Terminator: Salvation

I hope it's better that T3, I didnt know there was another one i production tbh, although it looks pretty good from wat I just saw of it, got about half way through, is Arnie in it?

I liek how they change John Connors character everytime :wacky: Although I supposed they'd have too >_> Ive never been a fan of Christian Ble though, he always seems so wooden to me <_<

Well basically they've started a 'new' trilogy (or at least that was the orginal idea) thats set during the war, the rise of John Connor as resistance leader and builds up to the creation of the T-800 seires (Arnie). Technically Arnie isn't really in this new film but does have a small cameo role. But even then it's just his voice with his old buddy double, using digital make-up to make him more like the younger Arnie of the first film.

T3 was made of fail, but this looks good as it breaks away from the normal format of Terminator sent back in time to kill with another simply there to protect.

I not likeing this whole trilogy idea, they are gunna fuck terminator right up, next they will be making the original 2 and then Il have tro start windmilling in the direction of the creators >_>

And I really don't like Christian BAle, this whole thing stinks of fail to me

Although it DOES look good >_>

Im getting dragged to see this, I dont wanna! I loved the first 2 Terminator films and the TV series was awesome. 3 IMO never happened lol. But I HATE Christian Bale, I cant stomach him and its him thats making me refuse to see Terminator.

The problem I have with this is that I am hearing impaired and I can never hear a fucking thing Bale says. He tries way to hard to sound 'gruff' and it just pisses me off in the end. So although it will probably be better in theaters I will have to wait for a DVD release just so I can turn on Closed Caption.

I guess I'm the only person who thinks Bale's a great actor :kei:

Anyway, I can't say I've ever really been bothered about Terminator films, but the combination of Bale and that epic bike clip makes this film some epic shit. Can't wait to see it, it looks well good. :gasp:

Who knows if it will be good or not. I'll probably see it at some point but I can't say I'm really hyped for it. I like Bale as an actor... I'm just not that excited over the movie. People treat the Terminator series like the second coming of Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. It's not meant to be that serious. It was a semi-original story in its day... but it's just an action flick.

I hear a lot of people, both online and offline, questioning whether this new movie will be up to "Terminator" standards? Was T3? Was the TV series? It's an action flick. If you have more than three explosions and someone shooting guns with care and disregard for public safety, ding ding, congratulations, you just made a passable action flick. There is no high bar of quality...

If they're expecting something like 'Terminator' then they will be disappointed because it doesn't follow the typical Terminator format. It's not simply a couple of peeps being stalked by a bad-arse muddafukka with a few explosions and quirky 'I'll be back' lines.

Terminator Salvation!!

This movie looks sooo badass. The trailers and commercials make me very very excited! The background music on the 2 min trailer goes well with the action.

heres the 2 min trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcg5t0mT8V4&feature=related

G4 had an hour special on this movie covering all the behind the scenes and explained some of the characters a little. At the end they showed a exclusive 37 sec clip of the movie. Here's the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39deLi7lGhw&feature=related

I saw the trailer in the cinema when I watched the new Star Trek movie, and it didn't look half bad. There's something about it that rubs me the wrong way though. I'm just not sure if I can accept a Terminator movie without Arnie in a major role. He's been the iconic T-800 101 and main character in the 3 other movies, and he's the face of the franchise as far as I'm concerned.

I know that he does lend his voice acting to the movie though and that Roland Kickinger will play the T-800 with Arnold's face in CGI. Hopefully it'll be more than a small cameo towards the end of the movie. Otherwise it would be like having a Batman movie where Batman only shows up towards the end...

Whoopsy daisy, double post.

Anyway, I just saw the movie yesterday. A Freakin-Fantastic! I thought Christian Bale did a pretty job, and the Aussie guy who played Markus was rockin' too. I heard he was personally recommended by James Cameron, which was good because he really played a good role there. Now, the fighting scenes towards the end were a little too rushed I think. Didn't really had those great elements that Terminator 2 had towards the end, but it's decent enough.

Story-wise...well let's just say that if it's been more than 5 years since you've seen any of the Terminator movies and have forgotten most of what's happened, you might want to see it again. I'll be watching the 3 previous Terminator movies real soon here as a matter of a fact. But aside from that, the movie is definitely kick-ass and there wasn't any boring moments at all. Some might think that 1 or 2 is better, but I think I prefer this one just a tad bit. Or it could be a toss-up between this and 2, I don't know.

I liked it, though I thought it could have been better. I haven't actually watched any of the terminator films so I don't know if I was missing anything, and as for Arnie, you probably get a whole 10 seconds of him if you're lucky before he disappears. It's fantastic as an action film and really keeps your on your feet, plenty of explosive fast paced action scenes regularly, the acting on the whole was great, although I didn't think Bale had enough to say to be honest and I think that's where there was wasted potential especially in the scenes where he's pissed, that's when he's at his prime, and there wasn't enough of that >.>

It still doesn't beat the first two films, but it's a hell of a lot better than 3 was. I wasn't expecting much so I thought it was quite good, albeit slightly obvious as to where things were going to go;
Marcus was obviously a machine and it was obvious he was going to donate his heart to save John Connor's at the end.
I think they did a pretty good job of casting for a young Kyle Reese in it too. Overall, I'd say it's worth the watch.

I found it entertaining, but I think it will be one of those movies that will be forgotten in a years time. Obviously, it was nowhere near as good as the first two movies. But the plot was able to maintain my interest and I really liked the visual effects and scenery. But I thought some parts of the movie were a little corny.

Agreed, some parts of the plot were just far too predictable for me.

Plus I was not a fan of Bale's acting at all, I found it really fucking lame to be honest. But as I said before, the movie was good enough to keep me entertained and at the end of the day that's all that matters when it comes to action movies.

Yeah, it wasn't one of Bale's best performances. It's a good action movie, but not a good Terminator one. The first two set the bar far too high for either of them ever to be beaten in a hurry.
Also, I was very amused by the fact that the machines had USB ports. :wacky:

I watched it last week and I thought it was pretty much rubbish to be honest. There were some decent enough action scenes, and Arnie turning up towards the end was a high point, but it just doesn't work without the Governator in a major role. When I watch a Terminator movie, I DEMAND genocidal cyborg machines with Austrian accents, and this movie failed to deliver in that aspect.

I watched it the other night and, quite frankly, fuck you haters. I thought it was pretty damn good. Sure as far as things go in general it doesn't have anything on the first two films (but they ARE classics afterall) but this isn't just a Terminator film; it's a Terminator SALVATION film. It's not meant to be part of the trilogy so it's supposed to break the initial mould (i.e. baddy sent back in time to stalk, kill and rip shit up) which is what most people seem to hold against it, yet it continued the franchise well story-wise with its twists and cool action scenes. Hell the fight scene with the Terminator at the end stayed true to the seires ayways. Though I thought parts were abit dodgy I think overall it was a decent film. Sam Worthingtons character was brilliant and brought back some chilling feelings that the third and maybe even the second film failed to deliver.

I guess the verdict can be that if your a fan of the original films just for what they were (action film with Arnie in it) then you may not like it, but if your a fan of the franchise and read the books aswell then you'll find it very intresting for the story.

I hope they do make a sequel, as this was supposed to be the first in a 'new trilogy', but I'll be happy with just one more that finishes it all off.
