StarHawk Officially Announced For Playstation 3

The wait is over and developers, publishers and media can freely speak about Starhawk. GTTV had the honor of announcing the title on it’s show at around 1am eastern.

Starhawk retains a lot of the cartoony look from its predecessor, Warhawk. The overall look and feel of the game looks to be on a more epic scale with singleplayer experience being brought in as a focus this time around. A heavy amount of the gameplay still remains within the multiplayer which has been backed with more vehicles and action than ever.

One of the first things you will notice from the trailers is the addition of mechs or robots or exo-skeletons whatever you prefer to call them, they are big, bulky and menacing. It remains to be seen if they will be useful on the battlefield. The gameplay will include RTS elements which will aid in a tactical advantage during mutliplayer. It will be interesting to see how this mixes with the shooting gameplay of the ‘Hawk’ franchise. The shooting looks to be a mixture of Warhawk and Socom 4 (judging by the camera angle). It looks to be a great improvement but we will see when better quality video is uploaded sometime tomorrow. We will have more information as it develops, until then enjoy the screens. The videos showcased multiplayer and singleplayer gameplay. Check out Gametrailers for the videos when they post up.

Update#2

7 minutes of Starhawk gameplay with commentary by Sanii.
From the creators of Warhawk comes a bold new 3rd Person shooter adventure where you can change the battlefield instantly in the heat of combat. (Warhark 2)

Experience intense frenetic combat on foot, in vehicles, or in the air and discover a new type of shooter gameplay with the new “Build & Battle” system. Gain the tactical advantage by calling upon an arsenal of weapons, vehicles, and fortifications, violently delivered from an orbiting drop ship to help turn the tide of battle.

Box art revealed for Starhawk

Multiple retailers have posted what appears to be the North American official box art for the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive game, Starhawk. The cover features a character infected by the so-called “rift energy” as evident by the strange aura coming out of his right arm. You could see several air vehicles heading towards him from space. You can check out the official box art, as well as all the official screens released for the game so far, in the slideshow to the left of this article.

Starhawk is the spiritual successor to the hit 2007 Playstation 3 game, Warhawk. Several key members from the team that developed the predecessor went on to form LightBox Interactive, who is now responsible for the follow-up. Starhawk adds several real-time strategy elements to the frenetic vehicular combat and third-person shooting gameplay the original is known for. It will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment when it launches sometime in 2012.

Sorry to necro but, It's in open beta now and I'm wondering if anyone aside from myself is playing the BETA

I've gotten to lvl 7 and enjoying the game pretty well.

only bad thing atm is the hawks being slightly OP ~.~ I pretty much have to keep a Rocket Launcher on me to counter them XD love that they can lock onto them in the air xD

I've played the Beta. But as for my overall feel for the game, it's not quite living up to the hype I expected.

The only thing I liked about the beta was flying on the hawks, not even bothering with the game.
