The Summoning System

That does sound really good, Lethal! Definitely lovin' the ideas that you have and the face-off between Yuna summoning Leviathan against Sin, now that would be have been an AWESOME FMV. I would have LOVED to of seen something like that. Yes, I did find it odd that we didn't have a water summon, but I think Valefor could possibly compensate for that. Valefor can use all the elements and you can teach Valefor Firaga, Wateraga, Blizzaga and Thundaga as well, so that might be why they didn't feel the need to use a water summon. Though I do agree I suppose. Leviathan would have been a nice, extra addition to the summons.

You know what I would have loved to have seen with Valefor? Wind spells, ie: Aero, Aera, Aeraga - I mean, she's a flying Aeon, but no Wind-based damage? The nearest thing we get is Sonic Wings, which I think sucks in comparison to the other Aeon unique-abilities. But I understand what you mean, how she could use all of the elements so Leviathan wasn't quite needed.

i think that X had the best summoning style for it's battle system and when the Espers in XII came into play it was the same thing but in real time, i loved this summoning system apposed to that of the original games like VII where the summons show up, unleash an attack and leave.

That is quite ironic. Lmao. Valefor didn't have any type of Wind based attacks except for it's special ability which really didn't do much to begin with. =/.

FFVIII was the only game, I think, that has all of the types of elemental Damage and Summons within a game. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I loved the summoning system on this one because you actually controlled the summon for once so that's why I liked it

It is my absolute favourite so far, it's so cool to be able to fight as Bahamut! I've summoned him more times than I can count, but buff up his stats in return, I think it's a fair deal.

I loved the whole design of every Aeon mostly Yojimbo.

Every overdrive was just awesome. Magus Sisters was annoying at first because it went for so long xD.

yeh ders 3 opishinal aeons Yojimbo Animia and Majanus sisters.
But yeh i agree dat the summong is way better from all the other games.

I thought the system in X was a step in the right direction. I as had always imagined summons taking the place of the summoner and you control the aeon/esper for the remainder of the battle, but keeping with the other two characters.

So you'd have three characters, then after the summon, 2 characters and one aeon fighting. That'd be cool.

So sorta like X and XII and a bit more! lol

My favourite in the entire series.

For the first time you get to control the summon! And use them as shields to defend yourself...! Simply adds more strategic element to the game.

FFX summoning system was the best I liked controlling my Aeons and they really happened to take some damage in my place, unlike FFXII summoning system which failed -_- since you can't control the Espers which I found dull I want to order my esper and I want him to do as I say. :stare:

Apparently in FFXII:International the Espers are controllable and you can change their Gambits.

(It's nice to know that SE value their audience outside of Japan -__-)

X's was the best so far in terms of playability, but I found it made the game way too easy. I think that the base stats of the Aeons should have been reduced. But other than that, it was brilliant.

I hope XIII has a good summoning system =]

I really loved the summoning system. But it would be cooler if yuna fought beside them. They also should have added more aeon fights like those with belgemine

Well she was controlling them so I guess you could say that she technically was fighting.

Though I did love the summoning system. I did like how you could control the aeons and some of their limit breaks were awesome.

Yeah, the elemental advantages and stuff really helped. I still feel that it had even more potential though. Instead of having four non-elemental Aeons, I feel that Square could have done more with them

Valefor could have been a Wind-based summon, and have spells like Aero/Aera/Aeraga and White Wind, with an Overdrive like a Tornado or Hurricane.

I still think a Water-based summon would have been PERFECT for the game. Isn't Spira known to be some waterworld, of sorts? Also, an example of Bismark or Leviathan Vs Sin would have been ace ...

Since the Magus Sisters are bugs and are summoned from flowers, I'm surprised that they weren't Earth-based summons. Anima could have been Shadow-based, since few enemies are Shadow-Elemental, it would have been a nice touch, since that element is rarely touched on in FFs.

I'm really surprised that since Mount Gagazet is known as a trial, that it wasn't made into a Cloister of Trials with a Holy-based summon, since it's the sacred mountain and all.

i couldnt agree more.
i think there should have been a summon for every element.
i really could have used a holdy aeon.

and when it comes to the number, i think it was just enough.
FFVII had a bunch of...useless and annoying summons.
Choco/Mog.....-__-

all i ever really needed were the knights and hades..and occasionally bahamut ZERO..

maybe one or two more wouldn't have hurt, but as FFX has taught us,
there is such a thing as overkill...
