platform thing TWICE and had to bounce all the way through the water to the end of the level, not amused. Fucking hate these levels with a passion :hmph:

This. Water levels in Sonic games are awful, especially Labyrinth Zone in Sonic 1. At least they had the decency to make water levels in later Sonic games with less underwater action, like Aquatic Ruins and Hyrdo-something Zone in Sonic 3.

But with that said, I actually love water levels in other games, including Mario 3. :lew: The music is generally awesome, with a relaxing feel. I remember the Water Temple from Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, which was a pain, but it was relaxing too.

I tend to hate levels where there is an elemental issue (except water). Places like deserts, wind-based or icey (have fun with that coming up in Mario 3 :wacky:), tend to be places I don't like. Damn quick-sand, wind blowing me off cliffs and the sliding. They get old very fast. :hmph:

fuck a duck, I forgot about the icy levels... I can see me using a flute and just skippingm it all, though, Ive just turned the Wii off at world 4, Im not convinced it's saved.. I'l soon see the morn

I have hate for deserts as well, FF's are fuckers for them they just seem to go on and on and on abit more, BoFIII actually made me want to eat my control pad in frustration with the desert trek on that, and I think I just hated the desert in DQVIII for the sake of it. As far as deserts go, it's pretty tame, and it's optional

I can't remember if it was FFV or VI where I was stuck in a desert for ages, when I finally got to where I thought I was meant to be, I realised I wasn't meant to be there yet. Oh was I pissed :hmph:

Hillsbrad Foothills in World of Warcraft. Not only is the zone a prime location for ganking, it's also stuffed to the brim with some of the most annoying quests ever. 1 quest giver in Tarren Mill repeatedly sends you to the town of Hillsbrad to kill things and when you get back to him, he sends you back to Hillsbrad AGAIN to make you kill something you probably already ran into the first time around. And he does this to you at least 5 times. By Crom I hate that place

The Sewers in Deling City.....ugh.........I always learn encounter none before gong on there
to save the hassle, annoying.

Bamf you need to calm down love before you lose a controller in a fit of rage........I feel your annoyance though, anger towards Video games is pointless because anger is a movement towards action and IRL you can put it to good use, but towards a video game
..........not so much lol

Levels dont annoy me so much........its more some levels enhance the bad aspects of game, camera angles sloppy battle mechanics.......they just serve to make the experience similar to a long sustained kick in nuts.

Echoing the sentiments about Underwater levels. Fucking NIGHTMARE, all of them. Water Temple in OOT, Labyrinth/Chemical Plant/Aquatic Ruin Zone in Sonic games (so many tantrums came from these in particular) and anything in general that involves having an oxygen supply running out. Just swimming through the corridors in MGS2 with Otacon's sister in tow annoyed the hell out of me.

I hate forests, as well. Especially forests that are like labyrinths that require you to go in a certain direction to get through it. The Lost Woods is probably the most famous example, but that is a fairly simple one - Mimana: Iyar Chronicles has TWO such forests, and both require you to find goddamn switches, whilst being plagued by random encounters...lots of backtracking, all the areas look the same, and its very easy to get lost. There was one that involved manipulating seasons and directions in Riviera: The Promised Land I HATED, as well. Nothing good ever comes of a forest in a video game.

Well at least in Sonic's defense Sonic 2's case depending on which route you take you can avoid most of the water portions of the game and in Sonic 3 a bubble shield prevents drowning. I have to agree. Water levels are a pain. Either because of difficulty, controls are bad or just because it's a pain in the butt. I can't think of any exceptions right now where this is actually a fun water level.

I agree with water levels. I hate how instead of going foreward, backwards, left, or right, you now have up and down. And you move so slow while all the fish that want to kill you move really fast. Even worst when your character can't hold their breath forever.

I also hate desert levels. The monsters usually have poison and they seem a lot tougher than typical enemies.

Also, sky levels. You have to becareful not to fall to your death throughout the whole level D:

I've noticed that too, it's weird D= The one that always pops into my mind with that is Secret of Mana, where there are these scorpion things that pop their stingers out of the ground and poison you out of nowhere :gonk: It sucks.

As far as levels in general that I hate though, I really don't care as much about the biome it's in (desert, water, sky etc.), but what really bothers me is levels where the screen repeats :rage: This usually happens to me in deserts most often, but I remember it also happened in the king's tomb in FFVIII, where you go in one direction forever and it's the same room over and over and you get lost :banghead: Those are the places that drive me the most crazy, and especially when the enemies regenerate and you have to backtrack 50 screens to get back to the beginning and start over :jtc:

Hmm, not sure if we are talking specifically about Mario 3, so i'll say bit about mario aaaand....FF?
I agree about the underwater levels in mario, me and my brothers are really good at the game but I always get put to shame when it comes to those levels, something about how in order to actually move at a rate quicker than that of a snail, you have to jump a lot....pisses me off
As for Final Fantasy, (i've only played 1&2 really), I would have to say my least favorite are the rooms you enter, where as soon as you enter the door your placed in the middle of the room, and it is FILLED with monsters. not so much that they are difficult, just way too many random encounters in such a short time span raises my temper rapidly.
OH, and to me the worst game i can think of for underwater levels is Donkey Kong Country. I also hate the dark levels in that, like the one where you have to switch the lights on and off AND there are those clay golem things. (Favorite level in it would have to be the minecart one, LOVE THAT LEVEL!)

That one, I've just started FF1 and I've entered some cave to find a crown and with every step I take there are fucking monsters that can kill you easily (when you don't have a chance to hit or run away.)

I also hate boring levels where nothing really happens until the end of the level.
In devil may cry 3 and 4 there are some horrible levels at the beginning of both games (level 4, 5), you have to find a way to open the door by going through halls and push forward or place objects on its place. Fun....

And levels with boring music and that take long, like FFX with looking for the cactuars and FFXIII with only a long way to run.

Lava levels - they are stereotypically difficult and a pain.

Desert levels - too much plain scenery.

Sky levels - they are generally long and confusing.
