-=~+~The Sanctuary of the Guardians of Nosgoth~+~=-
Here we have a club dedicated to one of the greatest stories ever created and by far one of the most successful series in the game genre; The Legacy of Kain Series.
A brief introduction:
The Pillars, long have the eyes of humanity gazed upon their beauty yet they lack the knowledge of their true meaning. Though human guardians served as their keepers, many of those never knew their true purpose and lacked the information that they had a deeper importance. The story takes back to the age in which vampires, divine winged beings pure of the corruptive effect of the desire for human blood, roamed the land as the guardians. There were also an opposite race, the Hylden, which were more like savage beasts that raged against the vampires. The battles led to the devastation of both races; the Hylden were sealed in an alternate demonic dimension and the vampires were cursed with the desire for blood. Many took their lives and others remained waiting for a merciful death that would release them from the abomination they became.
The curse also came with sterility, which means that vampires were no longer born. Due to this, the vampires and the Pillars required humans to serve as guardians. This however, had grave consequences for the fragility of humanity weakened the bound of balance between the land and the energies that ruled them.
Centuries later....
In this dying world, a terrible crime was committed. Ariel, the Guardian of Balance was brutally murdered by dark forces. At this time, the vampire Vorador attacked single handedly the Sarafan Stronghold and murdered most of the circle. Also during this attack, a human Raziel and his fellow brothers were murdered by a certain "demon" whose identity was lost in the pages of history.
Returning to Ariel's murder, her assassination sent powerful psychic waves, plunging Nupraptor, the Guardian of the Pillar of the Mind, into an overwhelming madness which slowly corrupted the other remaining guardians. The Guardians fell into dark ways and so the pillars were corrupted, lying shattered as silent decaying sentries longing for a restoration that would never come until balance returned.
During this events, the young man that would take Ariel's place as the Balance Guardian was born; Kain the nobleman. Unfortunately, he wasn't immune to the Guardian's insanity and so both his destiny and his purpose were corrupted. While traveling through Nosgoth, the ever confident and way arrogant Kain was murdered as well and plunged into the depths of oblivion. There we find Mortanius, The Guardian of the Pillar of Death, arrived to Kain with a tempting proposition; he would resurrect Kain and give him the chance to have revenge. How could someone refuse such an offer?
Of course, Kain returned, finding himself in his mausoleum as a vampire. He tracked and killed his murderers but his thirst was not satisfied. He wished to find a cure to vampiric curse and his search led him to the Pillars in which he met Ariel, the ghost of the murdered Balance Guardian. Ariel sent Kain to find and murder the remaining Guardians one by one, getting involved in bloody events like Ottmar's Army of Hope against the menacing armies of the Nemesis.
During his quest, Kain found and claimed the Soul Reaver; a soul devouring weapon thought to be indestructible and as old as the pillars themselves. He also found the Time Streaming Device, traveled through time and assassinated a young King William the Just, who would later become the terrifying ruthless tyrant known as the "Nemesis". Though Kain hoped to prevent Nosgoth's demise by preventing the transformation of William the Just into the Nemesis, he never knew that his actions were set step by step in order to alter history further on. Moebius, one of the Guardians of the Pillars, used William's assassination as means to trigger a genocidal war against the vampires until Vorador, the last of the vampires of his era, was decapitated.
Moebius confronted Kain but ended up falling, beheaded by Kain's sword. Kain continued his battle until facing his maker, Mortanius, in a last final confrontation in the Pillars. Kain witnessed how Mortanius, now possessed by dark spirits, assassinated Anacroth, one of the last remaining guardians.
Kain defeared Mortanius corporeal shell only to reveal the demon that possessed him. Eventually he defeated the demon and presented the items that belonged to the last remaining guardians to the pillars and thus restoring them. But not all was over, for a last remaining guardian remained. It was here when Ariel revealed Kain that he was the last of the nine, and that his death would restore balance to the world.
Kain, embracing his newly found immortality, refused to sacrifice himself and thus damned the pillars to an eternity of decay and Ariel to be forever bound to the pillars for she would never find peace until the pillars were restored....

The Guardians of the Pillars: keepers of the balance which rules Nosgoth. Leaders of the club that follow the commands of the Balance Guardian.
<oWikipedia said:Death, being the cycle of life, death and rebirth which the Ancients held sacred.<o></o
>
Conflict, being the interactions of things with other things and the new things arising thereof.<o></o
>
States, being the nature of the physical world and the ordering of the concrete, including chemicals and all the laws governing the physical world, such as electromagnetism and gravity.<o></o
>
Energy, being the vital force which animates creation and allows for the changing of all things.<o></o
>
Time, being the cyclical flow of time and the fated events to take place in order of their happening. (note that in "Legacy of Kain", time is neither dimensional nor directional, but it can be altered, with great difficulty, by one possessing sufficient comprehension of the nature of such a thing)<o></o
>
Dimension, being the dual directionality of the fabric of existence, allowing things which exist to exist and preventing things which do not exist from existing.<o></o
>
Nature, being the growth and evolution of living things, and everything which is animated or can be said to have a soul.<o></o
>
The Mind, being the soul itself, or the soul as it perceives itself, including all psychology, the study of the mind in relation to itself. (note that, logically, neurology would be a combination of the Mind and of States, dealing with the functions of physical cellular structures in relation to the soul; furthermore, sociology and politics would be a combination of the Mind and Conflict, dealing with the interactions between living souls)<o></o

Balance, being the interactions of all the spheres of law, and all things which fall under the auspices of more than one set of laws. It allows for the existence of things such as the aforementioned neurology, sociology, and politics. Balance governs all of existence through its governing of the laws themselves.
