Ok, the story starts in a boring fishing village. The hero gets lured onto a pirate ship by Captain Sparrow. You encounter all kinds of storms and weird sea creatures and eventually encounter Kraken, who wrecks the ship. You are stuck on a tropical coast. It appears than only one other person survived. You eventually find an old shrine. There is a secret passage to a huge underground world. You will need a key to enter.

Ok, I will add more later. But this is what we will need to have completed before we open any of the game.

Sounds like a plan.

Maybe also add that your guy was born in the fishing village and pirates show up one day and lure you onboard. After traveling to a few locations (we could name em reefs and such, since ships anchor near them sometimes). There is a storm that breaks your ship free from the your anchorage, you are stuck in a violent storm for days( we could simulate time by having the captain give out daily reports, requiring the person to have the previous days report before they get the next one.) and after a few days adrift, the krakken attacks and you scramble up the mast to get away from it's tentacles, in doing so, the mast breaks, and you fall into the water and are knocked out. You wash up on a beach with most of your things gone, except finding a desk that has washed ashore. (we can make a NPC that is actually a desk, you character will search the desk and find some items, like a diary, a pen, some clothing, etc. ) I added the diary becasue I though it could be used as a guide. Instead of asking tons of npc's about things, every few places, there will be a update to you diary that you can access by choosing a npc titled something like *check diary* and when you check it, you will recieve a new page to it you can read that will give you hints about things, such as stuff you would see if your actually there. It could also provide warnings, like "Off to the east, I hear something that sounds like the clash of swords, I better take precautions if heading that direction."

Thats all I can think up right now, but it plays off Koloth's story, just with some more depth.

I have been thinking about that. Maybe our hero gets thrown overboard. Then drifts onto the tropical coast. I am working on monsters on BP2. They maybe a little weak. But remember it is only training for the main boss. I am still wondering about an inn.

Looks great. I need to check what the default gets in gil.

edit: a character starts with 500 gil. It will work well. Of course, we could change that.

My first two monsters kinda suck. I think I am going to think about what monsters to use for BP2, 3 and 4.

I'll go ahead and reset mine to help test the stuff.

Besides, then Gab will stop whining about how much money I got XD

Julius, I took it upon myself to reset your character. Both Teil and I reset our characters so we can test the monsters.

Yep, all Koloths fault. I did in now way egg him on or support him. Nope, nada, zip, zero...

Aww, who am I kiddin.

Also, npc's + components are poof :D

I guess we could do that.

I figured Kraken should give an item drop. I was thinking of armour. But I am having difficulties coming up with good stats. Also, I am not sure what the picture should be. I was thinking of making it medium armour and giving it about 20 DEF. Probably it weighs about 30 or 35.

I'll think about something :P

Done, check the Old Plate Mail dropped by Kraken :monster:

Looks good, Julius. I also gave Kraken a key to unlock the door. The key will of course be taken, once you have been granted access to the underground city. I need to seriously work on the NPC. If somebody else feels creative, they can work on it also.

As for preventing people access to the ship again. I think I have screwed that up. I prefer trying to stick to travel monsters for now... We could make all the ship areas set to cannot be accessed from the map. Which means people have to travel through all the areas all the time. That could get frustrating. So I think we should probably forget that idea.

As for the underground maze, I believe the areas should be invisible in the tunnel. We will probably have places that will have triggers to access other places on the map. I have not completely thought about that idea though.

How about a puzzle NPC that gives the key?

The setting could go like this:
ME said:
-Player talks to NPC

NPC: "I see you have defeated that fiendish Kraken. Perhaps you might be able to help me. "

Player: "Help you? With what?"

NPC: "Not so fast, first you must answer a question. It's simple and related to a story you should know. If you answer it correctly, I'll give you a key that unlocks the door to an underground maze, but if you are wrong, you would better be prepared to be tested some other way. Here's the question: (insert random FF question here)"

Player:
a) Correct
b) Incorrect (Triggers battle)
c) Incorrect (triggers battle)

In case player answers it incorrectly, he will fight a monster that once killed, will trigger another conversation.

NPC: "You defeated that monster as well. It appears that, even though you may not have much of brain, you still have a lot of strength. Take this key and go."

Well, after the battle with Kraken, that maybe a bit much. I just made the NPC grant access after taking the key given by Kraken. There will be more puzzles later on.

Teil added the Ancient City.

He was thinking of adding a treasure chest, in Tropical Island. Kinda like a bank with no interest.

Julius, think up some cool NPCs to take people around the hidden underground tunnels from the City of Ancients. This is where we could put some cool puzzles and side quests.

Ok, we could use the one I suggested before with a different name or settings.
Here's a plan :)

-NPC A: Dragon Statue
Text: An ancient statue constructed long ago, presumably by the creators of this old, mythical city. It has two jewel eyes, one red and one yellow. It appears that they can be removed. There's also an inscription at the base of the statue: "Oh fated one, may the light of my eyes guide your path. Crimson red, fiery and enraged with the iron will of a warrior. Yellow amber, like the rising sun." You notice that the shield and sword of the statue are missing.

Select Jewel:
a) Remove Red Jewel/Leads to Path of Rage
b) Remove Yellow Jewel/Leads to Path of Wisdom

The option of removing both jewels won't be available until they complete the first two trials. If a player selects the Red Jewel, if they have the yellow jewel it will be taken by the NPC, and vice versa.

After they kill the bosses of both trials and obtain their drop items, the items should activate the trigger of "Take both Jewels".

Boss 1: Mirdargo (dead knight or some fiendish thing)
Boss 2: Infernus (was tempted to name it either Saix or Adamant)

-Drops-
Boss 1/ Decorative Sword
Boss 2/ Decorative Shield

Path of Rage

Two to three connected areas. Monsters should be strong, but less than three per area.

Path to Wisdom
Two to three connected areas. Weak monsters with high encounter and from two to four monsters. They should be quite fast, but weak.

For later on...
We can set three kingdoms, with us as their leaders. Then we should have a fourth kingdom being the bad guys. ^_^

On a side note...
D'lain, suggested an Inferno World Map Contest to select another world map saying that the current one needs to be fixed. Meh....I told him that we already did that and that if he wanted a new one, he should show it to the people and we would see.

Maybe I can work on something during the week:huh:
