It's possible. He's talking about it from a propaganda outlook. Right now my data is free, my information is free, due to I go to news websites (BBC and other non bullshit sites) instead of actually going to buy a paper (which costs a few trees here and there). I have an open mind about it all due to the internet to be quite honest. Though history books, honestly can be quite bias. In America we demonize folks like Che Guavara and others, without giving actual thoughts of why we do in the first place. We demonize Afghanistan citizens who were labeled taliban due to they were against America occupying and causing even more problems than before by trading weapons to help against Russian troops (before desert strike). Due to the internet a lot of folks wised up that each nation is infact a little corrupt in it's own way.

This bill is not policing Google or Reddit actually, it's policing the users that use the site. With the combined effort of PIPA and SOPA, they have the ability to prosecute you for saying anything bad about a corporation. The whole internet piracy act is just a front.

Though let me touch on internet piracy. If it wasn't for Youtube and people that use it to promote themselves (sing other people's songs) these media lobbyists wouldn't have their Justin Beiber's, Katy Perry's and other well known Youtube celebrities.

So in fact they would be stifling creativity in such a way, that it would make folks so tunnel visioned due to.. the government/media will get you in their court - Brain wash you beyond all hell, then only allow you to listen to certain music/watch certain videos.. etc etc.

I'm surprised the FCC hasn't been thrown under the bus as well. No offense but where else are we going to get creativity without globalization of oneself these days. How can we just ... take a step back? Go back to shitty garage bands that mostly have even less original content.

I'm not saying I like Beiber or Katy Perry or Lady Gaga, but who they were before the media got their grubby little hands on them.. were probably very much different. What the media tries to do is take these original artists.. promise them they can sing what they want, but then overly suggest stuff.. or else take them off the air when they breach contract. When you sign a deal to a record label these days, you are basically selling your soul. You have no control on what you sing for the most part, unless you got big first without a label, which most likely is pretty impossible in today's day in age.

They already censor good bands. Hell I didn't hear Tool until I literally bought their albums, I didn't hear Pulse Ultra, Rage Against the Machine.. and etc until I started literally going through mounds of mounds of their tracks. These bands will cease to exist on the air because the FCC will use these bills in their favor, aka censorship. Pulse Ultra + Tool + Nine Inch Nails + RATM + Many other good bands.. actually had a lot of propaganda against corporations. A lot of their better stuff used to be played all the time, but now a days.. unless it's cryptic as hell (which tool is great at) then you won't hear the stuff that makes you actually think and wake up against the system.

I see this as a huge assault on the intellectual prowess of new entertainers in the world. Now you will no longer be able to advertise yourself out, unless of course you play something completely creative.. and if it is creative, it won't be able to be found, due to folks like VIVO completely putting all these other shit artists on the top 10.

Not only this, but as a developer and a tester myself.. I will be severely limited on what dynamic content I can provide to my end users if this keeps up. The problem is.. where can these bills stop? These just give the Media a foot into the door with politics, it's only a downward spiral from here. If you can't speak your mind, without feeling policed on the internet, where the hell else can you do it? Are you going to "write" a letter politely to your congressman/house representative/senator/president/governor and politely asked where your rights went? Pfft, they are just a pawn in the system too. Or are you going to join the other hipsters and protest? Only problem with protesters are these days, is that a lot of them have given a bad name to other protesters, so they are automatically demonized and exploited by the "media" in such a way that it perverses our stance on it. The only way these days to clean up the system is to do a full work over Congress.. aka get rid of it all, and do a hard restart. Recall the troops, kick the media/religion out of politics, and go back to the ole "I voted for this person, because he said he would do it, so I expect him to do it" Not sit their with a thumb up his/her ass where his/her hands are tied.

Can you in a less wordy way explain to me how SOPA will result in the extermination of the Jews? Or turning Eastern Europe in lebensraum?
 
I was referring to how Hitler used the media. His voice, only his voice.

Substitute Jews for Muslims via Iran/Iraq/Afghanistan, and substitute Prison Camps, for interment camps.. and you might have quite a bit of resemblance.

Though I don't see over 6 million+ people being put to death any time soon, or America marching our happy arse and trying to claim territory (maybe just resources).
 
People are forgetting about that. It will be a tragedy that people will never get to experience that greatness.
