Stepping out of your circle, or your 'comfort zone' or whatever else you might know it as. ;)

Have you ever done something that you had never done before merely because you were afraid to try, and you just broke away from all your standards completely?

Mine would have to be presenting a speech in full English for the first time 4 years ago. ^_^ Quite a feat, because I had only given speeches in my native language -- Tagalog -- before. But I do know how to speak it well....
It was tough, considering public speaking is my biggest fear. ^_^

Other than that, killing a humongous spider. :S

You're my hero now. Whenever I see a spider, I usually run away screaming. True story.

I think the time I submitted poetry to a national contest, I was really stepping out of my element. While I write a lot, I usually don't show it to anyone. But I had to write a poem for class and my teacher convinced me that I should submit a poem.

The good: it ended up getting published in a poetry book.

The bad: I had to pay $15 for the book. You'd think they would have given free copies to the contest winners.

Moving out of my home 3 years ago. It was a big step for me, as was going to university. Im usually tied to my grandmothers apronstrings!
My family had bets on my return, but they were shocked when I lasted untill August of last year.

Oh yeah, well done with the spider!

I might have done some things that people didn't expect me to ever do, but they came natural to me. As for things I'm afraid of doing, occassionally I'll try, and sometimes I just won't. Depends on what it is, and if there's a point to trying it.

There's not a lot I'd feel uncomfortable doing outside my 'comfort zone' of preferences. Public speaking used to be an issue, however I recently discovered I've developed a liking of it.

There are things I'd prefer not to do out of personal preference, or for the sake of morality :-)rolleyes: ), but I'm quite at ease with things I've never done/not yet tried.

Walking around topless was probably the only thing I was bothered by though. I don't like flaunting my stuff publically. :P

Meh, I usually always try something new that I’ve never tried before or at least try not to be afraid to experiencing something new, with the law of course.

For me, I guess it would be driving a motorcycle would be stepping out of my circle. I’ve always had a fear of riding one since everyone that I’ve know who’s had one, has either wiped out or has gotten into a serious accident because some idiot driving a car never saw them.

Anyway, to make a long story shot. My brother recently bought a one and taught me how to drive it, so every now and then I’ll take it out for spin on a nice day.

Hmm, I'm not really sure. I guess talking to a new girl who joined last year. I find it really hard to talk to someone I don't know since I've had so much rejection in the past. Friends have turned into enemies and have ignored me a lot, so I lack confidence. Still, I plucked up the courage and she's now one of my best friends. :)

Well, let's see...stepping out of my circle...

I guess when I went skinny dipping with a bunch of friends at broad daylight and we were attacked by the cops right after. Such embarrassment that was.

...

Oh I'm kidding. =) Gosh, I don't know, this is kinda tough. I'd like to say Public Speaking, but that's not really an issue anymore. It used to be though. Hmm, dancing in school...that was kinda hard to do since I was extremely shy back then.
