Well I'm ebaying it up right now, trying to get my hands on the Star Ocean Ex anime. I see a lot of other animes up for auction and I have really been wanting to find one worth watching.

What are some really amazing animes that you've seen? I mean besides current mainstream shows like Bleach and FMA.

my favorites always gonna be DBZ, but im not that big on anime and DBZ is pretty much the only one ive ever gotten into. it was awesome though.

Hmm, I don't know what kind of anime you like, but Fantastic Children really stood out for me. Now, I must admit that it took me awhile to finally watch the anime because the graphics didn't appeal to me. But my friend kept telling me to watch, and so I did...and I fell in love with it. And really, the graphics weren't really that bad...

It's not the typical anime that I normally watch. They seriously put a lot of thought into it, and I noticed that not a whole lot of people know about this particular anime yet. It deals a lot about science, and normally, I tend to shy away from animes with such themes since it bores me. But this one really held my attention from the beginning until the end. Great plot, and the storyline was one of the most complex I have seen in an anime. Not a bad thing...you just have to really pay attention since there are so many twists and turns. Beautiful music and unforgettable characters. I was not disappointed in the least bit.

Here's a synopsis if you're interested...just so you can get an idea. http://www.ass-no-ryu.com/animeblog/?cat=25

What else...um, well there's Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien. One of those romantic anime, but really sad and dramatic.

Then there's Fate Stay Night...but that's purely action with awesome graphics. Good story too.

I read a small story description on AnimeNfo.com for Fantastic Children:

For hundreds of years, the same group of children have been spotted numerous times. By all the photographs and paintings, they seem never to have aged in all this time and they act more like adults than like children. They seem to have an agenda of their own, searching always for one person, but, never seeming to find that person for those hundreds of years. Every time they come close, they find the same image of a crescent moon behind a mountain.

One day, not so long ago, an orphan known as Helga escapes from her orphanage and runs across Toma, a talented young man who helps aid her younger friend in their escape and tries to hide her at his house. Though she is caught and returned, he becomes curious and tries to find out more. Among other things, he is shown some strange drawings that she has been drawing since she was young, though the head of the orphanage does not approve of them. These drawings are the same ones that the fantastic children have found so many times in their searches, though Toma knows nothing of this. Is she the one they are looking for? Why have they been looking for one person for hundreds of years and what is their secret that they have lived, apparently ageless, for so long?

You're right. The graphics look a little bit americanized (cheesy). But I like the way the story sounds! ^.^
I'll add it to my list of things to look into!

So far, I've ran into the following titles, which look somewhat interesting:
Basilisk
Cowboy Bebop
Rurouni Kenshin: Reminiscence

Ever heard of them?

I've heard of and watched a few episodes of Rurouni Kenshin. From what I saw, it was decent.

I absolutely love Cowboy Bebop. It's one of my favorite anime. Great story, great action, great music.

I also really enjoyed Trigun, Noir, Mononoke Hime and Spirited Away.

Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Azumanga Daioh!

I've already read a few reviews for Great Teacher Onizuka, The Melancholy, and Ninja Scroll.

Right now, I'm looking at one called Murder Princess.
Here's the plot summary:

In the land of Foreland a coup d'état has occurred and the princess, after witnessing the death of the King, is on the run. She meets with battle-hungry bounty hunter Falis, and with a twist of fate they both switch souls, making Alita the maid of the now princess Falis. Named for her bravery in confronting the enemy as ‘Murder Princess’, Falis must continue to be the princess as well as confronting any new opponent that comes to her way.

Apparently, it's only 6 episodes though.

Neon Genesis Evangelion has been voted to be one of the best animes ever. I've seen the anime as well as the movies. If you're going to get NGE you have to get the movies. They're part of the actual ending. The last two episodes of the anime are really lame and they're not actually the ending. (I believe they were fill-ins because the actual ending was too dark-themed to air.)

Believe me, the first few episodes are boring but it picks up really fast.

I also recommend Fushigi Yugi. It's a pretty good anime. (Very girly.) As well as Ayashi no Ceres, same writer/artist as Fushigi Yugi. (Yuu Watase.)

I've haven't seen all of Rurouni Kenshin but it is a highly rated anime.

Cowboy Bebop is another recommendation. Very popular anime, dubbing was done very well.

Love Hina - Manga was better than the anime but still fun to watch.

Ninja scroll the movie is very good.

Great. I have a huge list of animes too research. ^.^
Fushigi Yugi sounds a LOT like sailor moon according to the plot summary.

I didn't really like the Great Teacher Onizuka anime. There was something so plain about it. Loved the manga though.

Love Hina is a fun anime, I enjoyed that as well.
My list is something like Samurai Champloo, Ergo Proxy, Code Geass, and Paranoia Agent. Possibly some other Satoshi Kon movies as well (Tokyo Godfathers, Perfect blue...Probably Paprika when I see it)

Cowboy Bebop
Hellsing
Full Metal Panic
Sailor Moon collection
Bleach
Dominion Tank Police

Those are the ones I say to go for lol!

Oh I love Full Metal Panic series, especially, Fumoffu! It was probably the only anime that really made me "lol". xD I quite enjoyed Ayashi no Ceres as well, but it's one of those romance/drama/action situation. Scrapped Princess was pretty good too.

Right, I might as well check out the other titles that you people suggested. xD

I have run across all of the titles that were mentioned here so far, as well as a few other really nice looking animes. The ones that caught my eyes the most were these:

Star Ocean Ex
Basilisk
Cowboy Bebop
Rurouni Kenshin
The Vision of Escaflone
Mermaid Forest
Murder Princess
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Fushigi Yugi

I also nabbed some plot summaries and show information off the net for the rest of you who are interested. Here's what I gathered:

I am currently watching cowboy bebop. I started with "session 1", so I think that's the first episode. It's starting off a little slow, but I like the music...and the dog. ^.^
