The AI of today's RPGs

So, I'm pretty much a veteran of the PSX, PS2, and Gamecube, and with the purchase of my Xbox 360, a notable problem has risen: Absolutely dreadful character AI that makes me want to barf and then pummel something to a bloody pulp.

Personally, it's pretty irritating since I stopped playing warcraft since no one can get their shit together and I don't like playing my DK anymore. I'm tired of idiots who can't do their job, I've been trying to take a break from it because it stresses me the fuck out, and here I am just shooting my foot off.

I mean really, how hard is it for the computer to comprehend the basic set strategy of "STFU STAY FAR AWAY FROM THE BOSS AND HEAL WHORE"?

Seriously...

WHAT THE FUCK

The fucking gamecube came out like ages ago and Tales of Symphonia has superior AI compared to Tales of Vesperia, Namcobanda's newest Tales Mothership title for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

It's just SO infuriating... Are people REALLY so up their ass about Visuals and Sound that they don't even realize no matter how pretty a shit game is it's still shit if it doesn't have an optimal level of playability?

Funny, I was kinda thinking the same thing earlier when playing Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I don't care much for the AI but I read that it gets worse for a certain character...Myuria, was it?

For The Last Remnant, I know for a fact that the AI of Wyngale (when fighting The Fallen) is completely irritating - what could have been a 2-3 times deal when defeating The Fallen resulted in a 30+ tries instead because of the dumb AI. There's other games that come to mind, and it does make me want to scream.

I embrace this fact very much. At the very least, it stands in stark contrast of the futuristic opinions of AIs- that of virtual entities billion times smarter than us. Kinda makes me feel more superior... If you look at it my way, I suppose.

Nevertheless, they can get on my nerves at times. Then again, I guess there wouldn't be much difficulty if the AIs are too intelligent.. But I'll love them more if they could encapsulate just a little bit more common sense. The dedication to the battle they have is admirable, but what's the point of rushing to their deaths?

That's AI for you...

Really? Myuria doesn't seem any worse than any other character I have and is pretty much indispensable with Restoration and Fast Cast. It always saves me from running out of items and shit D:

The only thing about SO that pisses me off is friggin they don't just spam faerie healing at every chance that presents itself. If they did, I'd never die again <_<
