Did anyone ever play this game? I loved it. I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10. 2 points for replay value, 1 point for the character depth, 0.5 point for being humorous every now and then. 1 point for the inventing of the colliseum, and charcter plot twists 2 points. I like the battle system even if it was very similar to 2D. I could jump over stuff and use cheap moves. This is one of the best gamecube games I've ever played. Also a point for being able to change your look after a while. That was cool.

I am with you on that one. I found that this game had a wonderful story. The thing that seperates this from other games with great story lines, is that ToS was all about looking ahead in life, not letting anything hold you back, living life to the fullest. Awesome game, I'm currently playing Tales of the Abyss, and so far I do not like it as much, the main character Luke, is such a whiny bastard, I can't stand him.

I loved the Tales of Symphonia, though I havent beaten it yet, it is totally an awesome game, does it get really hard later on, or does it stay easy for the most part

I love this game, especially the battle system. I love watching them perform their special attacks and whatnot. The storyline is good too, definitely memorable. What I really found unique was their culinary skills. ^_^ I actually spent a lot of time trying to perfect them.

i <3 ToS - i havnt completed it yet but i think its amazing XD im up to the part where i have to gwt the final summon spirit - i havnt been able to play the game for ages but i definatly plan on completing it this year XD

My ex worked for a computer game shop and I had been waiting for months for it. So his manager, being the darling man he is, let me have it the day before its release as long as I went and paid for it 9am sharp! That was a great Thursday night ^^ One fo the best RPG Gamecube games Ive played, well next to Skies of Arcadia (sp) ^^

Good
- Battle system was an entertaining change to the usual turn based systems and really was the only reason why I continued playing the game to the end.

- Liked the graphical style with the cel shading although I do wish that the character models were more like the characters shown in the anime intro.

Bad
- The story and characters were so fucking predictable and after 40+ hours it really starts to grind you down, the plot twists were the usual "oh you're actually the bad guy" and stuff which I've seen way too many times in JRPGs.

- The voice overs weren't as bad as say FFX but they were still annoying especially Llyod and Colette who made me want to cry every time they opened there traps to say the most pointless things in their overacted ways.

I'd give it 7/10 just on the strength of the battle and level-up systems.

The battles were really fun and I used the rune bottle trick to get all my character 9999 hp at level 80 and owned Abyssion.

I just can't beat the cursed book.

I had fun with as far as I played. The battle system was a lot of fun, the story was ok, and the graphics were refreshing, but I just never finished it. I'm not even sure I made it off of disc 1; it's been a while. I might pick it up again when I'm home for spring break, who knows.

Holy 'effing crap. I just remembered: I didn't list game with my "Owned RPGs" in that other thread. That's sad considering that I regard Tales of Symphonia as the best RPG ever...

Great characters, story, graphics (love the cel-shaded graphics), battle system, customizable options, etc...

I've heard enough about this game (Along with blasted KH) from Parka to become sick by it. Suppose I'll have to check it out eventually.

This game is probably better than Kingdom Hearts. I've got close to 400 hours invested in it. Tons of side-quests, and a huuuuuuuuge main quest.

Tales of Symphonia is a sick game i love it. I wish it was on ps2 like in japan though. I have finished it 4 times and will do the big 5 someday. Zelos is my favorite character he is soooo cool. I did all the side quests and i must say the Abyssion takes forever to kill!!!!

Tales of symphonia has got to be one of my favourite RPG's. It is the prequel to tales of phantasia which is based several thousand years in the future.

Agreed. The voice overs could get pretty bad from time to time. I never checked but Lloyd sounds like he shares a VA with Robin from the Teen Titans.

Otherwise I really do enjoy the game. The art was nice, the plot was interesting to me, and the battle system was pretty fun.
