Nintendo The Tales of Symphonia

I had a similar reaction when I played Tales of the Abyss. I hated Luke, I spent the first part of the game until he underwent the change of life wasn't to smash his pompus head in. I think that's what made the game less likable for me.

Tales of Symphonia just hooked me right away and reeled me in. So far the other games haven't really had the same effect, sadly.

Though I do really dislike Colette, she was a complete tard. She's so happy, it's annoying. Kinda makes you wanna slam your head on the desk so you don't have to listen to her. -___-

Well, that wasn't a problem when she was robbed of her voice and emotions. she was kinda cool with those red eyes! like a terminator that doesn't talk. did anyone else rejoice after that?

ha! threads merged! where was the original?

Here in Nintendo. =)

Actually, that kinda made me sad for some reason. Granted, I did not miss her voice, but I did feel for the character. Call me weird, but I'm emotionally-in-touched with my RPG characters. >_<

I miss this game so much, its the soul reason I want a Gamecube again. It was fantastic and I just loved it. Its a great series and I loved the graphics.

It was definitely nice to get a break from her voice. I wouldn't have minded if Colette met a very unfortunate end at some point in the game. All her apologizing and whatnot got on my nerves.

OH! I thought that said tales of...sympho...gen...abyss...desti...OK! I've got nothing.

And I wouldnt go that far as to wish death on the girl! Just eternal emotion. I was, actually, happy when they found the cure for that 'crystallis whatever' disease. No one should die that way...

I wish she would've died. She was so ditzy that her secret move cut-in image was a picture of her sticking out her tongue. :wacky:

Nope, not weird. I am too...in fact I've told many people that I have to be able to like and kinda be able to 'get' the characters in order to be able to play the game...well that and a good plot ect. But if I don't like the characters, there is a high chance that I won't be able to play the game y'know. But this is only with RPG games, because they are the ones in which you rely on yourself being able to be the characters.

And then a huge question mark appears over her head. Yeah, she's pretty lame. Her overlimit move is pretty lame in comparison with the others.

I've actually never used Colette, I don't think. Well, except for in the beginning. But I once saw a video where someone beat Abyssion with a level 6 Colette. It was wiiiiiiiiiiicked.

Say whaaat? No way. Gotta see that.

Niiiiiiiiiiice. Dodged him as his HP melted away to nothing!

But yeah, I don't think I've used Colette either. I only ever have her in my party when I have to, or if I'm fighting a dark-based enemy.

I'd give it high props for the battle system alone...I haven't enjoyed an RPG as much as ToS in a long time. The story was pretty cliched anime stuff, but that's what I expected so I can't complain. The voice acting was decent and the character development was surprisingly well done.

I also liked the length and all the extras (Cooking recipes, Coliseum, etc). Definitely the best Gamecube game with the possible exception of Smash Bros Melee. I've also played way too many crappy / generic JRPG's over the past few years, this was a welcome change. Overall, I'd give it an 8.9/10 or so.

Right on! The cooking and recipes was truly a unique touch as far as sidequests go. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it and searching for recipes and adding your choice of ingredients, resulting in...well, success or failure.

It actually made me want to be a better cook for some odd reason. Heh, I also find it amusing that some characters are terrible at cooking (particularly Raine) and that Genis was the best cook out of them all. Talk about distinct unique characters.

really, Raine was terrible at cooking XD i remember she tried to make a spicy cake. no, not a spice cake, a SPICEY cake. i swear, i lol'd when I saw that!

I didn't bother with cooking too much. Once I learned how to make Miso Stew (restores a large amount of both HP and TP), I stopped with the recipes.

Searching for the Wonder Chef is pretty entertaining, though. haha

I never really paid much attention to the cooking aspect of the game or many of the mini-games (if there was many, I never really concentrated on that so not too sure on that), I had fun finding the Wonder Chief it has to be said though.

This was sort of the Gamecube's Grandia II for me, the Battle System pretty much got me through it.

The various mini-games were garbage. I detest the one where you play red light/green light as Genis. It's basically broken.

Unfortunately, you have to win if you want Genis' most powerful weapon.

oh yeah i remember that. that sucked more ass than a colonoscapy machine XD

i havent played it in years, but I remember going through that beach town at night. I loved going thru there.

actually, doesn't Miso Stew restore a moderate amount of HP/MP? I preferred the steak chops or whatever it was called. You can get it after doing a cook battle against some whiny prude in Meltokio and getting a Cooking outfit for Regal. Some small ways down from Meltokio there's a small chapel/churchouse thing that you can talk to some dude in and get it. Heals nearly all your health.

it r epixxszsz. I needed it to get Genis' coliseum weapon.

Thank god you didn't have to play it to get through the story. That minigame sucked majure cox.

Also, I didn't know that. I always thought that the weapon from the Coliseum was his best weapon aside from the Devil's arms, which have the potential to be any character's best weapons once you beat the shit out of Abyssion.

I liked the swimsuit event at altamira. Sucks that Kratos won't wear one, though. :neomon:

I'm pretty sure Curry restores a moderate amount of HP/TP. Miso Stew restores a large amount.

I don't think I've ever used Regal's cooking outfit. I'll have to keep an eye open for it next I play the game. The Coliseum can be a bitch with some characters.
