So an interesting way to earn Gil in a FF game depends on how good you do on a max of 30 SeeD tests. The better you do, the more Gil you can earn on a daily/hourly/whenever basis.

My question is, did you take these tests honestly, trying to recall the answers to the question, or did you do what I did and grab the FFVIII Brady Games guide and look at the answers for each question?

I would try to tests out of my own knowledge first.
I usually get up to test 8 doing this way. Then I try the test and if I fail I just look up the answers, I usually don't like being the top rank though. Then if you run from even 1 battle you get a demotion

I took them honestly, I don't think I was so fussed at raising my rank so didn't feel like I needed to use a guide to get the answers. Maybe next time I should try just using a strategy guide for those tests!

I think the first time I played the game I answered honestly. 2nd time it was guides. Thereafter I don't bother with the SeeD exams.

There's a counter in the game for SeeD points. This gets divided by 100 to calculate your SeeD rank. Defeating an enemy (without using a GF) makes the counter go up by 1pt. When you get paid it goes down 10pt. Passing an exam rounds you to the next rank.

There's other choices in the game which affect the counter/rank.

But then again...I barely use shops when there's Card Mod and other menu abilities. And when you get to shops that have decent items (Esthar shops, and Tonberry's Familiar/Haggle etc) there's the money trick (buying tent's/cottages refining them to mega potions using recov med-rf then selling them at a higher price).

Yeah i did it honestly, although i never bothered to do them all. Think i got it up to level 14-16 then got bored. Some of the questions were actually quite hard and yea i did cheat aa couple of times..

I answered some of the questions honestly and naturally the more I play the more I know, but it's just far too easy just to pick up the guide and speed through it - I just get bored and think sod it

I think I attempted it honestly once, then I used a guide on Gamefaqs. But since I was playing the PC version, I got tired of Alt Tabbing so I just gave up on the tests all together. I never found myself low on Gil though, so it worked out alright.

I used the book and grab the answers myself. Of course you'll expand your knowledge of the game by taking the test honestly but I did played FFVIII fine considering that I speeded through the test.

This thread looks familiar, BustaMom...

I'm pretty honest with them most of the time... they aren't roo difficult, especially if you've beaten the game a few times. But if I'm feeling lazy, and pressed for cash, I look them up in an unofficial guide I bought back in... 98', I think.

I didn't feel like spending forever on the SeeD tests, so I got the answers from a guide on neoseeker. Out of curiosity though, I did read a few of the questions to see if I knew any of the answers, and I did. I probably could have done well on the tests without cheating, but like I said, that would've taken too much time for my liking.

I did the first handful honestly, and I kept passing with 100%s on the first try. But then some of the questions just started to be bullshit, and thats when I would grab a guide to help me out.

Test: "The Missle Base is next to Balamb Garden."
Me: "False"
Test: "WRONG! BALAMB GARDEN MOVES DUMBASS! HAHAHAA!"
Me: "Whaaa...?!?"

When I was first playing it I didn't have the internet or a guide so I had to do them myself

please feel free to laugh

When I first startd I was playing FF8 with a group of 4 or 5. When none of us could answer right we would pick yes on you first one then no on all the rest. Then second one yes and no the rest and so on. Each time the score would be higher if it was correctly yes and if it was no it would just stay the same.

That was a really long time ago, right when it first came out. I wouldn't suggest doing it. We did just cause we were laughing at the trick we were doing.
