I have seen this done on other forums, and fascinatingly enough, it seems to yield a different result each time. The first time I saw it done; Jo Carpenter (Bakuretsu Tenshi) came out on top, the second time had Cell from DBZ as a winner, and you get the idea.

Simply put, this will be a tournament (voting and all) for YOU to determine who you believe to be the most badass anime character of all time.

To start; I want anyone who posts in this thread to suggest two anime characters they feel are the most badass of all time. When we have a sufficient number, I will take each character and set up voting brackets for us to begin. I will do my best to see that each match is as fair as can be.

While the nominations can simply be the names of characters and the series they are from, when we come around to voting I will be asking those who vote to provide a short reason as to why they believe the character they are voting for to be more badass than the current opponent.

GUIDELINES
  • Two characters nominated per user. No more, and preferably no less. Furthermore, once you have nominated two characters, please do not change your nominations or ask me to change them.
  • Do not repeat. If someone else has already nominated Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop, you may not.
  • Manga characters are accepted too. Western-style "psuedo-anime" characters such as those from Teen Titans or Avatar however, will not be accepted.
  • "Most badass" does not mean "most powerful". Goku (DBZ) may be more powerful than Izumi Curtis (FMA), but Izumi is more badass than Goku will ever be.
  • Likewise, this is to determine who is more badass, not who would win in a fight. Were that the case; all anyone would have to do would be to nominate a character from Dragonball.
  • "Badassery" is relatively in the eye of the beholder. I think Integra Hellsing (Hellsing) is more badass than Kamina (TTGL), but I would not expect everyone else to believe the same.

Finally, I will be keeping the nominations list in this first post updated as people submit. When I deem we have enough, I will begin the voting.

Just to clarify however, in the future there will be no changing of nominations as I'd like to avoid having people switch on a whim every now and then. I am making an exception this time as it was not explained prior. It will be added to the guidelines now however.

You're half lucky; as the user who nominated Lelouch is apparently having that one changed (so it looks like Lelouch stays on the list), however Makoto has already been nominated.

Just to clarify for everyone; this thread is only for taking nominations. You are not voting between characters yet.

Interesting...I'll nominate Tamaki Suoh, from Ouran High School Host Club, and The Earl of Millennium, from D.Gray-Man.
 
I've got Two, count them, Two legitamate entries that no one other than a handful of people I can think of would offer on the table.

First: Kazuho Yoshii (Texhnolyze)
Second: The Skull Knight (Berserk)

My reasons? Kazuho Yoshii is just badass...He just looks like some unassuming guy with a firebucket hate, orange coat and pants, and then suddenly you realize that this nice, calm, guy is the guy that's instigating a huge amount of unrest via sniping, assassinating, and sabotage. He's such a fun character, though he's essentially a 'bad guy' he's not even the antagonist of the anime though he is still quite awesome.

and for Skull Knight, from those familiar with the manga...he is every bit as epic as Gatsu, and I'll leave it at that. Or for another time? Maybe.
 
Seventeen nominations, still waiting for an update from Sohryuden666, but otherwise looking good so far. :) I'd like to try and reach 32 if we can before the rounds/matches begin.

Roster updated yet again. Still no reply from Sohryuden and it's been nearly a week. If he hasn't responded by then Lelouch will likely be removed from the roster to keep things even.

Twelve more nominations to go (ie; six more users) and we begin the voting =D
